Keitaro Urashima sighed. He was beginning to have second thoughts about the decision he’d made. After all, it wasn’t every day that 12 year-olds left home because their parents were going through incredibly messy divorces.

“But will Aunt Haruka help me? It’s not like she’s exactly been supportive to any of us in the Urashima family…” the bespectacled youth mused sadly.

“Err, excuse me, could you please step aside?”

Keitaro turned to see an attractive young woman with long blue-black hair laden down with several heavy looking bags of groceries. “Oh, sorry about that.”

“That’s ok,” the woman smiled. She started to walk past him. “Are you looking for anything in particular?”

“Yeah, sorry, I’m looking for the Hinata Teashop. My aunt runs it.”

“You’re related to Haruka-san?”

The young Urashima nodded. “I need to speak with her, it’s kinda important.”

“I see, well, if you’re willing to help me, then I’ll lead you there. All you have to do is carry some of these bags for me.”

“Ok,” Keitaro nodded. “I’m Keitaro Urashima, what’s your name?”

“I’m Shinobu Maehara,” Shinobu smiled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

The pair walked slowly and silently up the hill towards the teashop that Haruka Urashima ran. Shinobu didn’t try to press for information – knew from her own experiences that people often needed to be left alone. She remembered the trouble she had opening up to people when she first arrived in Hinata.

“Here we are, Keitaro-kun,” she said with a smile before taking her bags off her new acquaintance. “Haruka-san! You’ve got a guest.”

“What? Oh, hi Shinobu, who’s your friend… Keitaro, is that you?” the smoking woman asked.

“Hi, Aunt Haruka,” Keitaro waved nervously.

“And what brings you here?” Haruka asked folding her arms across her chest. “Do your parents know where you are?”

“…” the bespectacled youth looked at the floor.

“For crying out loud, I was only joking Keitaro! Now come here and give me a hug,” the elder Urashima ordered.

Keitaro did as he was told. “Sorry, Aunt Haruka. It’s just that things aren’t going too well at home.”

“I’d heard,” Haruka deadpanned. “Now let me have a proper look at you… Well, I don’t think you’re going have too much trouble finding a nice girl in a couple of years.”

The young man blushed under his aunt’s scrutiny.

“But there is one problem that we need to get sorted as soon as possible.”

“What’s that?” Keitaro asked, concern written all over his face.

Haruka’s face softened into a smile. “You should call me ‘Haruka-neesan’ rather than ‘Aunt Haruka’. Got that?”

“Sorry, Haruka-neesan; I’ll try to remember from now on.”

The smoker led her nephew to an empty seat. “So then, what brings you here?”

“Mum and Dad have stopped talking to each other. They had a big row last night, I’m not sure what it was about, but Mum was a bit drunk,” Keitaro explained. “And at breakfast this morning, Dad didn’t seem to acknowledge me. It’s just not home anymore, so I decided to leave.”

“And where are you staying?”

“…I was kind of hoping that you’d help me out by letting me stay at your place.”

“I don’t have the room here, Keitaro,” Haruka sighed. She winced when she saw the depressed expression on the boy’s face. “But that doesn’t mean that I can’t help you. I know a place that has plenty of room, and I’m even on good terms of the manager.”

“I’d really appreciate that Au- Haruka-neesan,” Keitaro said, his face lighting up. “Where’s this place?”

“It’s up the hill. Don’t you remember visiting here when you were a kid?”

“Err I think I remember something. Wasn’t there a girl with blonde-ish hair?” the youth asked scratching his own, dark brown mess of hair. “She seemed kinda sad…”

“Yes, that was Mitsune,” Haruka explained. “Seta had just left to go on an expedition and not told us.”

Keitaro saw the look of anger flash briefly across his aunt’s face. “Mitsune? No, I don’t remember that name.”

Haruka lit up a cigarette and took a drag. “Her friends call her Kitsune. You know, like the fox.”

“Now I remember,” the middle school student said, clicking his fingers in recognition. A light blush crept across his cheeks. “S-she kissed me.”

“Oh, and why would she do that?” the smoking woman asked, tapping some ash into the nearest ashtray.

“I might have promised to do what I can to make her happy because she looked so sad,” Keitaro mumbled.

Haruka looked at the clock. ‘Closing time already? Where did the day go?’ She worked a crick out of her neck. “Hey, if you help me clear up here, I’ll take you to the Inn and introduce you to the residents.”

The younger Urashima nodded and started to clear the nearest table. “Won’t the landlord want to meet me?”

“You’ve already met her, Keitaro you smooth-talking playboy. I didn’t expect you to pick up Shinobu-chan,” the smoker teased. “And to cheat on Kitsune-chan… Damn you are a playboy, aren’t you? Have you got any idea what she’ll say when she finds out you’ve been talking to other women?”

“But I wasn’t doing anything wrong! I was only helping her with her shopping because she said she’d bring me here!” the increasingly flustered Keitaro protested.

It was too much for Haruka who burst out laughing. “I’m sorry, Keitaro, I was just teasing you. Let me lock up and switch everything off and I’ll walk you up there.”

@@@@@

The Urashimas didn’t make much small talk as they walked up the hill, though there was one thing that Haruka had made abundantly clear.

“If anyone asks about our relationship, I want you to tell them that we’re cousins, ok? No more of this Haruka-obasan, got it?”

