Just for clarification, lurkers are safe from any possible purges right? Kinda got me a little worried there.

You will be fine. The chances of lurkers being deleted is close to zero. Hawk would have to be really really wasted to do that.

Sweet, I'll just make my way back to my little cave now.

BukkakeNoJutsu mentioned TFF in one of his chapters of Lessons of Experience.

So I checked it out, decided to write Popping Your Collar.

So, I joined TFF in September 2007. I'm pretty sure it was my second or third forum/website I'd joined. I probably got here because TFF or a fic from TFF was reccommended on a website, or I got here by following a link from a Fanfiction.Net profile.

Checking my Fanfiction.Net account... my profile says it was made in March of 2007. (Also, I was an enthusiastic Terry Goodkind fan. Heh.)

So yeah, probably from FFN. Maybe Loki Nishizaki's stories were how I got here. He's got a link to TFF in his profile, but it's been updated in 2009... but maybe the link was also there in 2007.

Also, on a related note... did FFN only start keeping track of things on 2008? Looking at "date added to Favorite authors/stories" there's nothing before 2008, and the ones that should be before are just dated as 00-00-0000. Surprisingly it shows me reviews I left in 2007. Go figure.

So its a 50/50 chance then?

He'd have to be really wasted AND really bored to do it.

And I don't mean bored like "Oh god I'm so bored".

I mean bored like "My only form of entertainment for the past three weeks has been this blank wall, I'm about to have a fucking heart attack I'm so bored!"

Forum software doesn't come with the sort of smart banhammer tool you'd need to do a blanket "Cull The Meek/Lurkers" move that someone or other is suggesting.

Which means he'd have to go delete all of the accounts manually.

Something like what? 8000 of them?

Which is exactly why Hawk would never do it. WAY too much work. A god he may be, but even gods are lazy most of the time.

Bah... you guys are not taking into account normally those types of procedures can be automated, either through turning the delete pages into a series of automated forms, or by 3rd party scripting, or other methods.

Still leaves the issue of just because he *can* do a thing, does not mean he *will* do a thing.

I did but both of those things would require Hawk know how to do them and be sober enough to be capable of doing so. And if he's sober enough to actually do it, he's not drunk enough to give a shit.

Sort of a catch-22.

Of course even those work-around methods would be godawful compared to what you could do if you actually hosted the forum yourself. You wouldn't have to jump through all of these intricately half-assed hoops from hell to give the script the ability to search through the forum registry, identify post counts then use Hawk's administrative powers to delete the accounts, and could just gut the database directly.

You gotta remember that this is an Invisionfree board. Hawk really doesn't have access to the nuts and bolts.

I came here because cjonbloodletter added one of my fics to his favourites. I like to investigate my readers so I went to his profile and found the full length version of Nugar's CED rant posted on his profile.

I thought it was awesome so I went and joined TFF just to see what else you guys could concoct. It has been a very amusing few months.
Holy shit. Epic rant is epic :sisi:
I checked it out ... I feel dirty now having read CED ...

Well, as for why I joined ... I totally wanted the suite of Master Nin past chapter 7 ... I knew there were next chapters somewhere from reviews by people from TFF.
So I followed the trail : ff.net => hawk homepage => TFF ...
I joined at the moment where Hawk kinda removed the need to ask him for authorization for the Lemon Forum and it was a Go
And yeah, I'm pretty happy 'cause if I wanted to join like ... now ... well I wouldn't be able to ... and one of these days when I will stop being ashamed ( and afraid of zeebee ) maybe I'll post my future fic :snigger: ... 'cause it's kinda the objective of this forum I guess ; to help future author ... I hope

You should go read Lord Raine Does Chunin Exam Day

LR MST's the ENTIRE fic.

It is glorious.

I came here because of how much of a hardon I got from Hawk's MasterNin and I wanted moar. I hope he goes back to work on that fic one day.

Fosfor's Reload for me, which is kind of funny since I've more or less gone off his stuff since them.

Hey, Hawk.

You gave Ero-Sennin his posting privileges back, right? It has been past the 30 day suspension you gave him.

Quick question, Hawk.

If I give you my IP address, can you check it against some sort of list to see if I've been IP banned? Because I'm getting really tired of using proxies. It's actually fucking with my computer at this point.

Especially now that Hawk has retreated back into whatever dimension he's from.

You might be better off just getting a new IP.
And I have no idea how the hell I'm supposed to do this. I thought that was impossible. Or rather, I thought that's what I was already doing.

Call your ISP and ask, they'd know better then I. They can probably do it for you.
