My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Idea Megathread

Idea:

Long ago, there were two lovers, rulers of their land.

The king was kind and compassionate, always thinking of his subjects, always working for the betterment of his kingdom and it's peaceful existence. The queen was kind and loving, her smile brightening the kingdom and her beautiful, heartfelt voice lifting the spirits of her subjects as they felt her love in every note.

Until Discord arrived...

Soon, the king became heartless and cruel, greed dominating his every thought, ruling his kingdom with an iron hoof, the only one with any chance of saving him, his beloved queen, was lost as well, gone from a loving queen to an unfeeling ruler, no longer able to bring happiness to others and only able to live by taking it from them...

I like the idea of Discord being responsible for the creation of Celly and Luna. Years ago, he quarrelled with the Faust, and his rage was so great that he tore her in two. The first fragment of her he cast into the sun to burn forever, the other he entombed in the moon to rot in cold darkness.

Millennia later, two young alicorn fillies would awaken in the Everfree.

Huh....now I have this image of the Hero Pony from Persona 4 Golden arriving in Ponyville....and his Alicorn Girlfriend Marie take issue with Twilight being so friendly with him.

Cadence: "Get away from him you BITCH!"

There has GOT to be a way to bring this scene to life in Fanfiction.

Hmmm....Twilight andher brother taking the role of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. Let's see....her mother left her home reality after she thought her husbad had died in a war, taking the foals with her. She remarried and has been living in this version of Ponyville (one not at war with the other races) ever since. Twilight was too young to recall her father so Mommy decided never to mention him as the pain was too great.

Dad shows up, having breeched the dimensional barriers and he is NOT happy.

Idea: Celestia doesn't know it, but Spike is only half dragon. Nobody, even Spike, really knows, until he unknowingly meets his mother, but as much as she wants to, she can't tell him, yet...

For you see, Spike is a prince, and the son of-

Chrysalis!

I meant it more in a conflict for Chrysalis. With Changelings able to shape-shift, it would be easy to assume they could interbreed with most other species.

Upon finding Spike, something in her recognizes him as her son, and she is forced to chose between doing what she feels is best for her kind, which will probably leave her son hating her, or risk her entire plan to be with her son.

I'm...not sure I've seen any. I've seen some where it's kinda implied, but where it could also be Celestia is imprisoned, some where she's killed by someone else, but I don't know about killed off right away

New idea...

"-And we'll ahve the best Night Ev-"

"Spike, Darling!"

Twilight groaned as her friend tripped over each other at the sudden interruption to their completely spontaneous and in no way choreographed musical number.

Spike himself went ramrod straight, and developed a twitch in his eye, "No, not her, please not-"

"Spike, my beloved," a well dressed unicorn trotted towards the group, scooping the dragon up in her forelegs and hugging him close, "I've missed you ever so much since that horrid, hideous student of Auntie's spirited you away to that yokel town."

"*He-hem*" Twilight cleared her throat loudly, before grinding out a less than friendly, "Hello, Princess BlueBelle."

"Oh, you're right here, aren't you?" the princess noted in genuine, if lackluster, surprise, "Well, I stand by what I said, you fiance stealing hussy."

"FIANCE!?" The girls shouted in surprise, yes, even Fluttershy.

Spike only sighed, because the night had only just started, and it was a horrible start.
A Spike SHipping idea based around a Gender-Bent BlueBlood. Basic idea is that Spike and BlueBelle knew each other from a very young age, and made one of those child-hood "Let's get married when we get older' promises.

A promise she held onto like an elevator door in the Atlantic ocean.

So when she grows into this...

Or this...

The only suitor she'll accept is the dear little dragon, and she doesn't take "No" for an answer.

From what whitewhiskey said, it sounds more like it's an origin of Chrysalis and Sombra, not Celestia and Luna. And I like that idea. Not sure how it would work, though. Maybe while Love-based magic is able to destroy and repel (sadly love is capable of that) the Elements of Harmony, if used, would have turned Chrysalis, the Changelings and Sombra into their original selves. And the Changelings would turn out to have formerly been Crystal Ponies. Too bad the Elements weren't used either of those times.

I remember a Spike-centric fic that had Chrysalis killing off Celestia. Like canon, Chrysalis started overpowering Celestia. Unlike canon, when Celestia saw Spike being attacked by Changelings, she went Mama Bear and used some Heroic Resolve to nearly beat Chrysalis. Unfortunately, Chrysalis was Dangerously Genre Savvy and shot a killing bolt of magic at Spike, who Celestia took the metaphorical bullet for, and died.

So, kind of like Princess Ruto, then.

Idea Summary: Princesses Celestia, Cadance and Luna try to get more acquainted with Princess Twilight's circle of friends, organizing a day's excursion to get to know one another better. Trouble brews when the two cliques start finding more differences than common ground! Between shipping wars that Rainbow Dash and Luna wage over Daring Do's OTL, Princess Celestia's criticism of Fluttershy's longing for "rabble rouser stallions" and Cadance's baking styles going against Spike's, it's definitely going to be one for the record books!