“B-but why?”

“Because, dear Keitaro, I don’t like being reminded that I’m still single,” the spinster explained. “Every time you call me ‘oba-san’, I’ll call you ‘Keitaro-chan’ or maybe I’ll mix in ‘kid’ a few times…”

“Ok, Haruka-neechan,” Keitaro nodded glumly.

“Oh cheer up, Keitaro, it’s not like you’re going to be picked on when you’re here,” Haruka insisted. “Besides, these people are my friends. You do trust my judgement when it comes to people, don’t you?”

“I do, but it’s just that I haven’t made many friends lately,” the visiting youth replied sadly.

Haruka stepped in front of her nephew and held his shoulders so she had his undivided attention. “Look, these friends of mine are good people. They wouldn’t hurt you, Keitaro. Trust me on this.”

“Ok, Haruka-san. Hey, do you think that Kitsu-neechan still remembers me?”

“She should do,” the teashop proprietor smiled. “Though, I don’t think she expected you to grow into such a handsome young man.”

“Haruka-san~!” Keitaro protested. “You’re embarrassing me!”

Haruka continued to smile until they reached their destination and let herself in. “Hi all, it’s me, Haruka and I’ve brought a guest.”

“Oh, hi Haruka-san,” Shinobu greeted with a smile. “So this is Keitaro-kun is it?”

“Yep, I’d like to talk with you and the others if that’s possible,” the smoker said.

@@@@@

A short while later, Haruka had gathered most of her friends in the common room to explain what was going on. “Right then, since we’re all here, I’d like to introduce my cousin to you. This is Keitaro Urashima; he’ll be staying here for a while.”

“Why?” Naru asked as she cast a pointed look at the visiting male. “I don’t mean to be rude, but surely he should be staying with his parents, such upheaval would be distracting to his studies.”

Motoko nodded in agreement

“Yes, well there’s something that I need to tell you. My brother is going through a tough time with his marriage at the moment, and THAT is what’s disrupting Keitaro’s studies,” the Haruka clarified.

“…” the kendoist winced when she saw the look of sadness on the young Urashima’s face. “My apologies, Keitaro-kun, Naru-sempai didn’t mean to cause you any distress. If Haruka-san wants you to stay here, then I think that we can come to some sort of arrangement, don’t you, Naru-sempai?”

“Yes,” the Toudai aspirant nodded vigorously in an attempt to back-pedal. Haruka wasn’t one who suffered those that upset the more vulnerable members of her family.

“Well then, since that’s sorted,” the smoker smiled, “what room can you put Keitaro-kun in, Shinobu-chan?”

“Err, I think that we can put him in room…324, that’s not a problem, is it?” the manager of the inn asked everyone present.

She got a series of nods and smiled at her newest tenant. “I’ll show you the way. Did you bring anything with you, Keitaro-kun?”

“No,” the bespectacled young man shook his head. “I sort of left at short notice this morning.”

“I see, well, I’ll have a word with your father explaining what’s going on,” Haruka smiled reassuringly. “In the mean time, when why don’t you take a dip in the hot springs?”

“Can I?” Keitaro asked, his face lighting up cutely.

“Yes, but you should know that this was turned into an all girls dormitory, so you won’t be able to use the springs as and when you like,” Shinobu explained. She knew that Naru and Motoko wouldn’t like it if males, even if they were as young and cute as Keitaro, were allowed complete access to the hot spring.

“Yes, we’ll work out a rota,” Motoko nodded sagely. “Now get going so we can prepare your room.”

As Shinobu led the latest addition to the Hinata House to his room, Haruka turned to the swordswoman.

“That was rather kind of you, Motoko-chan.”

“Well, I felt bad about what Naru-sempai said.”

“That was an accident!” the auburn haired girl protested. “How was I supposed to know about his family life?”

“Never mind that now, if Keitaro’s still the same person I know, he won’t hold a grudge. And before you ask, I don’t know how long he’ll be staying here,” Haruka added quickly.

As the room was being prepared, the absent residents arrived from their little excursion. Kitsune was in a good mood – her tips at the track had paid off enough for her to cover the month’s rent and get some quality booze without having to dip into her latest paycheque.

Kaolla was happy in that she’d managed to get some new blades for her new blender and that meant banana milkshakes!

The pair announced their return, but received no response. They just shrugged it off and went their separate ways, each having their own method of relaxing after a day out.

Grabbing a large blue towel and her special hot springs sake set, Kitsune left for her preferred method of relaxation.

Seconds after she left to enter the changing area, Motoko, Haruka, Naru and Shinobu exited the adjacent room.

“Do you have any idea when Kitsune and Su will be back?” the kendoist asked. “I wouldn’t want them to miss dinner.”

“I think they’re supposed to be back any moment now,” Shinobu answered. “I’ll make a start on dinner.”

Seconds later, there was a scream.

@@@@@

Keitaro let loose an unholy scream as he saw the nearly naked woman enter the water.

“Hey, kid, who d’you think you are? I’m the one who gets to yell here!” Kitsune shouted angrily.

“…Sorry,” the vision impaired youth mumbled.

“You sound familiar… Keitaro, Is that you?” the ash-blonde asked as she approached her childhood friend.

“K-kitsu-neechan?”

