Bleach kido question

#1
I was wondering, if a shinigami slays a hollow using kido rather than his zanpakuto, will the hollow be cleansed and sent to soul society or destroyed like a Quincy victim?
If cleansed, what does that mean? do Kido in particular have the ability to cleanse hollows like a zanpakuto or maybe all reitsu charged attacks made by a shinigami have the capacity to cleanse a hollow?
I'd like to hear other peoples opinions or maybe get some facts.

Considering their stance on destroying souls it's likely that any attack done by a shinigami purifies spirits. Otherwise both kidou and unarmed fighting would be banned.

Personally I think "purifying" is just an euphemism for "killing." As long as the shinigami don't permanently destroy any of the souls gaged inside a hollow (like the quincy), it doesn't matter whether they kill it with kido, kitchen equipment, or whatever that strikes their fancy. Just killing the vessel doesn't harm the soul.

It could be that Quincy arrows weren't designed to do damage, but to target the soul itself for revenge.

My personal theory is that the powers of a zanpakuto bleeds into the shinigami's spiritual energies, rendering all their spiritually powered attacks "purifying".

The problem with that is that you don't have to achieve shikai to graduate. And until they do that they're just spirits with a sword shaped object made of their own power.

Offensive Kido above number 90 are stated to be soul destroying I believe, so that would suggest that those killed by lower kido are not destroyed. Now, whether they are purified or not is unknown.

We just don't know what happens to Hollows that are killed by anything other than a Quincy or a Zanpakto, except that their souls aren't destroyed.

Unless otherwise specified, I highly recommend assuming that a Hollow killed by an attack, any attack, is purified.

And really the only things we know of so far that will destroy a soul are Quincy attacks and that Execution blade who's name I forget. Level 90 Kido being soul destroying is Fanon as far as I know.

Sokyoku, Vex.

And speaking of, if you're going to get into the grounds of what purifies a Hollow and what destroys it: what are Orihime and Chad doing when they 'kill' a Hollow, or even when any character kills an Arrancar (I mean, are they like a Soul Reaper who dissipates when they die 'a second time', or are they still like a Hollow, whose soul is purified?)? It's really kind of an interesting question at that level...

Well again, unless otherwise specified you should assume Hollows are either being purified back into normal souls, or failing that being reincarnated as mortals. We don't really have any more inrformation right now and this is the best we're going to get.

Actually, I think one of the scanlations that called kido over 90 Soul Destruction kido. I don't remember which chapter it was, so I can't back it up unfortunately. It's possible it was just a mistake in translation.

Just how many hollows have Chad and Orihime killed anyways? I don't think it was a high number.

Orihime's only killed that hollow at the beginning.

Chad's killed his respective hollow along with an Espada, or Former-Espada, whatever.

The Privaron Chad fought didn't die, so his hollow kill count is still just the first one.

That's what I thought. They have a long way to go before Soul Society cares.
