Whoa. Comparing the pictures I had just posted here, once again I am struck with clean, sensible lines of the original Gundams. The green Dijeh was somewhat... embarrassing.

By the way, whoever those guys were piloting the MAC II Destroid "Monster" - they were, quite clearly, awesome.

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention my love for Garrod Ran and The GX Divider. Harmonica Cannon is love~
Mmm. I keep seeing X mentioned, tonight. This is one statement I'm quoting for truth. We've seen shields with integrated weapons in them - Sazabi, Nu and Hi-Nu come to mind. We've even seen shields Mega-particle cannons in them before - such as the Bawoo and Jagd Doga.

But X Divider takes the cake. A shield with, what, eighteen battleship-grade mega-particle cannons, as well as vernier thrusters for added maneuverability?

Oh God, yes. Loev.

Sanger rides Elzam anyway.
Fixed that for you, GH. :p

EDIT: To avoid double-posting.

Gentlemen, ladies and members of the FBI. I have discovered something shocking. While Gundam Wing was my gateway series to mecha anime, I had long since grown tired of it. The clumsy philosophy, the flat characterisation, the inconsistent pacing and the clunky plot. The awkward, blinged-out Gundams and their min-maxing tendencies. Plot armor on par with CE.

Yet within the past week, I have discovered a handful of things which make Wing an interesting, nay, an enjoyable romp through Mecha-land. Allow me to spell them out, as much for your edification as my own justification.

1) Ver.Ka

2) Hikaru Midorikawa.

3) Takehito Koyasu.

I think this is the best place to post this. Three files with most (if not all) the openings of Japanese mecha shows from 1963 to 2004.

Part 1 : 1963(Astro boy)---1985(NInja Warrior Tobikage)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0TAZI2IO

Part 2 : 1986(Gundam ZZ)--1996(Chosha Raideen)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S7W6NL2T

Part 3 : 1997(Gundam W - Endless Waltz)--2004(Diebuster)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PSSCNE3Z

It's interesting to see the evolution in the animation styles and the divergence between the Super Robot and Real Robot genres.