Kitsune smiled as she remembered that Keitaro was the only person to call her that. “So it is you, Kei-kun. So where have you been?”

“Away, sorry for yelling like that,” Keitaro apologised, his gaze still directed at the water. He finally looked up to see that his old friend had closed the distance and was smiling at him. “Gah, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to look at your jubblies!”

“What? Oh, these?” the voluptuous young woman smiled as she tugged suggestively at the towel that provided her with a modicum of modesty. “You like? I sure grew up, didn’t I? Let’s take a look at you, Kei-kun.”

The young Urashima blushed as he was held at arms’ length and inspected by his old friend. He was forced to look away as the towel finally gave up trying to contain Kitsune’s bountiful chest.

And that was when the others arrived.

“What’s going on here?” Haruka demanded. “Kitsune, what you trying to do to Keitaro-kun?”

“I wasn’t trying anything, Haruka, honest! My towel just slipped while I was seeing how much Kei-kun had grown up,” Kitsune insisted. Then she realised just how bad that sounded. “I mean, it’s been so long since we last saw each other.”

“Y-y-yeah,” Keitaro added. “Kitsu-neechan has really grown since I last saw her.”

“I’ll bet,” the elder Urashima deadpanned.

“‘Kitsu-neechan’?” Naru repeated in shock. “I knew you were getting kind of lonely, but to start walking in on a kid?”

“Hey! It’s not like that!” the ash-blonde insisted. “Keitaro and I go way back, isn’t that right, Haruka?”

“Yes, that’s true,” Haruka nodded. “But if you’ve finished molesting the poor lad, I’ll explain what’s going on.”

@@@@@

Motoko cast a cautious glance in Kitsune’s direction. She thought she knew the freelance writer pretty well, but her actions in the hot springs cast her whole character in doubt.

“I’m sorry to bother you,” Keitaro said, speaking up for the first time during the meeting. “I thought that I had a bit longer to use the bath, since I just got in after Haruka-neesan said that I could use it.”

The blushing youth turned to the ash-blonde. “I’m sorry, Kitsu-neechan, I didn’t mean to look at your jubblies.”

Kaolla looked up from her latest project, a small mechanical turtle with concealed missiles inside its shell. “Jubblies? What are they? Are they tasty?”

“…I’ve got this one,” Haruka said. She leant in whisper something to the hyperactive blonde.

“Oh, you mean boobies! Yeah, I think that Kitsune’s boobies would be pretty tasty compared to mine or even Naru’s. They certainly look big and juicy,” Kaolla nodded in understanding. “So you’re Kitsune’s friend from a long time ago, huh? Well, can we be friends, too?”

“S-sure,” Keitaro nodded. ‘Haruka-san was right, they are nice people.’

“Right then, Keitaro-kun, you’re moving into the room next to Motoko’s,” Shinobu explained. “We talked earlier and Kitsune, Naru and I will cover the teashop while Haruka-san visits your house to get you some of your clothes.”

“I still can’t believe it takes three of you to cover my shift,” the smoker said, shaking her head in dismay. “But it’s been a long day, and I still have to finish cleaning up the teashop, so I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Keitaro yawned as he waved good night to his aunt. “Sorry, I guess that I’m more tired than I thought.”

“It’s ok, Kei-kun,” Kitsune smiled. “Do you need me to show you where your room is?”

“No, it’s ok, Kitsu-neechan,” the youth smiled back.

When he had left the room, Motoko turned to Kitsune. “So then, how do you know Keitaro-kun?”

“We were friends when we were younger,” the ash-blonde replied. “We haven’t seen each other for ages.”

“Oh, that’s a relief,” the swordswoman sighed. “I was worried that your tastes were of the…younger.”

“WHAT? How can you say that? How long have you known me, Motoko? Have I ever done anything to make you think that I’m a pervert?”

“No, but it’s not every day that you show such an interest in a young man,” Naru added with plenty of emphasis on the “young” part. “What else are we supposed to think?”

“I can’t believe you lot! This is the first time I’ve seen Keitaro for… SEVEN years, what makes you think that I’m interested in young boys?” Kitsune huffed as she stood up and stormed off to her room.

Motoko looked down at the floor, feeling ashamed that she’d accused her of such unsavoury activities.

Naru was feeling a little curious – she’d been absently wondering what it was that Kitsune had seen when she walked in on Keitaro. She’d also deflected some potential flak because of her preferences. ‘I’m sorry, Kitsune-chan, but no-one can know about my shota complex.’

@@@@@

In her room, Mitsune Konno was not happy. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Keitaro, he’d cheered her up when Seta, the first man she fell in love with, disappeared for the first time.

It took a year or so, but she realised that it was just a hormonal crush on an older, sophisticated man. And she was glad that she hadn’t gathered the nerve to do anything more to try to get his attention. The ash-blonde winced when she remembered what she was going to do to get the archaeologist’s attention.

“Yeah, I guess that it’s a good thing that Seta vanished when he did. God, I need a drink.”

Soon the writer’s stash of sake was being raided and her problems were being slowly washed away by medium quality rice wine.

“Yeah, that’s the ticket,” Kitsune smiled. “Too bad I ain’t got anyone to share it with.”

@@@@@

Keitaro was roused from her slumber by the sounds of someone knocking on his door. Sleepily throwing off his covers, he shambled to the door.

