I wasn't going to even indicate in the story what it was, let the readers imagine some embarrassing horror.

What she actually told him is that she would bring up him trying to teach the mirror clone how to pick up guys to Nodoka. Little conversation later will have him point out a couple obvious questions, suspicious of why she's actually there to train rather than doing it in the future.

Hmm... well I can think of two major obvious ways to break that down. Why is she in the past (again) and why specifically there with Ranma rather then her mother, and a third which may answer itself of how these are connected.

Not that Ranma's going to get much of a straight answer out of her for anything pertaining to the future. Especially if it has to do with the curse. :snigger:

Recently suggested to me that Hotaru should want to get some training but that would have her and the other senshi at the dojo too much.

Well why can't Usagi-chibi be there simply to troll Ranma.

She can do that too. But I'm not going the funny trumps everything route, so casually messing with the timeline just to troll Ranma doesn't fit.

I was a bit leery of this fic but this C-Usa works oddly well.

Small note, I added in the prior scene that Ranma's two male friends make a suggestion that he reacts so strongly because he has the hots for Theia.

----------

Akane hummed to herself as she walked home from school next to Ranma. “Ranma and Theia, sittin in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.” She got out before a withering glare from the dark haired boy made her stop. “Admit it, it’s funny.”

“No it’s not!” He crossed his arms in a huff.

“You’re right.” She shut her mouth tightly, struggling not to snicker. “It’s hilarious.” She burst out laughing and nearly fell on her side.

“Oh, ha ha!” Ranma laughed sarcastically before pushing her forehead with an index finger. “I wonder if you’ll be laughing tomorrow?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” She didn’t see how this could stop being funny.

“Well if Theia is supposed to be my new fiance-- you didn’t blow up at me.”

“So?”

“So since you didn’t get angry, I’ll just mention how you’re really interested in sharing.”

“You wouldn’t dare.” She warned dangerously.

“I wonder if Ucchan would love to hear about your new, agreeable attitude?” He teased and bounced out of the way of her trying to punch him. “Shampoo would probably joke about how the pervert-girl really just wants girl-girl love.” He continued while sticking out his tongue.

“Ranma!” She shouted and was nearly able to clock him with her bookbag.

“Nya.” He continued to bounce around just out of her reach. “Too slow tomboy!”

“Compared to you everyone is a tomboy!” She shouted back. “You’re so girly you may as well be a princess!” Akane was going to continue chasing her annoying fiancee when swinging around she nearly ran into a girl her own age, who was calmly standing in the street. “Oops, sorry.” She apologized over nearly running the bystander over.

“Princess of what?” The girl asked with a soft and calm voice. She possesed strangely intense but gentle lavender eyes beneath a chin length bowl cut of very dark purple hair.

“Um-- nothing, he’s just an idiot.” She answered, not sure how to feel about the look being directed at her. The other teen was wearing a simple, knee length, dark purple dress that complimented her eye and hair color along with a simple dark blue silk shawl wrapped around her shoulders. She was slightly shorter than Akane with a slim but attractive build.

“Hey Hotaru.” Ranma landed nimbly next to her and gave the new girl a small wave of his hand.

“You know her?” Akane turned to narrow her eyes at the Jusenkyo cursed teen.

“How else would I know her name?” He blinked owlishly at her as though she was the dumbest person alive.

Sorry for the small teaser

It's really which foot she wants to put into it.

----------

“You know her?” Akane turned to narrow her eyes at the Jusenkyo cursed teen.

“How else would I know her name?” He blinked owlishly at her as though she was the dumbest person alive. Akane’s eyes narrowed into tiny little slits and her lips pursed into a thin line. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked before she suddenly reached forward, intending to grab him before repeatedly slamming him through the concrete. Only for her fingers to bounce painfully off an invisible barrier between them.

“Ouch!” She hissed, having nearly jammed several of her fingers. ‘What was that? Some senshi power?’

“Akane, this is Usa’s friend, Tomoe Hotaru.” Ranma introduced as though she hadn’t just been thwarted in her pervert bashing attempt by a mysterious force.