Idea Summary (Human?): When an experiment Princess Celestia and Spike "volunteered" for goes wrong, they end up having a very HUGE tiny, adorable problem on their hooves - PARENTHOOD. As Luna learns the joys of being the Fun Aunt, Spike trying to actually be a responsible teenage dad and Celestia's nervous breakdowns every time she goes ... Twilight is faced with the decision on whether reversing the spell is as easy as her logic centre dictates.

First, watch this...

A story that focuses on the Princesses in their youth, when Discord sowed Chaos across the land, when Sombra was mearly one of many tyrant monarchs rulin pony kind with an iron hoof, and when a Alicorn mother, after losing a husband to the chaos of the world, bore a second daughter the first such occurrence ever to happen in the recorded history of the Alicorn, an occurrence that stumped even Star Swirl. The birth of a second child heralds a change across the land, change many rulers would see throttled in it's crib.

So begins the story of Luna and Celestia young foals forced out into a harsh world that would see them dead before they can change it for the better.

You know...there are some awkward lines but I'm actually impressed they pulled this off. A bit more tweaking of the lyrics and I think it'd work.

Besides...part of me always liked the idea that Discord had an interest in Celestia...even if it's one of those 'I love you, because I can't control you' deals.

From this one....I envision the final nights of Luna's rule, when her crimes prove to Celestia that she has no choice but to bind her to the moon, but a ray of hope, a prophecy holds the despair at bay. When her sister returns, one who has spurned friendship will have a chance to return Luna to who she was.

As much fun as it'd be to write Knightmare moon making a return because of Luna's infatuation with Twilight Sparkle....or even Spike...I think I'd like this concept much better if it were Queen Chrysalis talking about Shining Armor. Think about it, she got just a taste of his love for the Princess. She sees how happy the two are, how he supports her through Sombra's attempted coupe and realizes what she really let slip through her hooves. However....she can't love him, he's dinner after all...which is the conflict, 'the sin' she feels she is committing against her people and her responsibility to them.

And yet....she can not stop thinking about him. Leaving her with two options....let him taste the fires of her rage or make him her's and her's alone.

Chrysalis: "I'll have him....I'll have him if I have to burn down ALL of Equestria!"

Yes, I know. My post was just a bit on Celly and Lulu's possible origins. It could be that Discord and the Faust were evenly matched, but Discord won via attrition.

The Elements of Harmony simply level the playing field, which is why Discord was taken off-guard both times; he simply didn't expect something so like his oldest foe to simply bludgeon him.

I was just re-watching The crystal empire and i noticed something, when talking about how Sombra was defeated Celestia never said it was her and Luna who banished him, also even if the siluettes looked like them she said she didnt know much about the Crystal Empire, that seemed kind of odd.

My Sombra backstory:

Sombra was perhaps one of the mightiest sorcerers the world had ever seen. Known more for his rule over the forbidding North rather than his sorcerous prowess, Sombra nevertheless remains one of the few magi to have bested Celestia the Sun in a duel of sorcery; a triumph he shared with, alongside few others, the one he apprenticed beneath, Grogar of Tambelon.

Despite the well-known tales surrounding the necromancer of Tambelon, Sombra himself proved to be a just, if stern, ruler. He authored The Shadowfolio and The Glittering Tome; both of which remain the premier books in the study of shadow magic and earth magic respectively. Under his reign, the Crystal Empire grew to envelop all the North till his eastern borders touched the mountains of the dragon Sapphiraktar the Blue, while his western borders touched the boundaries of Equestria itself.

No concrete evidence has ever been put forth as the reason for Sombra's madness. Rumors abound about the Crystal Heart itself; many believe Sombra had already chosen his fate, and only wanted the Heart to make himself more powerful as a wizard. But others claim it was the Heart itself that led him down the dark path, as the study and tampering of such a powerful item pushed the mage beyond his limits and destroyed his sanity.

The deterioration of the Shadowlord's mental state eventually sparked off the Crystal War, which saw whole sections of the North devastated beneath the terrifying magical battle between Sombra, Celestia and Luna, until he was finally defeated and sealed beneath the frozen wastes itself. The suffering citizens of the Empire vanished along with their greatest city (and Sombra's capital) through unknown sorcery.

Legend holds that one day Sombra and his city will return, though whether it will be Sombra the Mad or Sombra the Great who shall sit on the Crystal Throne, is yet to be seen.

In my headcannon Sombra was an intelligent and ambitious pony, a genius of the likes of Starswill, magic come easily to him and he was handsome and charismatic, but he wanted more, so he started traveling, a nobody in unicorn society who could have reached higher places with talent and personality.

Instead he started looking for power, little gems of magic hidden in all Equestria, there he found what everyone else called dark magic, ancient magic from the ages of chaos and he dominated all them, years later the ambitious young colt came again to Equestria transformed in an immortal sorcerer with powers unknow to even Celestia and Luna, but when he started his path to godhood using the crystal hearth (that was why he conquered the Crystal Kingdom) Celestia and Luna destroyed him, but his protections preserved him and separated the kingdom of the reality so no one could hide or take the Hearth Crystal from him.

