Man, and the music was bloody perfect too. Loved the trailer.

Can't wait to see Robert Downey Jr. in action again. He's probably my favorite actor.

Anyone else wanna lay odds on Rescue showing up?
I would not be surprised. I do wonder how many of the people we know from the comics are in the Iron Man Corps.

Nah it's tony controlling all the armors with his mind. They showed him having that ability in a bit of the trailers.

Is it just me, or does Mandarin have a lot of the Heath Ledger Joker in his speech patterns?

That does make sense, since they said something about using the Extremis storyline in this movie. I'm just betting that much like Rhodey in the War Machine/Iron Patriot suit that Pepper is going to get an individualized suit separate from the Iron Legion Tony's going to be running. Though I did like what looked like a hulkbuster suit there at the end.

Possibly.

Though I've got to say. I think the scene from the first trailer where the armor wakes Tony up is either not as dramatic or a complete dream/nightmare sequence.

I figured since both trailers have heavily implied that Tony can't sleep but in that scene during the trailer what is Tony doing? Sleeping.

I was already assuming it was a nightmare as he mentioned having them in the previous trailer.

Just got back from watching a matinee of Iron Man 3, and I have to say it's great.

I think there were a few minor missteps but, IMHO, it beat Iron Man 2.

Now that we have actual spoiler tags, I'd say pretty soon. But wait a few weeks. The movie just came out, after all.

I'm just gonna say

for a good chunk of the movie I was distracted by going "Tony Stark is a Time Lord" because of what he called himself in the note he left.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Thor: The Dark World. It looks to be considerably more epic than the first Thor film.

I loved the short interation between Thor and an imprisoned Loki.

Loki: You must be truly desperate, to come to me for help.
Thor: You should know that when you betray me, I will kill you.
Loki: *amused grin* When do we start?

Also, Loki's hair.

I loved Iron Man 3. I'm personally putting it up there with The Avengers as my favorite.

Holy shit man. Loved it.

I thought Iron Man 3 was pretty bland and unappealing. 46 or so suits and none of them have guns? Or missiles? Or lasers/blades/darts/kitchen sinks!? Nope, gotta go hand-to-hand, and fall apart at the first sign of a hit, cause goodness knows that heat isn't something you'd want to protect your armor from.

Then there's the eye-rolling predictable evil military industrial complex bad-guy. Frankly the only good part of the whole movie was Stark's interaction with the kid.

As it's going to take place within the verse, I'll just let folks know that Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series has been picked up by ABC.

You do know that every single one of those were prototypes right? Because of his PTSD he just kept working and working on suits. None of them were actually finished.

Indeed, and he was forced to rely on the prototype suits because all his properly finished, battle-tested suits, including the Mark 7 he wore during the final battle in The Avengers, were blown up by the helicopter missiles before he could suit up in one of them.

And most of them did have missiles, guns and blades. They just didn't always work right due to them being untested prototypes. Hence why Tony blew up one of the helicopters by pulling a malfunctioning missile out of his arm-mounted launcher, threw it at the helicopter and detonated it with a repulsor blast. And I guess you must have missed the scene where Tony severed Killian's left arm with a wrist-mounted sword?

Personally I preferred that Tony was significantly handicapped for much of the movie, either using prototype and damaged suits or being forced out of the suit altogether. In The Avengers he was going toe-to-toe with an alien invasion fleet, if had a whole fleet of suits with that kind of power it would have been a pretty boring movie since Tony would have just curbstomped all the bad guys.

My only complaint about the movie:
How the hell was Killian able to pilot the War Machine suit? When Tonyl's Iron Legion showed up to fight the extremis soldiers, Rhodes asked Tony for a suit only for Tony to reply that he couldn't because they were all calibrated and locked to his body so no one else could fly them. So why wasn't War Machine synced only to Rhodes body in the same way? And how did Killian remote control the War Machine suit to kidnap the President? I don't recall him installing wifi implants in his arms and upgrading the suit with that functionality like Tony did with his newer suits.

It wasn't Killian who wore the suit, but thats a hole nonetheless. It was his right-hand man. The suit wasn't remote controlled. That dude was in it. He got the president, switched out, and was ready to parachute off before MK43(?) showed up.

Ah right I was wondering how that dude got on the plane, should have payed more attention to the movie but I was getting tired. But he did still remote control the suit, they put the president in it and had it fly him to Killian against his will.
