I finally finalized my concept for Ranma VS. Usagi discussed in the Ranma 1/2 Ideas thread, worked out the nitty gritty details and unanswered questions, and here we are.
Details of the Ranma Vs. Usagi challenge:
Ranma wakes up one day to find things in his world are drastically different. Some of his family has disappeared, most of his friends are gone, certain buildings he's familiar with are slightly or totally different, some never having existed, the layout of Tokyo has changed a little, too... something has gone very wrong with the world.
Tsukino Usagi is just fine. Everything is going dandy; no more monsters after Galaxia's attack, Crystal Tokyo seems to be the definite future. However, Setsuna comes with news of extreme temporal displacement, as a result of someone else's meddling through time. She can't detect any adverse effects from the time meddling, but a strange chaos nexus has appeared in Nerima-ku.
Ranma is contacted by someone else who was from his universe; Herb. Herb comes with disturbing news; that the world has been vastly altered by someone else's trip back through time. Only some of the most powerful individuals, and those who had some other form or protection from Ranmas' world survived, including Ranma, Herb, Saffron, and others. Both Herb and Saffron have been robbed of their entire nations, however, and they are willing to work with Ranma to get it back. Saffron's ancient but slightly off knowledge of the past tells him of several ways to get to the past to fix their problem, but when Setsuna sees their activities, and that if they succeed, the senshi will have never even been revived, things start to get out of hand...
The writer can choose any other Ranma canon characters to use from the main cast, but I want to limit it to four. I'll be doing this story too, if I can, so my example cast is Ryouga, Mousse, Genma, and Happosai. Any pairings you want(if applicable), the story can have any conclusion, of course.
Details of the The insanely awkward misadventures of Genma and Ranma (Shortened to "Genma & Ranma" for aesthetic purposes) challenge:
ôYouÆve all heard of that supposed æTraining TripÆ that pop took me on a while back à As if ya could call it a Training Trip. Listen, most of that so-called æTraining tripÆ was just pop anÆ me, trying to keep our asses intact. As most of you know, IÆm the worldÆs greatest martial-artist, and there ainÆt nothinÆ in the world thatÆs ever gonna change that. IÆve had tons of weird misadventures and fought all kinds of weirdoes since I started living with the Tendos à But none of this comes close to the weirdness that persisted durin popÆs idea of a training trip. The strangest things to have ever happened in my life happened before I met the Tendos, before I fell in that damned Jusenkyo spring, and before I even met Ryoga.ö
I've never seen a 10 year "Training Trip" story. It's definitely pre-manga, and it has to end in a way that can match up with canon. However, I will say this; it is easily possible to work around Ranma's end skill level if you want to make the younger him as strong as you want (I'll let you figure your own ways out). Originally, I had planned to write this myself; maybe for two years already. I haven't done much though, for some reason I can't understand. The many story ideas I've had for this would all fit (A REAL, LEGITIMATELY DANGEROUS AND CREEPY Haunted house, stumbling upon the world of the fairies(maybe humans are either extremely hated, maybe they're dinner, maybe fairies are just very promiscuous...), running into a wacky wandering swordsman who teaches Ranma his twisted but sensible morals, to name a few(These ideas can be used by the way)) It was all to be original and no crossovers, but you can do that if you want. I've toyed with the idea of sending them to the slayers-verse, too.
