Okay this is basically a dumping ground for stuff that pops into my head that doesn't fit into a proper story yet so I can get it down to either work on it or remind myself of it later. Comments and criticisms for whatever I put here are always welcome.
It looked for all the world like any two women sitting down to have tea at a nice tea house in Bird Country. Neither seemed remarkable with their plain brown hair and eyes. At least, they seemed unremarkable to the untrained eye.
"You said you needed to speak as soon as possible in your message, Konan-chan. What was so important that we had to meet in person like this with no warning?" one of the women asked her compatriot.
"It is important, Kushina-neechan. More important than you would believe. It concerns... family," Konan replied.
Uzumaki Kushina looked into Konan's eyes for several moments, trying to gauge the seriousness of the look in the face of the woman who looked to her late husband, Namikaze Minato, as a brother. After another sip of her tea she finally asked, "Well if it was Nagato-kun you wouldn't be this worked up since you're there with him minding things, so what did Jiraiya-san do THIS time that might upset things?" the woman asked with a weary sigh.
"It isn't otou- I mean Jiraiya either," Konan explained.
Kushina smiled kindly as she replied, "It's okay to call him father, Konan-chan. He DID raiser the three of you and Minato. He's as much family to you as I am." After a moment to let that sink in, she continued. "But if not the Old Pervert, then whom? Has Kakashi-kun managed to cause trouble? Or is it... Obito-kun?" she asked. She refused to call the boy "Tobi." It didn't matter how he was returned to them, he was still Obito to her.
"Well Tobi is still having delusions of being Madara from time to time since he developed the next level of his bloodline. And it's getting harder to control him as well. I think he could defeat Nagato at this point in a fair fight. His dedication to improving himself is inhuman," Konan conceded. "But he isn't the reason I contacted you either," she added with growing apprehension.
Kushina looked confused at that. The only others Konan could even call family by proxy would be Orochimaru or Tsunade. Everyone esle that mattered to them, such as Minato, Rin, and Kushina's son had been dead for years. Naruto-kun would be halfway through the Academy at this point. Assuming he didn't graduate early with he likes of Minato-kun and Jiraiya-san tutoring him. Not to mention my own skills, the heir to the long destroyed nation of Whirlpool mused to herself as she tried to keep the pain of thinking of her lost husband and son back once again until she could grieve in private. To distract herself she asked, "Then who?"
"Neechan, I want you to promise me you'll control yourself. We're in public and we need to maintain decorum," Konan stalled nervously.
"Konan-chan, you're scaring me. What is it? What is this about?" Kushina asked with furrowed brows.
The younger of the two women swallowed a bit as she composed herself and reported, "As you know we've been planning to capture the bijuu and their containers for those that are contained as part of some of our more... esoteric long term plans," Konan began.
"Konan-chan, I started the organization as a way to make certain what happened to our family could never happen again. I know this. Now why did you call me here? It wasn't to go over ancient history," Kushina prodded.
"We learned today for the first time what the name for the container of the Kyuubi is, Kushina-sama. It's... Uzumaki Naruto," Konan finally reported.
Kushina was stunned as she sat there for several moment without making a sound. "No. It can't be. They said he died. The medics told me he was killed. That's... where did you get this information?" Kushina whispered.
"One of Oro-jisan's spies in Konoha, an Academy teacher, confirmed it. He's seen the boy himself. He'll have him in his class for his last year," Konan explained.
"But. Why? Why didn't Sarutobi stop me from leaving? Did Jiraiya know? Did Tsunade?" Kushina demanded.
Konan shook her head as she replied, "I don't know about the Sandaime Hokage's reasons. I could guess but that's all. Jiraiya and Tsunade haven't been in the village since the attack. Tsunade left before it, and Jiraiya left just after Minato-niisan's funeral. I don't think either of them knew. Although Nagato thinks Jiraiya should have known. He's... not taking it well, Konan reported.
Kushina nodded in understanding even as a single thought began to galvanize in her mind, You best hope my son is happy when I come to claim him Sarutobi. I swear Konoha will cry a river of blood for each tear he's shed without me there to comfort him, old man. You had no right. NO RIGHT!
"We'd best find Nagato-kun and Obito-kun, Konan-chan. We have planning to do," Kushina finally declared with an icy calm the seemed to make all around her want to shiver as she laid some money on the table for their drinks and stood up.
Konan knew better than to argue as she hastened after the older woman and followed her onto the street. It may take years, but Konan knew there would be a reckoning for this. In Konan's mind it was a long time coming.
