Harry Potter Paths laid before you

Ok, after reading Make a Wish and running across a few other fics like it, I was curious.

What if James, as a contingency plan, called in a number of favors to make sure that Harry is properly trained to battle Voldemort (this is assuming that he and Lily know of the prophesy).

Of course, not even Dumbledore realizes James' actions until Fred and George try to instigate a prank on Harry, and the plan is set in motion.

Who or what would James contact in order to get Harry trained to battle a wizard with decades more training than him.

This idea originally came about from pottersplace scene contest with Fred and George deciding that Harry needs to learn about human relationships the FUN way...by sending him "starkers" to a Veela colony. It is only later that they realize that something else happened than what they had originally intended.

My guess would be that James and Lily would turn to... Dumbledore.

Things could actually become pretty darn interesting, if that was the case. If he's focused on fulfilling their desires for Harry to grow up into a competent mage instead of having Harry living a normal childhood, we'd see a very different story.

A couple of months a year at Privet Drive to renew the protections, training the rest of the time. Fumblebore probably won't have time to do all of it, or even most of the training himself, rather bringing in old associates and whatnot to train the boy. DADA with Moody, Charms with Flitwick during summer breaks, Potions with Flamel, Transfiguration with McG in the winter breaks and so on. Basic training in all subjects, as well as Harry's main caretaker, would probably be Remus and/or Moody, seeing as how they're either unemployed or retired, thus leaving them with a great deal of time on their hands.

Both of them would probably be pretty gung ho and eager to do it as well. Remus because he's J&L's son and Moody would probably be even more eager if he's told how important it is to turn Harry into a competent fighter for the future of the wizarding world.


Seeing how suspicions ran rampant at the time, Remus and Sirius would probably be out of the question. Peter, possibly. After all, they did trust him enough to make him the secret keeper.


But if not any of the above, some ACC friend of J&L would be my best bet.