“H-hello?”

“Keitaro-kun,” the female voice started hesitantly.

“Y-yes? What is it, I’m very tired at the moment,” the vision-impaired youth stated around a yawn.

“Yes, I’m sorry about this, but I wanted to tell you that I-”

“Naru? Is that you? What are you doing here?” a slightly inebriated Kitsune asked. She looked at her male friend and noticed that he slept in a t-shirt and boxer shorts. “Oh, hi, Kei-kun”

“Hi, Kitsu-neechan. What can I do for you and Naru-san? And can it wait until morning?” Keitaro asked with yet another yawn. “I’m tired and I can’t see properly.”

“Yeah, what did you want to talk to Kei-kun about, Naru?” the ash-blonde asked with a teasing tone. “Unless you’re trying to seduce my friend…”

“I’m not trying to seduce Keitaro-kun!” Naru shouted a bit too loudly.

“Then why are you here, interrupting a young man’s sleep, Naru-sempai?” Motoko demanded from the doorway to her room. “Please, state your business and allow those of us who need to get up early to get some sleep.”

“…It’s not important,” the Toudai aspirant replied, her cheeks flushed with blood. “I just had a stray thought and I wanted to ask you something, but it CAN wait until morning, so I’ll see you all then. Well, most of you.”

“Meh,” Kitsune easily shrugged the barb off. “See you tomorrow, Naru. So, Kei-kun, when did you start wearing boxer shorts?”

Keitaro’s face turned fire engine red. “…just last month. When I turned twelve.”

“I see, well, I think you look good in shorts,” the ash-blonde winked saucily. She turned to face the unimpressed swordswoman. “What do you think, Motoko? Does Kei-kun look good in shorts or do you prefer your men in briefs?”

“That’s scandalous, Kitsune! How can you say something so inappropriate?” Motoko demanded angrily. “And I thought that men were perverted when they got drunk.”

“You’ve not been drinking, have you, Kitsu-neechan?” Keitaro asked with a concerned look on his face. “They’ve been telling us in school it does to your body.”

“Yeah, well, it’s my body, Kei-kun and I’ll do what I want with it!” Kitsune replied petulantly.

The partially dressed youth sighed. “That’s not what I meant, Kitsu-neechan. I’m just worried about you. I did promise to do whatever I could to make you happy, didn’t I? And you didn’t exactly look happy earlier.”

“That’s because there was a man in the ladies’ bath,” Motoko added helpfully. “Now, can we finish this in the morning? I want to get some training done at first light.”

“Sorry, Motoko-san. It’s just that, well, I don’t have many friends and I don’t like seeing them unhappy,” Urashima replied.

The Hinata Sou’s newest resident’s aims made the Shinmeiryu practitioner smile. “Well, I can’t fault your intentions, Keitaro-kun. They’re most honourable, however, I get the feeling that you would like to get some sleep. We’ll continue this in the morning.”

@@@@@

Keitaro yawned as her entered the dining room. “Good morning,” he greeted his new friends.

“Good morning, Keitaro-kun,” Shinobu replied with a smile. “Did you sleep well?”

“I did, thank you,” the boy smiled. Though internally, he was a little worried. ‘When I was washing, I had that feeling that someone was watching me. But who’d want to look at me when I’m half-naked?’

“Take a seat, the others should be here shortly,” the chef said, her pleasant smile not leaving her face.

Seconds later, a figure appeared at the doorway. “Good morning, Keitaro-kun,” Motoko greeted. She was followed into the dining room by Kaolla, who gave a big cheery wave and Naru, who was more like the raven haired girl with her demeanour.

“Good morning, Keitaro-kun,” the girl with the braided hair greeted. ‘He does have a cute body. I bet that I’ll be able to get some good trades if I can set up that hidden camera.’

“So then, what are you going to do today, Keitaro-kun?” Motoko asked as she passed her bowl for some rice.

“I don’t know. I suppose that I could help out Kitsu-neechan and the others at the teashop, but I don’t know what jobs I can do,” Keitaro replied.

“I think that would be nice,” a tired, voice said hoarsely. “Mornin’, Kei-kun.”

“Morning, Kitsu-neechan,” the young Urashima smiled. “Are you ok? You look a little... off.”

“I’ll be fine once I get some of Shinobu-chan’s cooking in me,” the ash-blonde smiled. “So you’re planning to help us out at the Teahouse, Kei-kun?”

“I was,” Keitaro nodded. “But I don’t know what I can do at Aunt Haruka’s teashop. I’m a bit clumsy.”

Kitsune took her seat as she pondered her friend’s words. ‘Hey, if he’s helping out, that means that there’ll be less for me to do…’ “Yeah, well, why don’t you keep us company, Kei-kun? We can catch up.”

“It’ll be nice,” Naru agreed. ‘Too bad I can’t get him to go Naked-apron. Stupid rules against having lithe young men dressed in not much!’

“Is something up, Naru-chan?” Shinobu asked when she saw her friend’s face darken.

“I’m fine, Shinobu-chan. It’s nothing, honestly.”

@@@@@

It was a slow morning at the Hinata Teahouse, something that the covering girls were grateful for.

“Damn, is it only 11.45?” Kitsune asked with a sigh. “I stopped drinking at a sensible time to help out on a day this slow.”

