Problem with TFF

Sorry if there is already a topic about this but I didn't know where else to put this....

I'm having a problem with one of the topics in the Lemon/Naruto section, each time I try to open it, it crashes the internet explorer screen that it's in....Personally I think that it contains just too much information and that it's causing my buffer to crash..

Here's a link: Evil Topic That's Crashing

I would appreciate it if someone were to do something about this so that I can read it in relative safety and peace.

Best advice I can give you:

1. Go to your profile.
2. Click on "Board Settings"
3. Set "Number of posts to show for each topic page" to 10.

After that... well, its pure text in there. I couldn't give you any other advice after that.

Oh wait...

it crashes the internet explorer screen
I have three questions then:

1. What version of IE are you using?
2. Do you have the same problem if you use another browser?
3. Does this happen anywhere else?

1.I'm using version 8.....
2. I actually don't have any other browser...
3. No...I've never had this problem before..

Edit: I tried doing what you suggested but it still crashed :headbanger:

>< Try one of the following browsers then to see if you still have the issue:

Firefox

Lolifox (direct download link)
Flock
Chromo (Google's brand browser)

Honestly, I still have no idea why you would have any difficulty viewing that page.
I should note, I'm on IE7 (did not know 8 final release was out until this morning).

I can get to that page just fine.

You forgot another well known browser. The one I use as backup:

Opera Software OperaI find it is far less troublesome and crash prone than the comparatively dreadful FireFox.

Even though it should not be accessible by those that don't have lemon access, I'd suggest killing the link just in case. It is still a link to lemon material outside of the lemon forum, best not to chance it, even if it should only be accessible to those with lemon access already.

No need as the only thing anyone who can't see it will see is a " you don't have permission to view this topic" error message when they click the link.

Yeah. This is different than linking a lemon content outside the forum. Anyone could access that. Though I'd say linking to something lemony on the regular part (even if it is to the lemon forum) is generally not a good idea, in this case, anyone without lemon access wouldn't be able to view them anyways.

And if you have lemon access, it's 'believed' (not always true. But at least believed) that you're old enough anyways. :p

Technically, I guess, someone might click it not expecting it to be unsafe for work.

Though, you shouldn't be on TFF during work in the first place.

I just clicked into it and nothing bad happened. Something is wrong with your computer. I don't know what.

Well... could be a couple things I guess...

I would uninstall, then reupgrade to IE 8. It was stated the system was on IE8, but not when, it could be a beta and not the final, or something could have been wrong in the initial upgrade process.

I would also clear history and cookies and all other temp files, it could be something is locked or corrupt in them.

If there are any extensions/plug ins/toolbars he is running with IE8, I would make sure they are disabled, could be one is not fully compatible with IE 8.

If he can not get to it with another browser, such as Opera or FireFox... then it is not browser related, and might be something like Java or Javascript. I would uninstall and reinstall the latest Java interpreter from Sun, and also clear the Java cache, which is separate from the IE cache.

Hi everyone. I'm new (hides behind brick wall).

Quick question: does this forum not have a moderator? I thought it was Hawk, but according to his profile he hasn't been logged in for 3.5 months...........

Just wanted to know who I'm supposed to PM if I have an problems.

Hawk was the moderator, but he seems to have given up on TFF for whatever reason.

So we are currently stuck without any higher up, so if anyone decided to just be a complete jerk, there really isn't anything to stop them......and thats a reason why I am rather angry that Hawk didn't give someone else admin power (unless he had a good reason).

We haven't had any major problems yet, but I'm sure it is only a matter of time......

Oh.....well thats crappy. I've been at other forums where this happened, and many died because some members decided they could boss everyone around, so big long arguements started in threads, but nothing ever happened because no one had any power to do anything.

Then a bunch of trolls just started posting all sorts of stuff that they shouldn't have, and the forums pretty much just turned to crap. They were a little smaller then this one, but that just means this one has a better chance of that happening.

Thanks for letting me know!

Hawk didn't necessarily give up. But, Hawk is an example on why having one Administrator could be a problem.

He's been playing World of Warcraft.

It's an addicting game. I should know. :p But it's also a game that, took Hawk away from his admin work for TFF. Without a mod or at least someone to take the load from him while he runs around Azeroth, TFF is pretty much on its own.

Yeah...

That pretty much describes this place. Nothing really happens except for some people posting images, an idea occasionally, and people talking about their stuff, unless you are here for Naruto, in which case I wouldn't know. I don't go there.

What you described is a bit worse, but yeah, pointless and stupid arguments that are massive in size, and some trolls that started showing up recently. Still, people find it awesome for some reason I cannot think of.

I am guilty of many of the issues, so....take of that what you will.

......the reason the moderator hasn't been on for almost 4 months is because he has been playing world of war craft?

That is a pretty crappy reason. <_<

Does it really take that much time to check PMs? At most, 15 minutes (I am assuming the PM boxes here have a limit.)

While I don't care that he is doing something else as it is his life, he has a responsibility as the only moderator for this forum to moderate or give someone else the ability to.

EDIT: How do I put those little sentences under my name? Like Knight of Ni has "I feel the rage." ???

Oh I agree it's a pretty crappy reason.

I play WoW, but I've been here enough to at least check the forums every so often.

But it's why he hasn't been online. And again, why it's NOT good to have one administrator.

I also agree, while it isn't that bad now, doesn't mean TFF will not be destroyed from within so to speak. There is already a growing sense of 'elitism' on TFF. Not just the 'old posters', but the newer posters that think they're right and everyone else is wrong, and never take back anything they say.

Well there is a reason why I know about it. He did come back... long enough to say what he was doing. Not here, but on MSN.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post about this, but I can't find anywhere better. I'm not sure who would be able to fix the search function, but I figured I'd point out that the temporary replacement (Google search) is completely useless, probably because Google can't find this site.

Invision based forums do not have working search functionality...

Never have to my knowledge.... and since Hawk is not actively in the forums, even if they did, it likely would not get activated here.
