My sick and bloody muse

As I've based two ficlets on this book, I just wanted to take a moment to mention The Book of Unremitting Horror.

A d20 Modern book, this is notable for the high quality of the writing, and the disturbing artwork, some of which can be seen here. This is one of the few horror RPG books that has scared me as I read it.

The pic on the left is the Organ Grinder. This is actually the monster from my untitled Negima horror fic. The next one over is the Sisterite (the scariest monster in the book, IMO, as people like us are its targets). After that are Strap Throat and the Kooks. I'm thinking of doing a LH fic on the latter where they're responsible for Seta's grisly demise (though what they do to Sarah is far worse).

Anyway, I just wanted to share that.

Yeah, I got curious about this book when you made mention of it in your "Last Call" fic. A pity I don't really like horror (my paranoia acts up whenever I excite myself too much), as I feel it WOULD be an interesting read.

Maybe you should look to a short-lived Wizards of the Coast game named Hecatomb for inspiration. Its definetly of the same genre and imagination.

Can you tell how you got a copy of the book? I can't find it on amazon, so will I have to order from the company?

You could order it from the company, or try places like Noble Knight Games (www.nobleknight.com) which retail in new and used RPGs.

Even if you don't play d20, I recommend it for the art and writing. And if you do, this is a must-have.

For those who might still be interested, The Book of Unremitting Horror is now for sale as a pay-for-download PDF product at RPGNow and DriveThruRPG.
