Oh my god this is so hilarious. I just got to the point where Neji accidentally shaved Tsunade's hair off. Yes, that is the kind of ridiculous shit that happens constantly in this manga. I fucking love it!

I'm kind of wondering what is up with all the evil Takigakure ninja though? Aren't they allied with Konoha? Or was that only in the anime?

Likely just the anime. All we know about that village is that they have a jinchuuriki, they sent Kakuzu to kill Hashirama at one point and they have never successfully been invaded.

They did have genin teams at the Chuunin exam, and I'm pretty sure only genin from allied villages are allowed to participate. Admittedly two other villages at the exam were secretly planning to invade Konoha so it's not strong evidence, but Sand and Sound were technically allies on paper up until they betrayed Konoha, so Takigakure probably is also technically allied with Konoha unless something changed during the timeskip.

Oh, you're right. Looking back, Hiruzen specifically says that it occurs between allied countries which I never noticed before.

In this case I'd just assume that the writers aren't that bothered on whether Takigakure shinobi would be actual enemies or not. They just used a recognisable symbol. Or they could just be missing-nin since Zabuza kept his headband.

It's been said before, but Konoha has some really shitty security. Enemy ninja walk around he village in broad daylight and it's almost as if they have a base of operations.