“I don’t know, Kitsu-neechan, I like the quiet. It makes a nice change from the hustle and bustle of back home,” Keitaro replied.

Naru felt a pang of jealousy at the way that the young man was so close to her friend. “Keitaro-kun, could you wipe up that that spill over by table three?”

“What spill? Oh, that one,” he said with an embarrassed look on his face as he spotted the rather large puddle of tea on the floor.

The redhead smiled as she handed the object of her immoral desire a cloth. It took a considerable amount of willpower not to run over to where Keitaro was bending over and squeezing and caressing his taught buttocks until her hands started to go numb.

“Are you ok, Naru-chan? You’re looking a little flushed,” the Hinata Sou’s resident drunkard asked with concern in her voice.

“Yeah, sorry, Kitsune, I was just thinking about other things. So,” the Toudai aspirant said as she faced her friend, “how long have you known Keitaro-kun?”

“A couple of years. I met him when our families were staying here. I think he’s grandmother owns the Inn. He was a sweet kid back then,” Kitsune explained with a wistful smile. “He saw that I was feeling a bit down and asked if he could do anything to help cheer me up. That’s when he promised that he’d do anything to make me happy.”

‘Aww, that’s so cute. If only he’d make that promise to me…’ Naru thought naughtily. ‘Hey, I wonder if I can trick him into helping me out with my art class…’

The Toudai bound girl drifted off into a fantasy where she was sketching a provocatively posing Keitaro with some of her internet friends.

“Let me check the lead your pencil…” she murmured dreamily before snapping out of her reverie.

Kitsune cast a questioning glance over her friend. “Are you sure that you’re ok, Naru? You seem to be a bit distracted.”

“It’s nothing,” Naru insisted. “It’s just that I’ve never really lived with men. Well, you know, aside from my dad.”

The ash-blonde laughed pleasantly. “It’s not like Kei-kun is going to sneak into your room and start molesting you, Naru.”

“I know that, Kitsune,” the redhead rolled her eyes. She caught another glimpse of Keitaro’s posterior. ‘Though I wouldn’t mind him acting all perverted if I got to spank him for being a naughty boy…’

Keitaro shuddered as he felt that someone somewhere was making all sorts of sordid plans.

“Hi everybody,” Haruka called out as she entered her teashop. “How’s it been then?”

“Well, aside from the breakfast rush, it’s been pretty quiet,” Kitsune replied, though she still yawned and stretched as if she was the one that had done all the hard work.

Keitaro finished up his task and after washing his hands sat down next to his aunt for an update from his parents.

“Ah yes,” the senior Urashima said before lighting up a cigarette. “Your parents are ok with you staying here, but your mother wants you to visit them every once in a while. Oh, and before I forget, I’ve brought you a bag with some of your laundry in.”

“Thanks, Au-, Haruka-san,” the bespectacled youth smiled in gratitude.

“Aww, I was looking forward to spending his money,” the ash-blonde sighed theatrically. When everyone looked at her, Kitsune quickly added, “On new clothes for him, I mean. It wasn’t like I was going to con him out of his allowance to spend down the racetrack.”

“No, you just want to play dress-up with a boy,” Naru said as she cast a sceptical glance at her friend. ‘Not that I’d turn down the chance to put him in lederhosen and parade him around the inn…’

“Hey, why can’t you understand that Keitaro and I are just friends?” the freelance writer huffed.

“Well, who was it that gave him _that_ apron to wear?” Haruka asked as she tapped out her cigarette.

The apron in question was pale blue and had a picture of a kitten on the front with a speech bubble containing the words “Is it can be hugs tiem now pleese?” deliberately misspelled. Haruka only kept it as it was a gift from her mother that she received on her tenth birthday.

“It was the only clean one,” Naru replied.

“Oh,” the smoker replied. ‘That one’s kept separate from the others and I know for a fact that there are other clean aprons. What are these girls up to?’

“Anyway,” Haruka smiled, “I’m hungry, who’s cooking what for lunch?”

As the less than stellar chefs prepared to face off with a game of Jankenpon, Keitaro spoke up. “I’ll make something, Haruka-san. What would you like?”

“I’ll have the chicken salad, Keitaro-kun.”

@@@@@

Later that afternoon, Naru logged on to one of the internet’s many forums and posted an update on the latest development of her life.

As she posted a reply to the “Scouting for Boys” thread on the Shota Sundae message board, she noticed that some of her other online friends were also browsing the board.

“Ah, Nekonee-san and Queenofbeers are online now. I wonder what they’ll have to say when I tell them about Keitaro-kun living here with me?” the Toudai bound girl mused with a smile.

There was a rather rapid, yet terse response to her comment about Keitaro in a really cute apron.

“‘Pics or it didn’t happen’? What? It’s not like I don’t share my scans of anthologies with you lot! Fine, let me upload from my phone,” the auburn haired girl huffed. “Let’s see what we can see.”

Three minutes later, Naru was completing the last upload of her covertly taken pictures. “There,” she smirked, “let’s see how you like that.”

“Nekonee-san” was the first to reply.

Nekonee-san> He’s pretty cute. Where did you find that apron, because I think that it certainly could be hugs tiem very soon!

“Queenofbeers” was hot on the heels of Nekonee-san, so much so that Naru thought that they may have been friends in real life.

