An idea that deserves it's own thread.

What if Negi became Kaede's Master in the sense of being something like the Lord Ninja's and Samurai swore fealty to.

Any suggestions as to what the fight against Eva would be like?

Kaede would probably handle early Chachamaru pretty easily, letting Negi concentrate solely on Eva.

No Asuna would cause problems later on though, unless she becomes a partner pretty soon there after.

Would a variant of this idea be he goes to Kaede for martial arts training instead of Ku?

Sure, but the main point is that Negi become Kaede's Master.

I wonder what would happen if Negi started mixing ninjutsu (do they call it ninjutsu in this manga?) with magic. Like Kaede's cloak but on a broader scale.

I'm pretty sure the ninja techniques run off ki so combining them with magic should result in kankaho. You know in Rakan's flashback Nagi could use the clone technique, so he might have had contact with some ninjas, perhaps Kaede's clan, and that's how Negi became Kaede's 'Master'.

Ki and magic are the smae thing. The only difference is in the source. Asuna uses Negi's mental magic with her physical magic. With a pactio Kaede could do the same, but without the knowledge it wouldn't matter.

Yeah and they don't react well to each other so that's why it takes special training to use them both.

The magic from the pactio does give passive upgrades though, which is why Negi made one with Setsuna. It certainly wasn't because of the artifact, since she didn't actually use it until an entirely different conflict.

It should be noted that the passive upgrade is based on giving power. If the mage in question was weak the difference would be negligible.
