Evangelion New idea: Evangelion/Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne.

The premise is simple: what if Third Impact was actually the Conception? And what id Shinji is chosen to be the Demi-Fiend?

Asuka could represent Yosuga, the Kotowari of 'Might makes Right'. Rei could represent Shijima, the 'World of Silence'. Misato could replace Takao Yuko, and be the 'neutral' Reason. I have no idea who would pick the Musubi path, 'Every Man For Himself'. Maybe Touji? Kozo? Hell, to be weird - Ritsuko? Or, create new Reasons entirely?

For the record, these are the Kotowari, or 'Reasons':

* Shijima was a Kotowari based on stillness, lacking in any emotion. Influenced by Buddhism, where the world is in perfect harmony. It is a world of oneness, but is also a world without individuality. There is no 'self' whatsoever.

* Musubi was a Kotowari based on solitude and isolation, where every single person would live in his or her own little world, completely sealed from any other living being. Using one's mind, a person could shape his or her own world by will, in any possible ways, but the fact remains that the complete solitude is a dramatic feature of the Kotowari.

* Yosuga was a Kotowari based on elitism, where only the strongest of all could stand proudly and survive, while the weaker would either die, or be dominated. This would be a world of endless and senseless violence, until only the strongest would remain --- in which the strongest within the strongest would stand in the end, perhaps until only one remains the victor in the end of it all.

Heh, I like this, I'd actually thought about the similiarities of the SI to the Conception before ironically enough, though, the only problem would be the storyline. Would you just follow the game storyline, or create a whole new one, or what?

So weird that you brought up this as a crossover; I just started playing Nocturne the other day. Co-workers been going on about it for awhile now and I realized that 'Hey, I think that games somewhere in the middle of my To-Play pile.' Still not that far yet so not so sure what you're talking bout with the Reasons, but hell. I like the idea of a crossover. Shinji as the Demi-Fiend is sorta hard to picture in my head...would the Evas be/become Magatama?

You will find out as the game goes on what 'Reasons' are. You met one already: Hikawa mantains the ideal of Shijima, the 'World of Silence'.

Basically, a Reason is the way a person wants to shape the world in. Its correct name would be 'Kotowari', which is a Shinto term, IIRC.

This possible xover would be post 3I, so no more EVA, and Magatama would replace them. Hmmm...

You'll notice that there's two reviews that are very negative. My advice is to disregard that, as the 'veteran gamer' who gave it 3/10 has been playing for less than half of my gaming years (20 years my ass, I spoke to him and he's 21. So he started playing when he was 1 year old? Moron), and is clueless anyway.
