Ranma/Negima! crossover

#1
First Challenge:
-Obviously a Ranma 1/2 & Negima! crossover.
-The old woman who snapped Ranma back to sanity from the Nekoken was a mage.
-You can make Ranma become a mage or perhaps become a partner.
-Ranma will still have to travel with his father.
-Ranma will still have the curse.
-How will the NWC react to this "foul sorcerer"?

Second Challenge:
-Ranma 1/2 & Negima! crossover.
-After the failed wedding.
-Ranma's quest towards to cure his curse led him to learning real magic.
-Ranma will not be able to cure the curse. (Magic of the curse is too chaotic)
-Discourage at wasting years of his time for nothing traveled all over the world.
-Joined AAA but they became fed up of him, even with his 100% successful mission cause mass property damage and stampede, assigned him where he will not cause trouble. In year 2001 they assigned him in Mahora Academy as a TEACHER!?
-Negi will now reach Japan, how will things be different with two people in Mahora with a penchant for chaos?

Eh...not liking Negima really hurts my interest in these ideas but I'll say that without that prejudice, the second idea is more interesting, I think.

Anime Addventures are cute, but don't really qualify as real fics. The idea was great when it started with Kunou's Excellent Adventure, but the new wiki style format doesn't do anything for me.

the first idea would be interesting, I wonder how it could work. Perhaps the old woman freezes Genma in time and sends Ranma off to Wales to study magic for a year. He graduates and his diploma says "Finish your martial arts training". however it works, he gets back on the road with Genma, and the old man knows nothing about Ranma's newfound powers. over the next few years, Ranma's martial and magical arts both increase, but his magic falls behind, as he doesn't have a teacher for it, and has to practice in secret. can you imagine his sneezing shampoo off the log? or perhaps blowing the bathroom door off it's hinges after Akane catches him in the bath? there could be a lot of comedy inherent in this idea. and of course, one of the fiancees or all of them will eventually find out about magic and demand pactios in order to help ranma defeat some great threat. you could even write in Asuna as yet another fiancee. She would fit in fairly well with the rest of the cast.

The second idea is slightly less interesting to me, as it would mainly have to involve Ranma stealing some of the spotlight from Negi or possibly working in the background to make sure things work out well for the young man. If he wa a more mentor type figure for Negi, it could be good, perhaps he simply replaces Takahata-sensei? of course this leads to things like did Ranma travel with Nagi and co? What is his relationship with Evangeline? and how does he handle Asuna's crush after all the girl trouble he's had? And does he have a partner? one of the fiancees other girls from Ranma, one of the girls from 3A (bad Ranma)?

what does AAA have to do with anything? they don't like the way Ranma fixes flat tires?

Pardon me for the bluntness, but either back that statement up, or fuck off.

Okay, the open ended format is prone to hijacking by whatever meme is popular from moment to moment, the original author has little to no control over the story, and many authors just use addventures as dumping grounds for story ideas they don't want to bother developing beyond a single chapter/prolog.

I'm not downing on the format. Community writing projects can be fun, but mainly only for those involved in them. They are usually not all that good to read as fiction/literature. As such, they don't have much appeal to me, and I don't regard them as being equal to a well-written single author story.

And there you have it, statement backed up.

You've backed up nothing, because your "points" are the entire frickin' base of how the Addventure works, and they ignore the many ways to get around hijacks. I can see your point with the BE Addventure and maybe the Maximum Addventure, but the Anime Addventure (the one called "Anime Addventure) is very carefully watched by a moderating team that keeps it almost completely free of crap. Yeah, some sneaks through, but it usually gets deleted quickly. The problem is the oldest episodes at the root of all the chains can't be deleted without killing every link on the site. And a lot of the old episodes were bad because the place wasn't nearly as strict.

I'm sorry for being rude, but the Anime Addventure is one of my favorite sites and it has a lot of great threads/stories which aren't available anywhere else.

So enjoy them. I don't. You're getting angry over a difference of opinion. You like the format, I don't. I'm not going to apologize for my preference. I like the consistent vision of one writer or a group of collaborating writers over a group mishmash story that changes as it goes. As such, I personally don't enjoy reading addventures, and consider them inferior. I'm sure there's some good writing going on in there somewhere, I just don't choose to dig through and look for it. At no point did I say they were bad, or that people who write/read them are smelly or something.

Now you can respect my opinion and go on with your day or you can continue attacking me for not loving your favorite site. I'm good with either.

First off, Ranma as a magically gifted teacher has been done, or at least started before.

(Hint, it's by that hack that unleashed Jusenkyo Man on an unsuspecting world)

Secondly, I have to say that Addventure fics aren't "proper" fics in that there are no definitive endings like say Doctor's Orders had.

However, there are some excellent threads there, and I do check several times a day to see if anything I've been reading has been updated.

How they branch off in a totally random way can be great, however, certain threads can become Fanfictionstein's Monsters when people decide to bring in multiple crossovers that aren't necessary.

I know that this isn't all threads, and I'm thankful for that fact.

I have tried to write a thread for it, but for some reason, I can't write Addventure content. I don't know why.

Yeah. I have that 'ignore' list too. Not in reality like in this forum, but just... yeah.

Looking at the first version of the challenge, perhaps something can be done with Mana -- the mage she's contracted with is a bit vague at this point...
