not for guilmon at least
Hm...well, this idea will probably stick to just Takato (cause Ruki and Jenrya have sucky alternate forms; Terriermon has Seraphimon, which could be interesting, but that's it. Renamon's slightly better off, but her possibilities still suck. My theory is that Guilmon took all the good evolutions), though Seiya wanted me to do a Suzie-Minervamon thing, so I might do that if I get a good idea.

Ruki and Jenrya arrived the scene minutes later, thanks to some speed cards.

And as they did, they had to stop and look around in horrified awe.

The entire street was trashed. The buildings on both sides of it were completely destroyed. Not broken or damaged, but annihilated. Where they had once stood, the only remains left had the consistency of sand.

But it was the center of the street that drew the eye.

There was a crater some hundred meters in width. And it was deep, too. As they drew to the edge of it and looked down within, they both realized that it was as deep as it was wide.

Jenrya looked around quickly.

ôTakatoàwhereÆs Takato!?ö He asked, suddenly panicked.

ôOver here.ö A voice interrupted his thoughts.

Jenrya turned towards the noise, mouth opened to ask questions and demand answers.

But it shut with a click as soon as he saw the owner of the voice.

ôàDad?ö He asked confusedly.

Lee Janyuu didnÆt seem to match the area at all. While the street looked like it had just been bombs nonstop for days and the two Tamers looked beaten, JenryaÆs father could have just walked out of as office building.

Except for one thing.

In his arms was something that could have been a teddy bear if not for the horns on its head. It also had strange teeth-like ridges on its head that partially circled it like a crown and some red marks that looked like something had scratched it.

But even with all that, it was adorable.

But that was not what drew the Tamers eyes. Instead, they focused on the chains that were wrapped around its body. They glowed with a misty aura, and was affixed toà

An egg shaped clock.

Ruki and Jenrya met each otherÆs eyes, before returning to stare incredulously at the creature.

ôDad, what am I looking at?ö Jenrya asked, momentarily putting aside his worry for his friend, though it was difficult.

TheyÆd seen Takato and MegaloGrowmon get hit by the same light that had tried to get their partners as well. It seemed to hurt Megalogrowmon, which was why Jenrya was thankful Taomon had been there to shield Rapidmon. TheyÆd seen someone, who they hadnÆt been able to identify at the time but who Jenrya now guessed was his dad, help Takato to his partnerÆs side right before he devolved.

And then the lights had faded.

But that was the last thing theyÆd seen before the screens suddenly went stopped working.

But even if the screens hadnÆt worked, theyÆd still seen it. That pillar of darkness that reached into the skyà

They rushed over as soon as the lights were gone. The Monkey Deva had escaped and theyÆd both been kicking themselves for their failure, butà

What had happened here?

ôI thinkàö Janyuu began. ôIÆm not completely sure, but I thinkàthis is your friend Takato.ö

Ruki and Jenrya stared at him like he was insane.

 Awesome.

I wonder how long Takato's going to spend in Sleep Mode.

You must include scenes of scenes of various people gushing over Belphemon and going on about "how cute it is". Extra points if Takato reverts back to human at the 'worst possible moment'.

So is the next snip going to be Lee Janyuu describing what happened to the other two Tamers?

Something to remember, though. Sleep Mode may be cute, but even so:

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/Da-276/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Sleep Mode</a> is stronger then <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/DM-152/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Omegamon.</a>

Both of those cards are from the same set, ALPHA + CARDDASS, by the way.

Did those cards come out after Savers? Because the Savers anime really didn't seem to believe that.

The Royal Knights were in another league then Belphemon in the anime.

You guys did notice that the text for Omegamon stated that he could attack 3 times per turn right? He may be beaten in numbers, but I would hardly say his strength is off with that kind of ability.

Edit: also, sleep mode's inability to use most of his attacks means that Omegamon would actually rip it to shreds.

I'm not sure exactly when they came out, but it was in 2006, I think. Meaning it was before or during. Also, since there was a ShineGreymon Burst Mode card in that set, Savers was almost certainly running at the time.

Even so, <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/Da-520/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>ShineGreymon Burst Mode</a> is way weaker then <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/DM-213/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Belphemon.</a>

Also, since that set came out, ShineGreymon Burst Mode and Belphemon have both appeared in the same set again, though only once.

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-332/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Burst Mode</a> was weaker then both cards. <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-413/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Here</a> and <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-461/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>here.</a>

Normal ShineGreymon was always weaker then Belphemon, no matter what set he was in.

As for the Royal Knights (within Alpha Card)...

Weaker:

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-553/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-553/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-551/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-551/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-465/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-465/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-424/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-424/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-423/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-423/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-422/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-422/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-416/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-416/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-252/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-252/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-251/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-251/</a>

<a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-249/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha/Da-249/</a>

Stronger:

None.