“Your cousin’s friend?” She looked suspiciously between the two, noting that this Hotaru girl was their own age, putting her nearly a decade older than Usagi.

“I used to be Chibi-Usa’s nanny.” Hotaru explained smiling pleasantly, hands clasped in front of her hips. “Ranma-san told me that she was staying with him for martial arts training, I just wanted to check in and see how she was doing.”

“Oh--.” Akane continued to give Ranma suspicious glances out of the corner of her eye, mulling over that story. “When did he tell you?” She asked, remembering that Usagi had only appeared late last night and she couldn’t recall Ranma making any phone calls.

“I sent her a text before I went to sleep.” He answered for the new girl.

“You don’t have a cell phone.” She scoffed.

“Sure I do.” Ranma appeared to reach into his pocket and pulled out a silver cell phone and used his thumb to push the top up to reveal a keypad. “It was hard to get one that was tough and waterproof but totally worth it.”

“So who else are you texting?’ Akane asked dangerously, mind furiously listing all the possible females he could be talking to without her knowledge.

“Nobody really-- kind of a waste to have it.” He shrugged, ignoring her accusation. “Say Akane, aren’t you being rude by not introducing yourself?”

“Good afternoon, I’m Tendo Akane.” She greeted tersely with a small bow before turning back to Ranma. “Don’t change the subject, who could you possibly be calling?” She demanded, not wanting him to just slip this by her.

“Way to make a first impression.” He rolled his eyes and put his cell phone away. “Don’t mind her, once she’s calmed down, she’s a lot nicer.” He told the new girl as they simply walked away from her. “When she’s not being a violent maniac.”

Hotaru giggled demurely, falling into step next to the dark haired boy, and appearing immensely amused by something. “That’s funny, how can she be both nice and a violent maniac?”

Ranma just shrugged in response.

Akane’s anger fizzled at Ranma’s strange reaction. That he even had a cell phone was enough to make her mind sputter. He was also acting very friendly with this former nanny. First she had found out that he was one of the Sailor Senshi and now she was finding all these things about him that she had never known or even suspected. ‘Who are you really, Ranma?’ She mused. ‘Because I’m going to want answers.’

meh the communicators were lame anyway, besides with current cell phone technology the communicators would sadly look modern rather then magical.

Or like cheap toys.

So Ranma/Ami redesigned them. :snigger:

well they would need some tweaks just to ensure absolute privacy. such as to prevent prying fiancees from checking text history/call history and finding something. add an emergancy all call button on it or some such.

Cell phones in Japan are... cheaper then in North America but from what I hear they are pratically disposable.

That said Akane probably wouldn't pry into how he could afford one or such.

Could require a senshi's energy signature to even operate, privacy concerns solved. Could have a scene with Nabiki stealing it thinking she might be able to use it as blackmail material but finds she can't even turn it on. Akane as well.

Unfortunately I've decided to turn this into a little miniseries of about six chapters. And with that this chapter seems to become really big and unruly with no focus so I'll end it at Usa joking about Usagi/Mamoru going at it like rabbits.

Plan right now (Usually don't do this)
Chapter 2 - Ranma trying to introduce Akane to the senshi covertly and establish some character interaction. Will end with me being a big meanie head to Ryoga.

Chapter 3 - Big bad gets revealed along with his plan. Ranma tries to find a balance with Akane, Kasumi.... and Nodoka. More Theia backstory/powers revealed.

Chapter 4 - Things start to spiral out of control with the big bad being competent. More senshi involvement and a changing dynamic between the inners/outers and their relationship to Ranma and Usagi.

Chapter 5 - Escalation of hostilities and big bad is stopped

Chapter 6 - Aftermath/epilogue

Looks like Saotome-foot-in-mouth disease is contagious, doesn't it Akane?
Think for a second... Hotaru was Usa's nanny. Usa is Ranma's 'cousin'. Ranma knows Usa. Therefore, Ranma knows Hotaru. Simple, No?

Gotta wonder now how soon Usagi will show up to greet Chibi-Usa. Hopefully not too soon because Nabiki will spot the resemblance between them immediately.

