In what circumstances is Necromancy acceptable?
Just so I don't go about repeating my mistakes ... :sweat2:

I don't know what the board rules are on it, but to me, it's not necromancy if you have something interesting and original to say about it.

Pulling threads off the oldest page just to say 'I agree' is gonna get you a lot of flak on any board.

Well, I meant on the site, but it would have been interesting to know how things apply to real life as well ... ^_^

Pretty much what geryon said.

There are no rules regarding necromancy. No matter how long a topic has been dead, you can still post in it regardless. Generally, it's a good idea to actually contribute something to the discussion (i.e., something more than "lol, that was funny", or "Yeah, I think so too".), but even that is not strictly necessary as long as you're not pointlessly spamming.

I just thought up another question to ask, if it isn't too silly to answer.
How long does a thread need to be unanswered before it is counted as "dead"?

A thread with no replies? I'd say a week or two shows that noone thought it interesting enough to comment.

As for a thread that already has several replies, a couple of months of inactivity would constitute it as "dead" I guess. But that doesn't mean you can't reactivate it again, presuming you have something of importance or interest to say, just agreeing or asking for moar is beyond bad manners and punishable by flaming and scathing image-macros.

Unless you're the creator of the thread, then you can abuse it however you want, I guess, as long as it isn't pointless bumping, if it hasn't been answered after one bump you should get the hint and let it die.

Message received ... creator can abuse, provided there is interest, others cannot unless they have something of importance to point out concerning the thread.
But that doesn't explain why when I replied the the "I'm the Juggeruto B*tch" thread, I was more or less scolded, when I pointed out a possible flaw in all the theories wandering about ...

That person was likely an idiot then, or it was just a knee-jerk reaction. There's been some random necroing going on the past months, not many of those were valid necros..

If anyone does anything wrong it's up to the administrators to handle those problems. I'm against a private police force on the boards.

Social censureship is a valid form of behavioral moderation. If it's not against the rules, moderators shouldn't have to get involved IMHO.

:eek:t:

This has nothing to do with Thread Necromancy. It also has nothing to do with Naruto, come to think of it. But this question has been rolling around in my head for a while, and when I saw the topic name, I figured...why not?

So my question is this; just about everyone in Bleach is dead. Dead and in the next life; at least most of the characters we see and really interact with are. The Soul Reapers, the people in Rukongai, the Hollows, the Arrancar, the Vaizard...they're all dead.

So the question I want answered is this; if Rukia and Ichigo hook up at the end of the story, would that be considered necrophilia?

I apologize for the off-topic, but I just REALLY had to ask.

No. Necrophilia is having sex with a dead body.

No body, ergo, no necrophilia.

I also have no idea what -philia it would be.

It may not follow the strict letter of the law of necrophilia, but it sure as hell upholds the spirit of necrophilia.

phasmaphilia
phasmatisphilia
animusphilia

All latin derivatives, but the only matches I can find for spirit. Phasma and phasmatis both pop up for ghost as well.

As for necrophilia, the necro (from the Greek nekros) doesn't just mean corpse, but dead also. So, necrophilia could stand on its own.

Hoped it helped.