Queenofbeers> I want that apron! I can just imagine MLP in just that

Two minutes later, Mahora-hime signed in and commented on the shot of the Keitaro bended over to clean up a spill.

Mahora-hime> Do want very much big time! Where did you find him? Can I have more pictures of him?

Nekonee-san> Pft, not until you supply us with pictures of this famous “Precious Onion” of yours.

Queenofbeers> Yeah, Mahora! You owe us for the pics of My Little Pilot that I gave you last week!

Mahora-hime> Pft, your “little pilot” is too old for my tastes. I could see his pubic hair – you call that “shota”!?!

Naru waded in to defuse the situation.

ShoToudai19> Ladies, please. I’m sure that Mahora-hime will share in good time. But until I get to see what the Precious Onion looks like in his shorts, there’ll be no more shots of Teh Promise Boi.

Queenofbeers> Injustice! You hear that, Mahora? Your stinginess is costing us Teh Promise Boi!

Nekonee-san followed up her friend’s comments.

Nekonee-san> You know, I think that I might just have to hold off on releasing the instructions for that Plug Suit I designed.

ShoToudai19> That tight vinyl pilot suit thing? I need that! I mean, yeah, naked apron is nice and all, but to have that option would be perfect. Think of all the role-playing fun that you could have. The Grateful Damsel; the Stern Superior Officer; the Naughty Nurse aiding his recovery. Damn, I’m drooling on the keyboard here.

Mahora-hime> Well, I suppose that I could try something, but I have to be careful – if any of the photos can identify him, he’ll get into lots of trouble and I won’t be able to see him. Will it be ok if I mask his identity?

Nekonee-san> I understand

Queenofbeers> Ok, I suppose that it’ll have to do

ShoToudai19> I know what you mean, Mahora-hime, we need to be careful. We’ve all heard the horror stories about the police in other countries, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Nekonee-san> Remember: It’s all fun and games until they cart you off in the Party Van!

Queenofbeers> LOL!

There was a knock on Naru’s door.

ShoToudai19> I’ve GTG, catch you all later.

After switching her web browser to a more innocent site, Naru turned to the face the door.

“Come in.”

“Naru-sempai, I’ve been told to tell you that dinner is going to be ready in about 35 minutes,” Motoko explained.

“Ok, I’ll take a quick dip in the springs first,” the scholarly girl smiled innocently.

As the residents sat down for their meal, Keitaro decided to catch up with his old friend.

“So then, Kitsu-neechan, what are you doing these days?”

“Well, I’m a writer,” the ash-blonde smiled.

“Do you write books? Because that would be really cool,” the youth enthused.

“I write articles for magazines,” Kitsune replied. “Nothing much, but hey, I suppose it pays the bills. What about you Kei-kun? What are you planning to do when you grow up?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t really given it much thought,” Keitaro replied.

“What sort of thing are you good at, Keitaro-kun?” Shinobu asked as she handed a bowl of rice to Kaolla. “Perhaps if we can find something that you’re good at and you enjoy doing, we could help you find out what you need to do?”

“You’d help me with that?”

“Of course we would,” Kitsune insisted. “We’re all friends here.”

She leaned in conspiratorially. “Besides, you don’t want to know what Haruka would do to us if we didn’t.”

Keitaro giggled, causing Naru to wonder how ticklish he was.

‘Hmm, perhaps I should wait until he’s a little bit down and try tickling him to cheer him up? Yes, that way I can get him used to me touching him without alarm bells ringing in his head…’

“Is something wrong, Naru-sempai?” Motoko asked when she noticed that her friend seemed to drift off.

“It’s nothing, I’ve just got a test coming up soon and I’m a little bit worried about it. I’m not so good at English pronunciation,” the studious girl explained.

“Well you are one of the best students in the country, Naru-chan, so I’m sure that you’ll do really well,” Shinobu smiled.

“It’s hard work though; I barely have any time for my hobbies.”

“What are your hobbies, Naru-san?” asked Keitaro.

This innocent question put Naru on the spot and she had to think fast in order to save face and deflect attention. “I like to sketch. Or rather, I try to. I’m not very good.”

“That’s nice,” the twelve year old smiled. “What sort of thing do you like to sketch?”

“All sorts of things,” Naru answered vaguely.

Not knowing what else say, Keitaro shrugged and turned back to Kitsune. “So what sort of thing do you write about, Kitsu-neechan?”

“I write about life in general. What it’s like to be a single woman in modern Japan,” the ash-blonde replied. “Though, as the readership has been down a little recently, I’m thinking of branching out to new fields. No idea what at the moment, but hey, I’m sure that something will come to me.”

“I’m sure that it will, Kitsu-nee-chan,” the young man smiled.

That evening, Naru was using her computer to browse the internet.

“I’m bored… Hey, I wonder if there’s anything new on the forum?” she asked herself as she tapped her fingers on her desk.

As she logged on to the Shota Sundae forums, the Toudai bound girl checked out the thread labelled “Precious Onion”.

As the auburn haired girl scrolled down the page, more and more images were revealed to her, each more intriguing than the last.

“Oh my…”

Naru felt certain urges stirring inside her loins as she saw what was a boy that was clearly too young to be in the variety of easily misunderstood situations he was in.

“He’s a little young for my tastes, but he certainly is cute,” she murmured when she could see that the censorship was doing little to obscure the boy’s looks much.

