I've been reading through The Secret History of Star Wars and wondering about some of the decisions made during the making sequels about the back story, such as the abovementioned decision to make Darth Vader be the same person as Anakin Skywalker.

What if those decisions hadn't been made?

For example, what if ObiWan was telling the truth in the first place - he and Anakin were friends, Darth Vader was simply a younger student of Obi-Wan?

What if the Jedi weren't the deeply anal religious order portrayed in the prequels (for that matter why are they all wearing desert robes? in the original film Obi-Wan only wore them because he was on Tattonine and Luke's clothes in RotJ were more typical of a jedi uniform) but more of a militia of those trained in the Force?

What if Luke and Leia weren't siblings? That was only decided on for RotJ based on a throwaway remark on ESB. What if they were cousins (Anakin married Vader's sister) or not related at all?

Or what if the Force was always something as portrayed in the first film - a form of ESP but none of the telekinesis or wirework stunts that later emerged?


Just a few ideas for anyone that wants to follow them up...

Unfortunately the Telekinetic tricks start even in A New Hope (Vader chokes the guy in the meeting with Tarkin). The wirework level ones are a bit excessive in the end though and could be worked around.

Well, IIRC, Heavy Armor broke the concentration for more difficult force spells in KOTOR I and II. You could only use push, and throw lightsaber in the first one with armor on, if I remember correctly.

Any armor, and also unrestricted were Heal, the Stun->Disable->Destroy Droid, the energy absorbtion one, the Stun Person up to Stasis Field and the Dark Side three tiers of the whole Fear line (arguably my favorite ability). IIRC.
