Ranma ½ Random Thought. Could Akane be cursed?

I was bored during work and had an odd thought...

Akane was nearly drowned in Jusenkyo to create a spring that could turn others into her. She didn't die but the pool was created... so is she cursed to turn into herself? I mean it's silly to think of at base but what if years down the line she ends up turning into her teenage self whenever she is splashed with water, kinda like the theory that Ranma's curse is spring of the young girl and thus his cursed form will stop aging at some point. It's an interesting thought at least.

I don't think there is any evidence for Jusenkyou having a delayed effect mechanism in the curses; if Akane were going to be effected by cold water after being drowned at Jusenkyou it should have shown itself immediately. It didn't, thus logically she is in the clear.

Seen this before; in every instance it ended up with Ranma being permanently female when his male body died of old age. Boring and uncreative.

I've seen one variation on it that was interesting. since it is known the two forms share interactions (damage to one occurs to other). The writer took the approach that the male body ages normally, *but* if changed into the teenage girl form the male form starts to de-age back to that same age. He actually was running around like a madman each time changed in attempt to get back to being male as fast as was possible.

But if the curse was to turn into herself (as she is right now at least) how would it be immediately apparent if she was cursed? lack of water magnet?

The "water magnet" business is a fanon explanation applied after-the-fact. I'm pretty sure it's shown that the curses age and change with time though, so if she is truly cursed to turn into herself when splashed, that means it is an effect which has no effect.

Where would this lead anyway? Immortality? Unlikely in the extreme even as a thought.

we don;t really have any proof one way or another that they age and change... Ranma 1/2's storyline is very dubious on the passage of time as it is. I mean there's things like spring of the drowned child and such which would be very obvious if the person started to grow but we have no given time frame from when happy's old friend picked up that curse.... I mean logically you'd say of course they'd age... but magic rarely work on logic in Ranma 1/2. Most are very chaotic and unreliable.

As for the point of this... Just the passing thought of story years later where both Ranma and Akane (no adults) change into teens when splashed... or when someone tries to curse Akane it would instead 'mix' with her Akane curse instead of giving her a proper curse.

it's not something to build a fic around I don't think. Just an odd quirk that could be added to a continuation or future fic.

I'm almost sure that I saw a panel where an infant Pansuto Taro turned into a very small version of his monster form, and we know that the adult or teenage Taro turns into a much larger monster. This is before the addition of the octopus tentacles; I'm talking about the original monster he turned into.

That's fairly compelling evidence right there. Edit: Found it