I like the idea of the upgraded communicator/cell phones. But it would be fun if Kasumi could use it also, but no one else.

this leds into the interesting problem, Ranma was on the road the entire time and had no chance to contact Usa. Thus she must have been introduced some time after Ranma met his mother. How would Ranma have met Hotaru without Akane noticing. More to the point he recognized her right away which questions why they seem so friendly towards each other.

And it continues. (First chapter ends with Usa suggesting her parents are making her)

------

Tendo Home

“Gee Pop, I thought you were going to train her.” Ranma remarked glibly, enjoying the angry pout on Chibi-Usa’s face as she kept her arms crossed, and made a point to ignore him. She was sitting on the floor with her legs stretched out straight in front of her, a handful of small bandages decorating her knees. Dress in a blue shirt and white shorts, she didn’t look like she had dressed appropriately for training.

“It was just the first day.” Genma answered him, speaking in his wise old sensei voice. “I needed to gauge what level she was at.”

Ranma nodded in agreement, earning a darting glare from the pink haired girl. He almost felt bad for whatever horror Genma would be coming up in the pursuit of training, but then he remembered her little blackmail this morning. ‘If she knows to use that kind of thing against me then she knows how my mother would react.’ This was a perfect proxy punishment as far as he was concerned.

Akane was flanking him closely, occasionally giving Hotaru a suspicious look. Kasumi was kneeling next to the living room table, preparing something cool to drink for everyone. His mother was next to Usagi, having finished applying the unnecessary bandages on the girl’s minor scrapes.

“It looks like you did your best on the first day.” Hotaru complimented the traveler from the future from her place next to him.

“I sprained my ankle.” Chibi-Usa blurted out.

“So only light training tomorrow.” Nodoka instructed Genma making Usagi pale momentarily. The Saotome matriarch finally turned her attention away from Chibi-Usa to notice Hotaru. “And who is this young lady?” She asked him, Hotaru’s presence having remained unnoticed until she had spoken.

“I am Tomoe Hotaru, it is a pleasure to meet you Saotome Nodoka-san.” The dark purple haired girl greeted and bowed. “I used to be Usa’s nanny and Ranma has told me a great deal about you.”

“Has he?” Nodoka and Akane asked at the same time with two very different inflections.

“When did he do this exactly?” Akane demanded.

“It was awhile ago.” Hotaru answered absently, not paying much attention to the youngest Tendo sister as she knelt down next to Chibi-Usa. “Let me help.”

“No-- no need.” Chibi-Usa laughed nervously.

“But it’ll slow down your training if I don’t, right?” The dark purple haired girl held her hands over Usagi’s sprained ankle. A bright pink glow surrounded the small girl’s legs, focused primarily on her ankle, it pulsed strongly than diminished until vanishing completely. “There-- all better.”

“Oh thank you so much.” Chibi-Usa gushed sarcastically with a grimace and gently flexed her ankle.

“What a useful talent, if only I had that on hand when training the boy.” Genma stared in greedy wonder at the ability. Ranma joined Chibi-Usa in grimacing. “Who taught you how to do that, girl?” He asked, wringing his hands together in anticipation.

“It’s a-- personal-- ability.” Hotaru answered with a small blush at the attention.

“My son always has such interesting friends.” Nodoka looked impressed at the results of Hotaru’s healing.

“With you around I could really train her seriously.” Genma slapped Hotaru on the shoulders. “How about it? Want to stay and help your friend out?”

Ranma covered his mouth with a hand to hide his smirk at the horrified look that crossed Chibi-Usa’s face as the pink haired girl seemed to realize just how bad this could turn out for her. Hotaru had a sort of deer in headlights look to her as Genma waited expectantly for her answer.

“I’m sorry Saotome-san but I must decline your offer. I live too far away for it to be practical.”

“But--.” Genma looked like he wanted to cry.

“But I think Usa’s training in the martial arts is important so I’ll stop by when I can.” Hotaru added cheerfully.

