Pretty self explanatory, just a compilation of the various mecha Tropes. Feel free to chip in.

Based off of this topic: http://z14.invisionfree.com/The_Fanfiction...opic=12324&st=0

1. Mecha are like people. They need names to be recognized, and need to socialize with their pilots.

2. All attacks much be shouted to improve their effectiveness.

3. All minor characters are required to submit their names and picture, along with a short biography, to the leader. The leader is required to memorize these and mention them often. This makes them mor eimportant and less likely to die.

4. All mecha's must be equipped with some form of hand to hand combat in order to be effective against other mecha.

Equations relating to Mecha:

A Mecha's Power is increased by a factor of A*V where A is the Awesomeness of the Mecha's Themesong, and V is the Volume it is playing at.

Mecha's gain more power based upon R/T, where R is the number of items fo clothing removed, and T is the total number of clothes remaining.

A female Mecha's Pilot increases relative to the skimpiness/tightness of her pilot uniform.

A male mecha pilot's effectiveness is enhanced by the size of his sideburns.

Prototype, highly dangerous experimental mecha are the best.

All mecha can be run on alternate energy sources.

Corollary to the above: many times this alternate energy provided comes from organic sources. Do not make the ShinRa mistake.

Alien mecha are good. Human mecha made with reverse engineered alien technology are better.

More?

Ougi from Code Geass contradicts that one. He had huge burns and he got his ass beat in the first ep of CG.

Lelouch's current notes of the world.

So far, it can be seen that this world I live on follows Real Robot Laws. Therefore, I must unfortunately disregard much of the Hot Blooded ideals and Sideburns I enjoy so much. But all hope is not yet lost. I have noticed a great deal of power being given to those with masks in Real Robot settings. It is my hope that this will boost my efficiency rating. Sidenote: Check out flamboyant capes as an addition to the mask.

I have not had a chance to pilot a frame just yet, so I am currently unsure as to my level of talent. It is my greatest hope that should I Fall Into the Cockpit, I will achieve a high level of aptitude in piloting. I have been currently unable to find out whether any psychic phenomena such as Newtype Syndrome actually exists.

Currently, Nunally fulfills the quota of "Cute Little Sister" and may well possibly grow into a romantic figure after seeing the history of my Royal Family. I will have to see if there is any way to avoid this. My current status as a student allows me to fill the quota of Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World. Unfortunately, I expect those days to be quite a while off. To maximize the level of mystery I will possess when I start my crusade, I will purposely skip classes and sleep heavily to reinforce the idea of Rich Idiot With No Day Job.

It is my fondest desire to see Milly as a pilot as her eccentric attitude would boost victory probabilities by at least 2%, but I think I must face facts in seeing her as the Big Sister Figure. That is where she will do the most good to my cause.

Current Status of Knightmare Frames.

They are smaller than most of the Real Robots I have encountered in my studies, but that is no problem. I have discovered that size rarely matters in mecha fights as does mass unless there are cross-overs. Because this is the real world, I do not expect that to be a problem.

Flight is still too difficult for the frames and will set my plans back quite a bit. I also remember that Knightmare Frame start ups are fairly soft, so I will have to do my hardest to convince my designers to put in as many turbines and plasma jets on the frames to increase noise and Rule Of Cool.

The most likely thing that will happen to get combination mecha will probably be backpack attachments.

Wishful Thinking:

This is quite embarrassing for me to admit, but I must say I want to see a functional Rocket Punch. Energy swords are quite nice but Rocket Punches and Drills are the ideal weapons of men, and it is my greatest desire to see them on my mecha.

Forget rocket punch.

I want to see a Mecha Donkey Punch.

Wouldn't you need to dress your opponent's mecha in a skirt for that to work. Would the Gurren get rocket boobs?

I'm going to cry from all those TvTropes Tropes.

Human Mecha made from the reanimated corpses of aliens are even better, but may require the pilot to be dipped in some kind of inexplicably breathable fluid. These mecha may also run the risk of going completely batshit insane, in accordance with the Frankenstein effect.

Last minute/mid-battle upgrades to a mecha will always be untested and never fail to work. Flight capability will often be part of the standard mid-battle upgrade package.

Lelouch already follows the last one. But you should something to the effect that flight upgrades are always added when you're on an airship or falling to your death.

1. Untested heat-and-light based weapons with zero information on possible side effects will outperform normal ballistic-and-explosion based weapons.

2. When using mecha that can fly, there is no need for the pilots to wear specialized suits to compensate for the g-forces or masks and oxygen tanks.

3. Further, when these mecha are being used in aerial combat there is no need to attempt to make the designs more aerodynamic. The mecha will inevitably outperform machines designed for aerial combat anyway.

4. It is entirely possible for a singe pilot in an advanced mecha to outperform and annihilate a small army of formerly cutting edge mecha.

5. When being picked up and held by a mecha there is no need to worry that the mechas limbs will damage a human or small animal in any way. The mechas limbs will have been designed in such a way that they are capable of lifting an egg without cracking it or breaking a battleship into two separate pieces.

6. A mecha can only be destroyed by another mecha. All attempts to destroy a mecha using explosives or ballistics will only meet with failure.

7. The likelihood of a mecha actually being destroyed by a non-mecha is shown in this calculation where F=100% when NM2 where F (Failure) is 100% certain when NM (Non-Mecha) is equal to or greater than two. In layman's terms, when two or more non-mecha machines are being used to combat a mecha there is absolutely no chance of victory.

8. When a mecha is destroyed it will be consumed by a giant explosion that does very little damage to the surrounding environment, regardless of the weapon used to destroy the mecha.

9. When a mechas legs have been damaged, contrary to all common sense the mecha will not be effectively immobilized on land.

10. All skilled engineers of mecha will have an obsession with outperforming a rival, furthering their impressive skills at multiple different fields of science, and will have poor social skills. The best method if using them is to allow them almost no oversight or security, and instead permit them to design advanced military weapons however they wish whenever they wish.

Number nine is referring to all mecha in general. If a machine only fights in the sky and not on land it isn't a mecha.

It occurred to me that we could use several of these in a list of Things I Will Do If I Become A Mecha Pilot.

Number nine needs to be ammended. If the mecha is capable of flight the loss of legs will immobilise the mecha even if its method of propulsion is undamaged.
