Before you post, let it be said this isn't about things that you actively HATE with full-blown reason, but rather, things that you think that DC made with their pre-52 verse that, for one reason or the other, was just plain puzzling for you to accept or things that you wondered of their comics. I've got quite a few things that I'm scratching my head about on DC's pre-52.
1. Nightwing and Barbara's Age Gap Getting Smaller and Smaller
I was always a Babs/Rich shipper from the get-go, especially since I dug through a few of my Uncle's old 70s and 80s collection of Batman Comics. They had this adorable young admirer and precocious crush dynamic that made people just go mushy, and as Dick Grayson became an adult, the 90s and early 2000s saw this relationship bloom... and we get told a few recaps on their little masochistic samba from the last 20 or so years of continuity.
Barbara was in her early 20s when she became Batgirl, while Dick Grayson was in his teens when they met. She was in her mid-20s when it was shown that she felt a mild case of attraction to him; DC has established that Dick had a titanic crush on the boot-kicking babe from the rooftops, and it was interesting to show the romantic development Dick had over the course of those years. So... it changed from Dick and Barbara having a 6-9 year age gap to somehow being the same age, and later, that Dick was older than her by about a year?
What's up with that? Why did DC need to facilitate this change? They're two heroes in love and because they're not the same age, they needed to make them? Weird and unnecessary.
2. Darkseid being merciful towards children
Yeah, no. NO. Darkseid is a being that unleashes righteous punishment even if he is mentioned in the same breath as kindness and morality. Bastard nukes his own son every other day of the week and commits planet-level genocide whenever he deems fit. Why did DC have to show that he had a soft spot for kids and protecting them from the harms of a child abuse ring? Standards of evil? Nope. He just likes kids, apparently.
I would have liked him to actually take the kids back to Apokolips and perform blasphemy-inducing levels of experimentation through Desaad to exploit human weakness or something, but nope. Darkseid does not like child abuse apparently.
Why in the world would someone write in that he doesn't condone child abuse when he's ordered thousands upon thousands of massacres that leave no survivors?