Part of me want to see him like some sort of Voldemort or Doom Pony, he has nothing special to him, no great teachers or blood, or magical power that came from a star or special source just talent, smarts and ambition that blinded him until he transformed himself in a monster. He wasn'r ready to take on Celestia yet and he wasn't fool enough try it. That's why Celestia and Luna attacked him with such power and whitout giving him oportunity, they knew that he was dangerous even if not as powerfull as them

Hmmm...

Some discussions over at the Spacebattles forums based on a "Twilight is sent to Earth as a foal, becomes human, and then is sent back to Equestria as a teenager via magical mishap" idea have speculated that with a lack of truly powerful peers and rivals, Celestia has grown somnolent and lost her edge. While she certainly is powerful, the fact that she spends 99% of her day being an administrator means that she's simply not as equipped to actually engage truly powerful opponents.

With Sombra and Discord entombed in ice and stone, Luna sealed in the Moon, Grogar chilling in Tambelon and Tirek fuming in Tartarus and the loss of many of her peers in the battles against Discord, Celestia is no longer the war-chieftain she once was. She is still an alicorn, the Daystar, mightier than all but the mightiest of their races, but what really works to her favour is that her enemies have diminished as well.

Sombra is no longer the sorcerer-king he once was; instead he's a half-crazed shadow consumed with wrath and hate. Had he been the power he once was, Shining Armor and Cadance would have been crushed within a day.

Discord is content to play the trickster instead of being the force of Chaos that all but decimated Equestria a thousand years ago.

Luna no longer bears enmity towards Celestia.

What this really means is that Celestia is, well, completely out of shape. Luna may be her equal, but the Moon Princess has spent a millennium gathering strength for an assault on the Princess of the Sun, and she still has the conditioning of a seasoned, trained battlemage even after her purification.

A loss in the sparring ring at Luna's hooves may spur her to get back into shape, the pudgy old cake-chomper.

So something like this?

I took a deep breath, gathering the full potential of the Stream around my beautiful antique form like a May Day ribbon, and then focused it through my alicorn, letting it thunder up and down its length. My eyes flared, momentarily becoming windows onto the deepest heart of the blazing-hot sphere which was both my charge and my destiny. I rose into the air, phoenix-like, my coruscant aura utterly obliterating every solid object in the Rosewood Salon that was not shielded by its attachment to the soul-force of a living being. Woodwork, and then stone beneath, burst into flame, falling to curls of blackened ash and magma around our shoulders. The very walls of Canterlot buckled to its power, leaving our little mass of ponies perched unsteadily on a windswept ledge of masonry clinging to edge of the high cityward gallery.
I let out my breath in a thundering Royal Canterlot Declaration.

"HEAR ME NOW," I bellowed. "I AM CELESTIA THE UNDIMMED, PRINCESS OF THE SOLAR ORB! THE BLOOD OF THIS LAND BURNS BRIGHT IN MY VEINS AND BRAVE PONIES WEEP IN AGONY AT MY GLORY! TENS OF THOUSANDS OF GENERATIONS HAVE CRUMBLED TO DUST IN MY WAKE, AND TENS OF THOUSANDS OF GENERATIONS MORE WILL FOLLOW BEFORE I AM SPENT! ALL THIS POWER IS AT MY COMMAND, AND YET I HAVE BUT ONE THING TO DECLARE TO YOU THIS DAY!"
The sun above flared from yellow to dazzling blue-white.

"I… DO NOT LIKE… TEA."
We need more Badass Celestia stories

And with this image, Alicorns finally make sense.....

Seriously though, consider Discord a failed experiment. An attempt to engineer a being that would jumpstart Equestrian evolution and then guide the beings towards a better world.

A task in which he failed due to the way Discord choose to interpret his mission parameters.

Enter stage 2, Luna and Celestia are normal ponies chosen to uplifted and then tasked with ensuring pony evolution. A task they have succeeded at the day Twilight Sparkle takes her place as a 'Princess'. Now the real work beings

Here's an idea starting out during 'Feeling Pinkie Keen'

That flame effect of Twilight's? That wasn't an effect, she actually changed color and burst into flame, and it worried her, so she went through every test she could think of to find the cause, comparing herself to everything she could think of. And when she happens to compare her blood samples to Spike's, well...Let's just say Mrs. Sparkle has some explaining to do when Twilight finds out she's not only Half-Dragon, but Spike's older half-sister!

All right, let's say that Mrs. Sparkle was had a whirlwind romance with a dashing dragon prince and Twilight was the result. However his enemies would target her and their foal and his family would never accept her or their child so he asked his blood brother (her current husband) to take her as his bride which he was happy to do. Now, her Dragon Lover (she was one of the few people allowed to call him Gildenfire) was forced by politics to marry and produce an heir, Spike. Before the child could be named (Spike son of Vaeros) he was whisked away as Gildenfire realize his enemies were about to strike and his new wife was a plant who would rule the lands through his son once he was out of the way. A plan that falls apart without access to a male heir.

Or something like that.
