Here's a short teaser to whet your appetite. :snigger:

--------

I am the Watcher.

Throughout countless aeons, I have observed the rise and fall of life in the Solar System. I was already old when the great Moon Kingdom fell, and I will still be there when the last vestige of life leaves this planet called Earth, whose inhabitants so fascinate me.

Today, I would tell you a story.

I am certain that you all know how Ranma Saotome and his father Genma traveled all over Japan and China, training hard in order to shape Ranma into the best, if poorly educated, martial artist of his generation.

But, is this truly the only possible outcome? As some of you may know, there are countless realities and countless possible futures, depending on what choices are made at key points in one's life. Human scientists have come to call this chain of causality the 'Butterfly Effect'.

This story deals with one such alternate future, one where young Ranma's travels brought him much farther away from home than we all know. Onwe where Ranma, through chance - or perhaps fate - traveled all the way to a small European country named Latveria, where his life would forever be changed.

Come, let us watch together as this story unfolds.

Let us watch the life of Ranma Saotome... and his transformation into Ranma von Doom, chosen heir of Victor von Doom, ruler of Latveria and master of mystical arts.

You may just find this story interesting...

--------

FYI, the Watcher only appears there, and in the ending, maybe. I do not plan to have him show up anywhere else.

Intresting idea. Which Doctor Doom is playing the role of Ranma's father?

Canon one. Doom 2099 is in the far future, and Ultimate Doom, or Victor Van Damme, does not impress me much.

Although, in Ultimate Doom's defense, he apparently is the strongest Ultimate character there is. When that parasite was looking for the strongest host available, it completely bypassed Ultimate Thor and went straight for Doom.

Whoops.. should have been more clear, I meant more around what Doom's character given that depending on the author he's gone from someone you have to respect to the average cardboard villain.

Oh, that. -_- I'm not a fan of cardboard villains, so as you ca guess, I am going to use his 'grey' version... not properly evil, but not a nice person by any stretch of the imagination.

I really liked the version of Doom that they used in the early 80's, like in Iron Man 200, where he went back to Camelot and met Morgaine LeFay. That series of stories and some of the others is where we learned a lot more about Doom's mother, and what he did and does to try and save her each year. I also loved the graphic novel from the 80's where Doom won in his plans for world domination  , only to find out that winning isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I am looking forward to where this goes, and what may happen when Doom decides to pay a visit to his best student, I hope.

I'm reminded of the one description of Doom I heard that sticks in my mind.

He's a dictator who rules Latveria with an iron fist - literally - but he rules his subjects justly. Similarly, if you cross him, he's a dangerous and ruthless enemy, but also an honorable one.

That about sums Doom up. He also seems to have a soft side for pleading women, given how he once could have killed Reed, but didn't because Sue begged him.

Just don't forget that Ranma / Doom argument we had about what should be done with Kasumi...

But I hope to see more soon.

I don't have a lot of knowledge of the FF4 characters, merely some remembrance of them from comics I collected in the 80's (and also their appearance in the Silver Surfer comics and others). Still, I think this sounds like a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing where it goes. B)

I do have a question though. I'm assuming this is a fusion, but what will the ratio of the background be for the duration of the story? In other words, how much of it will take place in Japan with the other Ranma characters, and how much will take place in Latveria and wherever the heck the FF4 are based? I'm just trying to get an idea of who all will be involved.

Best,
~JohnnyG

It will pretty much all take place in Nerima, with occasional scene skips to Latveria. You don't think Doom would let his prize pupil go without keeping an eye on him, do you?

Nope. Never figured that at all. I figured that if Ranma was in Nerima, that Doom would either be there with him, or in constant contact.

Hmm, would it be possible to see some Doom-bots in his future, or Ranma-bots? I wonder if Ranma will go the route of having his personalized face mask made, with matching armor? Actually got an idea of a drawing of that I'd like to do now, maybe work on it tonight.

Heh, just imagine if Ranma decides to launch a building into space, ala the Baxter building's space flight. Hmm, the Tendo dojo in orbit, now that'd be pretty cool. :D

If you do draw Ranma von Doom, please let me see. I'd be delighted to make it the 'official' art. :p

LOL! Smart-ass. You're right though, I should've used F4. FF4 would translate into "Fantastic Four 4". Hello, please connect me to the Department of Redundancy Department. :headbanger:

Now that'd be cool. Only... Would Doom allow his apprentice such a thing, before he comes fully into himself? Perhaps minor ones, a la Washu?

I can see it now, Ranma in a dramatic pose with his cloak billowing out behind him... Facing some horrible opponent, standing in a nearly equally dramatic pose.

"Foul cretin. You cannot win against me! I am Ranma van Doom, the worlds greatest magical martial science artist!" Ranma proudly announced, slamming an armoured gauntlet against his chest.

"Ranma-chan is the greatest!" a chibi-Ranma-bot proclaimed, standing on Ranma's right shoulder.

"Ranma-chan is the coolest!" another chibi-Ranma-bot announced from his left shoulder, both of them pumping their tiny fists into the air.

"... ... I told you guys already... Doctor Ranma-sama! Or if you absolutely have to, Ranma-san or even Ranma-kun. NOT RANMA-CHAN!" Ranma growled out to his tiny little Ranma-bots, with his eyelids twitching like there was no tomorrow.

I don't know why, but that mental image is making me giggle uncontrollably...

:mmm: :yay: :D

Now that is made of WIN! Would love to see some CB Ranma-bots, maybe they could sort of be like Chachazero from Negima, in that they're out for blood, and are dissappointed when they don't get or see any. Here's hoping that things for this Ranma will go insane at a steadier pace, rather than the hurly-burly of his canon self. But by gosh, if Nodoka doesn't find Ranma aman among men now, then maybe she needs to hook up with another man aside from Genma. Mrs. Von Doom anyone? ;)

I'm damn certain I asked a couple of these over AIM before but my complete lack of recall is making me unsure:

Is Ranma still gonna wind up visitin jusenkyo? And if so will it be because he was scouting the area to perhaps take over and/or study the Pools of Sorrow and it's only through Genma's stupidity (again) that he gets cursed?

Will the Fantastic 4 be making any apperances or anyone from the comics if not them? And how canon will the rest of the Ranma cast be; will they all be the same but change when around Doom!Ranma or will there already be deviations?

Ranma should have two robot assistants. One should be a psychopath and the other should be a pervert.

That would increase the comedy, in my opinion

He'll still pass through Jusenkyou and get cursed, and in the meanwhile he may start a takeover of the Amazon tribe.

What would be the easiest group to take over in the area? Phoniex, Musk or Amazon? What are the strengths, weaknesses and such?
