Evangelion Ninja Genesis Evangelion

Saw this in the Stargate: Konoha Fact Challenge thread, and wondered why the idea hadn't been used. Not sure if it belongs here on in Naruto Ideas. I guess it depends on who the main character is.

So, the pilots and potential pilots are ninja, Gendo is the village leader (jounin-taichou or soutaichou, perhaps, since it would be political and physical suicide to call himself a Kage), and given the (NERV-derived) half-leaf symbol, I'd say that they're a satellite village of Konoha. Misato would be the kids' jounin-sensei.

I'm thinking that SEELE is a conspiracy that's manipulating the Elemental Countries, but the plot of the story should clearly be different from NGE-canon.

Thoughts?

If they are normal ninja, or perhaps a cross with something like Ninja Cadets... I might read it to see how the problems doing this to their characters might be resolved with the NGE storyline.

If this is a Naruto cross and that type of ninja... no. For me, that is what some might call autofail.

The problem with the concept as a whole though, is the why of it. Gendo's and Seele's plans both rely on pilots being in the dark, and being either eager enough to serve without question (Asuka), or emotionally distraught and blackmailes and brought up with so little spine as to question anything (Shinji), or basically manipulated from birth for complete loyalty (Rei). If you do this, how would control be done, or if they know the truth, why they would still follow.

Additionally, if they are made Ninja (of any type), there is the fact that since to fight angels, how would the abilities benefit them in combat?

So... if Gendo and Seele would have no need of them being Ninja, in fact have reasons to not do so, then they would have to become it on their own. Ok, I can see one, possibly two, but all three do so, when they had no contact with each other. Maybe if a rival to Seele/Nerv knew the kids would be manipulated, they might approach the kids and train them. But that still leaves how, as while it might be easily done for Shinji, Asuka and Rei were brought up on Nerv bases, under likely constant guard.

Now, one could ignore all the above issues, and change the plot and backdrop so it fits... But then, with changes that widespread to character, motivation, personality, and backdrop... would it still be an NGE story?

I once ran across a fanfic some time back that crossed Naruto with NGE, with a trio of genins from the "Hidden Village of Angels", which just popped up for the chunin exam. Was quite amusing. Sadly, I lost the link... -_-

Shame that it's pretty much dead.
It was very nice execution, of an idea that one might think impossible.

Last time I saw any kind of Naruto/Evangelion crossover, it was so full of character assassination against the Eva characters that I wanted to shoot the so-called 'author' of the story.

For a brief, shining moment, I thought this would have mixed something like Ninja Scroll or even Shinobi. Those would have been more interesting crossover options. Hell, Jubei-chan would be funny to see done in Evangelion.

Since NERV (or SEELE or both) wanted to create a better world using the Third Impact, maybe one could replace or mix them with Pain and the Akatsuki.

Or instead of Pain, Konan and Yahiko, it's Asuka, Shinji and Rei.

Shinji Ikari as raised by Jiraiya, or who the hell does the Akatsuki plan on summoning? B) Don't make him put his hat on.

Conversely, chakra beings are either Angels unbound by their material form; ie, some of the later Angels in the series don't seem to have a core or that the world with chakra in itself is a dream of diety. It could actually be done; three children found and raised as shinobi. A new life in a new place.

If not a strict force-sub of Naruto, then just make Eva the distant history of the shinobi nations. Why the Japanese theme? Because while the 'ground zero' of Impact, ironically that also means that it would be the first to recover. Humanity as the final Angel discovers the light of their soul unbound. This explains the sentient animals and spacetime manipulation, as everything; all life, has been reborn into a new world and a new form. Then just reincarnation. This would be best used as pre-Konoha.

Or, just simply; one of Shinji's Alternate Universes again.
