I've just had a crazy idea and was wondering if anything like it had been thought of before. If not, I place the idea into the public domain for adoption.
What if Naruto learns about Might Gui and his Eternal Rivalry with Kakashi, and decides to use that as a sort of bargaining chip to get Kakashi to train him instead of Sasuke? I know it's more fanon than canon aside from the month during the chunin exams.
I'm picturing Naruto dresses up in the same green spandex outfit that Gui and Lee wear, and then shows up for a team meeting while saying something like "Greetings my Eternal Rival" to Sasuke. When questioned, he mentions the best way to defeat a sharingan is with "The Power of Youth".
Hopefully Kakashi would be horrified enough to start giving Naruto some real training.