“I do have this special training idea for tomorrow to jump start her progress-- where she may or may not lose a hand. Can your healing reattach limbs?”

“I prefer not to.” Hotaru answered clinically.

Chibi-Usa clutched desperately at Ranma’s shin. “Help me.” She begged in a tiny voice.

Ranma rolled his eyes and bopped his father over the head. “Pop you have to work up to that kind of thing.”

“Hotaru-san, will you be staying for dinner?” Kasumi asked, breaking up them going into various ways to train Chibi-Usa. The pink haired girl looking like she wanted to have a heart attack.

“It’s short notice but you’re more than welcome.” Nodoka chimed in, her gaze lingering between them in a way that told Ranma she was clearly happy to see another pretty female in his life.

“I’m sorry but I need to start heading back. Thank you very much for the offer.” Hotaru bowed to both of the women before addressing him. “I was able to get a pair of tickets for you.” She dug into her bag and pulled out an envelope to give to him. “Should be good seats.”

“Thanks Hotaru.” Ranma took the envelope before anyone else with grabby hands could beat him to the punch.

“Ranma-- tickets to what?” Akane asked with narrowed eyes.

“I better show you before you flip out and destroy the house.” He sighed dramatically and handed one to his fiance.

“An orchestra?” The short haired girl asked without being impressed, allowing Kasumi to take the ticket from her.

“How lucky, it’s for the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.” Kasumi shifted the ticket so that Nodoka could see. “That’s so romantic.” She hummed dreamily and allowed Akane to take it back.

“It’s not like it’s a date or anything.” He said defensively.

“Way to go boy! Let’s get you dressed for the wedding.” Genma grabbed him and tried to pull him out of the room.

“Stuff it old man!” He kicked his father out the doorway and into the yard. “Quit getting stupid ideas!”

“Now, now, it is quite romantic, son.” His mother added calmly. “I’m not sure where you got that from.” She glanced out towards Genma in annoyance.

“I didn’t even say I was going to take Akane.” His shoulders slumped upon realizing that his mother and the two Tendo sisters were now ignoring him completely.

“What was that? You wanted to take some boy from school?” Chibi-Usa’s childish voice cut into the three older females who all immediately locked their eyes on him.

Ranma’s eyes widened in horror. “No.” He shook his head violently side to side. “That’s not true.”

“Then why would she say it?” Nodoka asked, instantly siding with the seemingly innocent child.

“She’s just a little kid, she doesn’t know what she’s saying.” He laughed nervously. Not wanting to verbally admit that the plan was to take Akane because it would only encourage his father’s marriage plans.

“Nuh uh, this morning you even mentioned finding the right dress.” Usagi added helpfully.

“You will pay for this.” Ranma whispered venomously down to the sinisterly smiling pink haired girl. “Hey Hotaru, look at the time, didn’t you say you had to get back?’ He shuffled the other Senshi quickly from the room before his mother could stop him.

“Ranma, what is this about a dress?” Nodoka demanded after him.

“Nothing!”

Esclating the war with Ranma isn't exactly the smartest thing she could have done.

Ahh, let me guess. While at the symphony, Ranma is greeted by Michuru and Haruka. Akane's sphincter factor tightens when she sees the elegantly gowned verdantly-tressed violinist with the bishonen blonde in the feminine tuxedo casually talking to her iinazuke. Mayhem about to commence when youma appear.

Something like that, minus the youma, they'll have a different part to play later on. It'd be really suspicious if Ranma keeps running into youma whenever out, when I want their attacks to be a bit more rare. I mean, if Ranma was being constantly hounded by these things, that'd imply that the leader of that has some kind of closeness to him. ^_^ Maybe a personal grudge or two.

Haruka does have to tease Ranma about his sexuality. Ranma and Akane? How scandalous! Take that for what you may. :snigger:

Well if your playing Haruka as the usual butch lesbian 'I can kick any guys ass, take any challenge' then I can see Ranma's response asking if she'd like to spar later and if Haruka backs off asking if she is afraid.

Sure Ranma gets played by his pride all the time but he can play head games almost as well when he feels the need too.
