Megaten MMO

To start off, let's just say I despise Aeria games. I dislike free MMO models with cash shops as the inducers. Them and Funcom are the great Evil as the business model is better in some ways than normal MMOs.

Especially since the one time I played a free online game I ended up spending more per month than for a normal subscription model MMO.

I decided that had to stop. It worked.

One year later, and Aeria does this to me:

Megaten MMO

They are evil, but they'll end up owning my soul if they do this right.

To Preempt:

I realize Aeria is just a Publisher that localizes games for distribution, but that can be real hit or miss. For example Funcom's Mabinogi had a horrible localization until recently, when they decided to strictly adhere to a patch schedule reminiscent of the original game's patches.

So Aeria can in fact screw this up...it would just take a lot on effort on their part to do it.

And yes, I'm an Atlus fanboy. They can do no wrong.

Aha! I looked at the screenshots, and my ancient PC clearly can't handle this game.

Another dastardly plan foiled by outdated technology. ^_^

Tried out the JP version before, I liked it even though I didn't get very far since I can't read kanji. I signed up for the beta a week or so ago, hopefully I can now play this while being able to understand everything.

I'm tempted, but haven't signed up yet. There's not a lot of information I could find.

Hope that gives you enough information.

Probably too much since the game definitely will not have all the content at beta/let alone release.

Well that's a bit of good news.

According to Play! magazine, the MegaTen MMO will be free to play. Money will be made via in-game transactions.

I can't ever see myself paying for an MMO, but a few themed clothes and maybe an in-game clubhouse? I'm cool with that.

I just hope they don't sell game breaking weaponry for outside currency. That'd be a pain.

Yeah. I've only been playing the game for two days, and I already hate Aeria.

First, in order to store items or demons, you must buy a pass (300 ap(Aeria Points) for a 30 day items pass, and 600 ap for a 30 day demon pass).

Items that allow you to mount and ride on your demons. There is one free from a quest, the others cost 300-400 ap

And apparently, if there are too many players on, they boot you. At least, thats what just happened to me...

Anyways, Aeria points cost about $10 for 1000, with bonus points the more you buy at once. I suppose if I had a job, this wouldn't be too bad. But living off of financial aid at college means I have a finite income. Thankfully, some nice people sell AP items for Macca (currency you can farm off mobs). Course, the 300-400 ap riding items are going for 50,000 macca.

50,000 is underpriced. I haven't played in awhile, the but the ratio for selling items is usually something like 1000 to 1.

I almost never seem to be in situations where they would boot you for too many people being on, but they will autoboot everyone at around a certain time each day (somewhere between 1:30 and 2:45 am EST).

The Aeria Points thing, it would be a bit better if the free Aeria Points offers didn't always demand a credit card anyways. In the meantime, until I get a better source of income, no Aeria Points for me.

Also, there is a free item storage. 50 Slots. You have to pay for tickets to get more storage spaces though.