In the last of the posted images, the oddly named “Precious Onion” was thrust into what looked like a busty kunoichi, Naru’s right hand slipped from her desk to her lap.

“Naru-san,” a female voice called out.

“Shit!”

Quickly closing the web browser, Naru coughed to compose herself. “What is it, Shinobu-san?”

“I’m sorry to bother you, but it’s time to collect the rent,” the landlady explained, somewhat embarrassed that she had to demand money from her friends.

“What? Already?” the auburn haired girl asked as she glanced at her calendar. “So it is, sorry about that, just let me get my purse.”

Unlocking her door, Naru smiled as she counting out her month’s rent in front of Shinobu. “There you go.”

“Thank you, Naru-san,” Shinobu smiled as she signed the rent book. “Are there any problems with anything? Nothing needs to be fixed does it?”

“No, but there was something that I wanted to ask you, Shinobu-san,” the Toudai bound girl said as she looked around furtively.

“What’s that?”

“Well, I know that you’re not that comfortable around men, so I wanted to know if you’re really ok with Keitaro staying here?” Naru asked, hoping that the nice young man wouldn’t have to leave any time soon.

“To be honest,” the blue haired girl sighed, “I wouldn’t let him stay here if he wasn’t Haruka-san’s family.”

“But he’s so young,” the auburn haired girl replied. “I don’t think that he’s likely to hurt anyone.”

“I’m not so sure; there was one boy at my school that was insanely wealthy and he was perverted enough to make a couple of girls in his class his maids. Yeah, he was a bit older than Keitaro-kun is now, but still…”

“Do you really think that Motoko would let anything like that happen?” Naru asked, cocking her head to one side.

Shinobu blinked. “You’re right; she wouldn’t let anyone hurt any of us. I don’t know why that slipped my mind.”

“I guess that we’re just a little out of sorts with Keitaro-kun’s arrival.”

Keitaro wasn’t quite sure what to make of Kaolla Su. While there was no denying that she was cute, there was something slightly unnerving about the way she looked at the world and its contents.

It was as if everything as a puzzle to be solved.

“Hey, Keitaro,” the blonde said as she looked up from arranging her toolbox.

“Yes, Kaolla-san?”

“What school do you go to?”

“I… haven’t been to school for a while,” Keitaro admitted. “I was being picked on by some of the kids at my old school…”

“Bullies?” the tanned girl growled. “I don’t like bullies!”

“It’s ok. I mean, I understand why they don’t like me.”

Kaolla wasn’t convinced, but didn’t push the matter. Instead, the mechanical genius decided that she should show her new friend her latest toy.

“Here, what do you think to this?”

Keitaro blinked as a large metallic box was thrust into his face. “What’s this?”

“It’s a net gun! It’s for capturing things like animals and people, but you can use it for getting things like boxes and crates. Follow me, I’ll show you!” the blonde said as she ran out of her room.

Shrugging, Keitaro turned to follow the girl on her madcap adventure.

As the two youngest residents reached the courtyard where Motoko was practicing, Kaolla’s face acquired a devious grin.

“Heya, Motoko!”

The kendoist turned, but before she could greet them with a smile, there was a loud pop and she found herself knocked to the ground and all tangled up in a sticky net.

“What the devil is this?”

“It’s my new toy, Motoko,” the princess beamed proudly. “It’s for capturing things. Look, you can even reel things in.”

“Argh! Stop that, Su!” Motoko demanded as she was dragged towards the children of the inn.

“Su-chan, you should let her go!” Keitaro insisted, not wanting to upset someone with the potential to break every bone in his body.

“But I wanted to show you all what it could do,” Kaolla pouted. “Fine, I’ll let her go.”

The genius’s tanned fingers danced across the control panel. Unfortunately, they moved a little too quickly for the device and it shorted out.

Kaolla laughed nervously. “Whoops…”

“Wha?” Keitaro confused query was cut off by the sound of a restrained human body landing into a pond.

Not knowing what else to do, the bespectacled youth rushed to help Motoko out of the water. It was then that the pair of them noticed that the netting was dissolving in the water.

“Thank you, Keitaro-kun,” the kendoist bowed in thanks. It was a deep bow, one that regrettably caused her soaking wet gi top to come open and reveal how her breast-bindings were hugging every possible outline. “Aah!”

Keitaro panicked at the scream and looked away. “I didn’t mean to stare at you like that, honest!”

“I-it’s not your fault, Keitaro-kun,” Motoko replied, trying to keep her displeasure under control. “Now, if you’ll excuse me.”

“O-of course, Motoko-san.”

Inside the building, Kitsune noticed the way Motoko was walking to her room.

“What happened, Motoko-chan?”

“Don’t ask,” the raven-haired girl replied tersely.

“Oh-kay,” the voluptuous girl replied. Shrugging it off, she turned to see Kaolla and Keitaro looking over some sort of device and put two and two together.

“Hi you two, I take it that you know why Motoko is soaked to the skin?”

“Y-yeah,” Keitaro replied, obviously scared of something.

‘Probably scared that we’re going to kick him out or something,’ Kitsune mused. “If it was a genuine accident, then you shouldn’t worry about it, Keitaro. Now, why don’t we put the homemade weapons away for the day and get something to eat?”