Within Alpha Card, the most recent set, there are seven...subsets I guess. Alpha Evolve 01-07. In addition, there is an expansion to Alpha Evolve 02. Despite that, there are no cards belonging to the Royal Knights that can defeat Belphemon.

This includes Crimson Mode.

Of all the Royal Knight cards I know of, I can only think of two cards that managed to beat Belphemon within the same set.

The first was <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/Da-499/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Omegamon X</a>. This card is weaker then the more recent Belphemon, though.

The second is <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/Da-498/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Alphamon Ouryuuken</a>. This card is strong then even the recent Belphemon...by 10 points. Belphemon is 1580, Alphamon is 1590.

I'll look through the other sets in a bit.

Edit:

Update: There are no Royal Knights within Data Carddass that could defeat Belphemon.

Edit 2:

Finished looking. There are no published Royal Knight cards except the two listed above that are capable of defeating Belphemon. Most of them are weaker then Sleep Mode, actually, though several very powerful ones, like Crimson Mode, are able to defeat Belphemon while he's unconscious.

If he's awake, they die, though.

Well, there's <a href='http://cards.wtw-x.net/alpha_carddass/Da-277/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>this</a> version of Belphemon that's weaker. Still stronger than most of those Royal Knights cards though...

Beating Belphemon Sleep Mode probably wouldn't actually be that hard, since he's asleep.

Just don't get in front of him and stab him in the back.

His only attack's are breathing and what is apparently him twitching and bumping his blanket of flaming chains, causing it to release a burst of energy.

Also, Kurata couldn't fight for shit, all the power in the world ain't worth shit if you can't use it.

Also, Quo Vadis.

EDIT: Speaking of breathing...

How are they gonna deal with that?

His Lampranthas attack is just his breathing.

Which means he destroys everything before him whenever he exhales.

That's probably gonna be a TAD awkward.

Does that mean the Tamers could destroy the D-Reaper just by throwing Takaot/Guilmon in their new form into it? Although it'd be easier just to drop him onto it considering it's in that giant hole...

Just to make things more awkward for Takato, his breathing attack somehow only destroys cloths.

Actually, it says he yawns and realeases a powerful shockwave/wave of destruction. It doesn't say anything about direction. But going off of Belphemon in Savers, when Sleep Mode woke up, it destroyed everything around him and was Omnidirectional. Which makes sense, because that's how sound opperates.

His other attack does the same, only with infernal flames.

It's probably because he can't really aim, so he has attacks that make it so he doesn't have to.

Anyway, it's not his breathing, it's his yawn that destroys everything, so it's not really a problem.

Ruki wondered how the hell sheÆd gotten dragged into this as she walked home.

She was carrying the creature that was quite possibly her fellow Tamer like it was a stuffed animal.

Her mother was going to get really weird if she saw her with this, but she supposed sheÆd deal with it. SheÆd already seen her with Culumon, after allà

Stillà

She sighed. Why did she have to do this?

SheÆd asked Jenrya why he couldnÆt do it, but heÆd quickly stammered out an excuse about his little sister and fates worth then death. Terriermon had immediately backed his Tamer upon.

SheÆd suggested Juri, but Jenrya had mentioned sheÆd be having enough trouble as it was. Apparently her wish had come true and sheÆd managed to partner up with Leomon, if only after Leomon had nearly died against Makuramon. On the down side, as partners go, Leomon was the hardest to hide. The fact that Juri lived with both of her parents and had a little brother only made the problem worse; Jenrya had a larger family, but he could just pass his partner off as a stuffed animal and be done with it, especially since most of his siblings were older than him and usually away from the house.

Ruki had to chuckle at the image of Juri trying to pass Leomon off as a stuffed animal.

SheÆd tried grasping at straws after that, mentioning Hirokazu and Kenta and then TakatoÆs parents.

Jenrya had just looked at her.

ôYes, Ruki, letÆs talk to his parents. æHello, Matsuda-san. IÆm sorry, butàI have bad news. Your sonàis a stuffed animal. Here you go.Æö He said. ôWeÆll have to think of something to tell them if we canÆt turn Takato back quickly. We might have to tell them that, but we at least need some way to prove it. And, like Hirokazu and Kenta, they donÆt have partners, meaning that if something went horribly wrong, any help would be far away.ö

Ruki had reluctantly agreed after that.

ItÆs not like it was forever. Hopefully, it wouldnÆt even be for long.

TheyÆd agreed. They needed to go to the Digital World and find Culumon. The problem wasà

They had no idea how to get to the Digital World.

