Non-translated:

Go to the date entry:2007 May 23rd:

The screen shows Xth form Haseo, but also Sakisaka and Tabby.

TIME PARADOX!

Because we know from Roots that Sakisaka quit (cancelled his account if I remember correctly.) And from Vol. 3 we know Tabby returns, but not Sakisaka.

And also its on BeeTrain's website and they were at least partially behind the animes of: .hack//SIGN, .hack//Liminality, .hack//GIFT, .hack//Legend of the Twilight, and .hack//Roots.

Or in other words, all of the .hack// animes.

So, Hoax or not?

Also the Google-translated page is one of the most poorly translated things ever. It slightly amuses me. Here is an example:

You see as 2007 May 19th Yokohama everyone, the leprosy

Not a hoax. Special OVA the japanese players get after getting a copy of each volume. If I remember correctly, each GU game released in japan had a special code, and you need a code from each volume. Send it in and you get the OVA, or something like that. It has yet to be actually released though, as far as I can tell. And who knows if we would ever get it over here.

Anyway, from what I read before, it's a weird messed up thing. It, as you said, has Sakisaka and Xth form, and supposedly has none of/very little of the characters from only the games. Basically, the OVA looks like it's going to act as though the events of the game happened, but at the same time didn't happen. The only characters you should see would be the ones that were in Roots, specifically the former Twilight Brigade, with a random Sakisaka cameo...yeah.

Ah, I see. Being that all of the .hack anime have had releases in other countries, I can't see why it wouldn't eventually make its way over eventually.

Sounds interesting and confusing though. Especially with Sakisaka being there, with him quitting in Roots and like one reference in the G.U. games. So would that mean AIDA would be gone, or would it not be?

Because it sounds like a very confusing concept.

I'd just prefer an OVA taking place after G.U. personally.