“Yeah, it’s time for some bananas!” the princess declared before running off to her room to retrieve the fruit in question.

As the Hinata Sou residents sat down for some refreshments, Shinobu considered the newest arrival.

‘I guess that he seems like a decent person, but for some reason, I’m not comfortable around him,’ the blue haired girl thought with a sigh.

“Is something wrong, Shinobu-san?”

“Err, no, Keitaro-kun, I was just thinking,” Shinobu smiled. “So, what are you going to do about school?”

“I don’t know,” Keitaro replied honestly.

“He should go to school with me!” Kaolla chimed in after swallowing a mouthful of banana.

“I suppose that it would make sense,” Naru said, mulling it over. “I mean, if two people are going to the same school, it would be better if they travelled together.”

“Yes, I think they would be safer,” Motoko nodded.

Little did the residents know that Naru thought it was good idea to attend Kaolla’s school was because of the uniforms.

‘He’ll look so cute like that outfit, and well, there’s a chance I’ll have to help him tie his tie,’ the Toudai aspirant thought naughtily.

@@@@@

Motoko Aoyama pondered the new situation at the Hinata Sou. While he was always ready to help Haruka out, there was something unsettling about Keitaro’s presence at the Inn.

She knew that the incident with Kaolla’s net launcher was an accident; the way the blonde had nodded when Keitaro had stammered his profuse apologies was proof of that.

And he had always made sure to announce whenever he went into the bath was something that all the residents appreciated.

But there was something that had changed with his arrival. And the kendoist seemed unable to put her finger on it.

“I’m sure that the answer will come to me later,” Motoko sighed, feeling slightly frustrated with her inability to make sense of the situation.

Ah, the role-reversals are fun as usual. Although, at times, it felt like more details would have fleshed things out a bit better.

Nice bunch of references thrown in there. I counted Evangelion, Negima!, and He Is My Master. Couldn't spy out who "Nekonee-san" was; I'm sure I'll be smacking my forehead when I figure it out.

The chat portion was surprisingly accurate. I've seen 2ch threads that look like that now and again.

I found myself thinking of two interesting points:
1) This story actually plays up the "young boy amidst grown women" angle more than Negima! does. Keitarou comes off as younger, mentally-speaking, than Negi did, and the Hinata girls are definitely older than the Mahora girls.

2) All of the Hinata-sou residents have family issues. Haruka's parents are dead, Keitarou's are divorcing, Shinobu likewise (assuming that much similarity to canon), Motoko has problems re: her sister, Naru's part of a blended family, and Suu... weird shit in her family. I think Hinata might end up as a very strange sort of support group, in some ways.

Ah. My mistake for going on the assumption that all of the chatters were from different series.

It's entirely possible that more online characters will appear later on in this one.

I just need to work out who would be suitable and what the handle would be.

Or I could introduce and FBI agent into the mix :p

What?

Pedobear doesn't like boys, Newfag.
True, but he's not against older women getting it on with younger boys. Boys may not be his thing, but he'd certainly cheer them on. :D

He probably doesnt know the 4chan fetish!zoo properly Raa, still something he shoulda researched before commenting on a Raa thread. :snigger:

Aaaanywho, great to see more of your MDC injustice comming up for us TFF'ers to peruse and comment on Raa.

Each of the girls has an interesting take on them, considering this incarnation of the Hina Girls and who's who.

Shinobu feels a bit more like canon!Kei, but not the complete klutz we all know and love. Possible insecurities from her growing up with complete spazzy pervs (nice kudos to He is my Noble master)

Kitsune gives out the osana-najimi vibe we sometimes get from Mutsumi, but she's still our favorite vixen. There is a lot to work with her, considering her past with Kei-kun, at least given time and chance, an adult Kei would have a solid chance with a mature Mitsune.

Motoko, I love what you've done with her. While she has her 'man-issues', Kei-kun is dispelling a lot of them; heck she might turn into a proper shotacon given the right circumstances... or she'll at least wait until he's fair game XD

Naru... can't help but expect epic lulz and some drama from her. Love the 4chan'esque online/forum persona and her subterfuge in hiding her Shota tendencies. There seems to be more than that to her; but I'll wait to see what you have planned.

Suu: seems like canon!Suu, but something gives me the vibe that there is also more to her than her wacky mecha loving-turtle chasing-food inquiring-idontwannaberoyalty persona than meets the eye.

Keep up the great work Raa!
Hope to read more soon!

They are all from different series.

QueenofBeers is Misato.
Mahora is Chizuru-san from Negima!. I suppose it could be Konoka, or else Inchou-san (I don't remember her name).
Not sure about Nekonee-san.

I have been a member for over five years, lurking and leeching, but never posting. Today, I break my silence. Normally, I am too shy to share my thoughts here. However, when I read this story, I knew it was so good that I must speak out. This story is godly, please write more!

Far be it from me to tell the great Lord Raa what to write, but I do hope you write more of the others catching Naru in her perverted antics. It turns the tables in three ways. One, Naru is perving out on Keitaro. Two, with Naru, it isn't actually an accident. And three, the other girls, Motoko especially, are likely to believe the weakling preverted female when she protests that it was all just an accident.

Any chance we might see an openly shotacon Tsuruko down the road?
And maybe a Kanako who has feelings for her much younger brother?

I am looking forward to reading more!
