Naruto It's not ME !

Meh, it's an idea I've been thinking about, but it would need a little bit more than canon "isolation" of Naruto. Don't know how much.

Imagine Naruto, he just ganked Mizuki ... but he didn't dispell all clones, or, those clones left before he could and he forgot them.

They are Naruto ... so it's not like they follow orders very well, right ?

Now, those Naruto could be like ... yeah well, let's take revenge. They took it on me when I was a kid (we were kids?), so now it's my turn ...

And it's the start of strange things happening around the village. Here, it would be in proportion to the degree of neglect of Naruto, from stealing/degrading things, to murder and torture, and always, there's absolutely no trace of the people having done those things ... And Naruto is dreaming about it, he always knows what happened but doesn't tell anyone, thinking "maybe it's the fox, and even if it's not, those people were worth it".

One could have also stuck around, and killed Mizuki before ANBU arrived, torture him ? do something Naruto-ish with him ?

Each times he creates clones, some are following his unconscious needs: for revenge? and maybe they escalate things ? They train in murder/assassination/mindfuck, by purposely doing bad things, and Naruto always dream about it, gets training in it, while thinking "it's just dreams", because the clones always wait for the night to dispell, after all, they don't want the boss to know it's him doing that, but not exactly him ...

Or maybe we could remove the "revenge", and simply make his clones follow unconscious needs, like friendship, they henge and go hangout with other people, they infiltrate tons of things, others villages, one could find Hinata spying on their creator, one could observe Sasuke training, one could ... with always the thought that "I can't be implicated or suspected, and the boss can't know of this, I shouldn't be doing this". There must always be that strange polarity with "I'm me, but not exactly, I'm a clone, but still ..."

Thoughts ?

edit 1:
-The fox would be aware of all that, and could mock/laugh at Naruto because he doesn't know what's happening. He could try to influence those errant clones.
-When the clones attain a sufficiently high level of social-awareness, Naruto could encounter them and not even realize that those are his clones ruled by his unconscious. He could find himself with the 3rd person view of his behaviour, change it ? keep it ?

So how does the chakra get replenished? They would eventually run out and dispel.

Did I imply that they stayed for a long time ? T'was not my intent.

I meant that in the majority of cases, the clones would dispell shortly after, during the night or something. We can infer that Naruto pretty much use clones for everything. So he could use them in the everyday life, and forget about them.

And those clones would fuck around, not casting chakra intensive ninjutsu, but more like ... henge, and traps, simple kunai uses (that then dispel when the clone does, thus no trace), etc.

Sarutobi promptly tells Naruto what's going on and locks him in a nice padded room until Naruto masters the jutsu.

Maybe I'm getting the wrong idea about this, but what you're saying doesn't really fit. If Naruto is saying, "it's not me," then that implies his clones are doing things he wouldn't normally do himself. He knows they are his clones, he summoned them and recovers their memories and they are extensions of his personality. If they are doing things he is not conscious of and wouldn't do himself then you're not doing it right.

It could be rationalized that since they won't survive long enough to be punished they feel that they can act. That does mean that they don't care what happens to the original.

Or you could alter it so that the personality of a clone is -anything- but the personality of the creator.

And if Naruto is Jesus-Mode, any of his clones would be anything but Jesus-Mode which can imply neutral/evil/slightly_good/greater!good

You're talking at face value the title of the topic, which again, is my fault. Naruto has no idea it's him. He only dreams about it, because (sue me), all the clones unconsciously (ALWAYS unconscious when it's weird clones) know that when they release, Naruto gains the experience, thus they always wait for the night => the strange dreams.

His clones would go to ridiculous ways to not be caught doing whatever.

Then, there's 2 roads, or both in one. Either it's his "other" personalities (It's not the one I had in mind). Or it's is unconscious (again that word). That word is so fucking general, and "masters" of the topic so fucking ignorant really, that we can go anywhere with it.

Could be like a Clark Kent with red Kryptonite, remove his inhibitions, all of them : violence, sex, revenge ...

Could be his deep thoughts (*hint hint*): that he's aware of Hinata, he knows Sakura despises him and he has no hope ...

And of course, only the clones that went outside of his "control" field or whatever, become like that.

And nobody would tell Naruto anything, because nobody knows it's him : it's only dreams right ?

But because those errant clones are half aware and unaware, push the limits, they could on one hand act like Naruto, on the other hand
they won't survive long enough to be punished they feel that they can act. That does mean that they don't care what happens to the original.
Hope that cleared it for some people.

