Well, while I agree with DKG that Naru does have a 'few' positive attributes, those are SERIOUSLY taken down by the violent behavior. If true with the anime, than that would be one of the positive aspects about her protrayal there (otherwise, I thought it was horrible all around).

And I would even say that she should be avoided at all cost if she doesn't control her temper. Being a hot babe or not (one of the least hot babes in LH, but I still say that she is), I don't want to be punched into LEO either because "Opps! I accidently fell on this young girl here due to my rotten luck!" <_< And seriously, by the end of the series, Naru should have known that he isn't as bad as they say he is.

You never had my math teacher. The whole "teachers have to be patient" myth is bullshit. All they ask of teachers nowadays is that they know their academic stuff, patience is valued very little, assuming it's considered at all.

This is, sadly, becoming increasingly true in today's world, mostly because public education is a giant load of shit.

Now, GOOD teachers? They're patient. Too bad there's too few of them these days.

Geez, y'all act like Naru's Satan incarnate! C'mon, even Naru's got some redeeming qualities. She's attractive for one (I'd put her above Mutsumi, though not by much), she's patient when she wants to be (she becomes a schoolteacher, such qualities are fucking required), and she does treat Keitaro kindly every now and then (like when she voluntarily agrees to not tell everyone that Keitaro ISN'T in Tokyo University at the very beginning). Yes, Naru gets violent often (though usually it's due to Keitaro's rotten luck and clumsiness, or because the person getting beaten up deserves it [like Kentaro, as I've heard that he gets a few Naru-punches of his own in the anime]), but that doesn't make her something to be avoided like the plague.

It's not like acknowledging that Naru has SOME positive attributes is gonna cause a portal to hell to open up behind you where Satan will come out, spit in your eye, kick you in the balls, piss on you, then toss you down to where Dominatrix Naru is waiting to beat the shit out of you for all eternity.

Err, actually no.

I mean, I don't find her that attractive... at all, and it's not even her personality. Granted, there are few qualities on her I find cute (the antenna hair for one), but over all I find her the least nice looking of the entire cast. As for her treating Keitaro nicely... No. Naru may treat Keitaro nicely, but it's rare, and (if we're going to look at it from at a non-comedic POV) it's no excuse whatsoever. Kicking a puppy repeatedly and then apologizing and petting it... then kicking it some more, doesn't really endear somebody to me.

Regardless, don't really like Naru. However, I don't really care to bash her, she does what she does. *shrug* Keitaro's an idiot for actually taking it anyway.

Ema is like the everygirl to keitaro's everyman persona. Shes cute, but not a sex goddess like some of the other girls.

Heh. Well, looks is a superficial attribute so we could be arguing all day and it won't get us anywhere.

I will say (continuing the superficial debate. ), in terms of looks, I think her figure (when it isn't covered up in ugly manish clothing and the stupidiest glasses I have seen for a character), and her face to a less extent, EXTREMELY lesser extent, I find attractive on her. However, her 'spiffy' personality has COMPLETELY destroyed any 'hawtness' she had. <_<

That being said, living in a family full of 'glasses wearing nerds', I never found them attractive and so, that hurts Ema a bit since Akamatsu is obviously going for that look for her IMO (same is true for The Paper in Read or Die, Sheska in FMA). Now, on one level, she is attractive, and I'd certainly take her over say, Happosai. <_< I just don't rank her past Naru yet (maybe if she filled out, different story. But still...).

Oh yeah, and any protrayal of the characters in the anime is dead to me since, for the most part, it is non-canon. <_< As for Naru being kind to Keitaro, there are cases of that. And AFAIK, this was truer in the mangas than in the anime. However, that still was not enough for me to look past the MASSIVE amount of violence Naru uses against Keitaro. Accidents or not. -_-