Jenrya said he would work on it with his father, leaving Ruki to babysit. At least Katou had promised to helpà

Well, actually Ruki had asked her to, in an attempt to snap her out of the guilt she was feeling for losing Culumon.

Ruki sighed, coming to a stop in front of her house. The lights were on, so her family was in.

ôRenamon, take Takato to my room, please.ö She asked the darkness.

ôAs you wish, Ruki.ö He partnerÆs voice replied, seemingly coming from nowhere.

Ruki didnÆt so much as see her leave as she suddenly felt like she was alone. The fact that the creature sheÆd been carrying in her arms was now gone probably had something to do with it.

She closed her eyes and silently prepared herself for what was to come. No doubt her mother would be worried since she hadnÆt seen her when everything in the city was going to hell.

But even so, though she wouldnÆt admit ità

That was fine, too. For just a few days, it was fine.

Because soon sheÆd have to leave for another world.

And she couldnÆt say what she would find there.

ôSo, what do we do?ö Ruki asked impatiently the next day.

All the Tamers, plus Hirokazu and Kenta, had gathered by GuilmonÆs shed. She wasnÆt completely sure how it had happened, but it had become the unofficial meeting spot of the Tamers.

They were, supposedly, here to talk about getting to the Digital World. Having said that, if she hadnÆt know that it was Jenrya whoÆd called the meeting, she would have thought it was just a cover story to allow TakatoÆs friend to see what heÆd become. As it was, only she and Jenrya were really talking about the issue; Juri, Hirokazu, and Kenta were huddled around the new Takato who was breathing peacefully.

ôH-heÆs so cute!ö Juri squeaked.

Hirokazu just shook his head forlornly.

ôPoor Takato. He saved the city and his only reward is being turned into a stuffed animal.ö

ôI think youÆre looking at this the wrong way, Hirokazu.ö Terriermon chimed in. ôLook at the way JuriÆs mooning over him.ö

HirokazuÆs expression brightened even as Juri pulled away and blushed.

ôOh, good point!ö

ôI bet if we werenÆt hiding him, heÆd be swimming in women.ö Kenta said thoughtfully.

ôBeing held in feminine arms-ö Terriermon said suggestively.

ôClutched to chests-ö Kenta added, getting into it.

ôHey, do you think RukiÆs effected?ö Hirokazu interrupted.

The others apparently hadnÆt thought about that, and the three of them looked towards Ruki as one. Even Juri was looking at her shyly.

Ruki firmly quashed the urge for violence and took control of the situation.

ôOkay, you know what? Enough about Takato?ö She said, marching over and taking him from JuriÆs arms. ôWe need to focus on how to get to the Digital World. IÆm putting him in the shed; let him sleep.ö

She walked up the stairs and placed him inside it, making sure he was away from the hole Guilmon had dug, and turned around.

ôRenamon, keep an eye on him.ö

ôYes, Ruki.ö

Ruki began to stalk down the stairs, opening her mouth to say something else, only to be interrupted as Renamon grabbed her and bounded down the stairs.

ôWhatà?ö Ruki began to ask, only for a thunderous explosion to cut her off.

Someone, Juri, screamed, but Leomon was nearby, so she wasnÆt worried about her or the duo, but-

ôTerriermon, shinka!ö

Jenrya would be okay, too, then, but that still left-

ôTakato!ö Ruki said, squirming in her partnerÆs arms. Renamon only tightened her hold as some sort of shockwave hit her.

There was screaming and yelling, but Ruki couldnÆt see where it was coming from or from who. She could see what had caused the explosion, either, at least not until Renamon let her go. Then she same the source-

Ruki froze.

The entire top of the hill had been blown off.

She glanced around, confirming that the others were safe, before running up the stairs. She had to slow down half way to the remains of the shed, as the stairs quickly became cracked and broken, but she slowly made her way there.

ôTakato! Damn it, where are you!ö She said, scanning the area. She heard the others coming up behind her, but paid them no mind. She couldnÆt see very well through the lingering dust and smoke, but was thatà?

She had to move slowly since she was basically walking blind, but she reached what she saw as quickly as she could.

ôThere you are! I canÆt believe youÆre causing trouble when youÆre not even conscious!ö She said, but her tone gave away her relief.

She picked him up and was about to turn away when a stray breeze moved the dust and smoke ever so slightly, letting her glance something that stopped her.

ôG-guysàGuys! Get over here! You have to see this!ö She suddenly shouted before coughing as she inhaled some dust.

A Digital Gate û no, more like a tear in reality, hovered in the air.

She squeezed Takato a little tighter as her coughing died down.

ôWellàö She whispered. ôThat solves one problem.ö

I can just imagine what happens when Beelzebumon attacks them:

He starts shooting at the Tamers just like in canon, but when he gets close... Takato yawns.