The moment their actions warrant an investigation by a talented chuunin, or Neji, they will be found out.

I'm sure Konoha has crime so in the short term he can get away with a lot so long as his clones take care not to implicate him. Even murder. Multiple murders! I'd go with some type of moral degradation in order to give more credence to the actions. Naruto was a really bad day away from not caring when he was younger, but hardcore revenge is a little bit of a hard sell right after Iruka acknowledging him on top of his decision to be better. Twist it some and that could work by accentuating that disparity in attachment.

But to what end is this going toward? Naruto subconsciously offing everyone who hurt him? Eventually facing something like the waterfall doppelganger in an inner battle for his mind/soul/body? If so for how long-wave arc, chuunin exams etc?

Anyway it's late so have some paragraphs (May or may not take into account any of the things I have so sparsely mentioned above):

They stop without comment or signal, the mob of would-be ninja unified in an instant, immediately moving back and away as one. As Mizuki lay motionless on the forest floor before him, Naruto knows what just happened, what he had done was not a victory. Everything in that moment is perceived and set to assault himàa thousand bodies using footfistelbowkneeheadàwith the truth until heÆs overwhelmed.

Until heÆs defending
Then defenseless
As he lay dea-

Iruka is there immediately and wraps Naruto in his arms, breaking the boy away from his thoughts and that is unfortunate. He hugs him back and with a new focus the experience and horrible dawning truth is pushed down and shunted back into the vault of his mind where everything he doesnÆt understand or canÆt bluff himself above is kept recessed and hidden away.

The chance to absorb the situation and let it settle, to feel something about it outside and beyond the hot disordered mess of instinct had passed. Tempered in only the heat of the moment and anger that feeling was raw, jagged, and fractured when dragged away, leaving pieces of itself outside that vault.

Abandoned, ignored, scorned, lied to, betrayed and attacked for reasons he had not known and were never his fault, when Mizuki died by his hand, Uzumaki Naruto liked it.

Seeking comfort for some reason he couldnÆt say in IrukaÆs ruined front and the chuunin ragged and focused on supporting his excellent student, neither are aware of the dozens of clones retreating into the forest. They had survived by virtue of being the last wave; escaping destruction by Mizuki or the other clones in the mad scrum before the teacher was overpowered. Mizuki could have been saved before they arrived. No longer of the same mind as their creator, they faced the truth he hadnÆt.
To the original it would have been devastating; to the clones it was satisfying

In a ninja village the walls may have all five senses and possibly a genjutsu to make one lose track of their own all together. However, vigilance is not omnipresent and any manner of unfortunate things can occur, especially for those determined and well-practiced at mischief.
---
While Naruto was fed the finest ramen by the grateful princess on his throne of defeated villains in the feudal lordÆs castle, he shivered in his bed from the sensations of dark delight that passed into his memory.

He jolted awake in a panic from the clamoring of alarms and shouts from outside.

Within moments he was hanging outside his apartment, clambering up the railing to see the village. In every direction there was activity; shinobi and civilian emergency workers were on the roads and rooftops carrying supplies and dispersing crowds. Smoke rose up in huge columns from the forest and nearby buildings. Already hopping between roofs, Naruto saw that many of the shops and homes around the village were defaced as he went to east toward the closest group of responders. He threw an arm out against a pipe to swing back to an alley he was leaping over. The narrow passage was cluttered with garbage cans and loose trash, but near the entrance three officers of the seldom seen Konoha police force were gathered.
Behind them and the crowd was a covered corpseà

HeÆd been alone in the alley snooping through the garbage when the hand grabbed him by the head and smashed it into the wall. The face dragged against the rough stone as the body fell to the floor. His features were pulped. His eyes lost in the mess, forever unable the stare with that cold gaze.

He lost his grip on the pipe as the scenario flashed through his head and hit the ground in a poor roll. His perch had been just above the body and he reached the shroud before the startled trio could reach him. The face beneath the cover was a mess of flesh and Naruto scrambled away from it.

Hands fisted in his hair the boy turned to the rushing officers. ôWhat the hell is going on?ö

Something something something...and then from there Naruto tries to figure it out in the week I believe he has before the genin are assigned teachers and possibly beyond.

Meh, read it when I was tired, forgot to reply.

This is what I was thinking about in terms of ... technicality. Rogue clones, Naruto not sure if dreams, visions or whatever, and "crimes" (in your case) without any evidence because kage bunshins don't leave any.

It's good. Long term we could still have Naruto ignorant of his rogue clones, or taking advantages of it ... dunno. Maybe i'll try to spin it later... much later.
