Runes of Magic

Yep, you heard me. Except for slight differences in stylization, this game is as close to a World of Warcraft clone as you can get from every clip I've been able to get my hands on.

The most accessible videos are on Youtube here. Take a look for yourself and see what I mean. Some of those shots look like they're straight out of South Shore with gameplay to match. Customization looks like this.

I'd advise a visit to the Runes of Magic (also known Radiant Arcana outside the US) homepage as well as a trip to the FAQs for more detailed information; the latter being well worth your time alone. one of the more notable components in the game is a Dual Class system that allows you to take a primary class and the secondary skills of a second class to augment your own. For example, A rogue/warrior dual class.

All in all, this is looking far more promising than my last try of Perfect World (which just fails on too many levels to remain on my HDD)

You know, my main problem with these really detailed F2P games is that I never have any reassurance of whether they won't suddenly disappear or become pay to play, and that really, really annoys me.

OTOH, I might try this out. The idea of playing as a swordslinging Warrior Mage with the dual class system has a lot of appeal.

Not bad, not bad. There are some nice ideas in here. There are also some ideas that need alteration.

Instead of the WoW one race, one class system, there is only one race, but you are allowed 2 classes.

This is not quite the Guild Wars system; your classes have separate levels, and you can only get experience to one of the classes at a time. If your level in one class equals the level requirement of a general skill in your other class you have access to that skill, given that the class you are borrowing the skill from also has access to it.

Example: A level 15 rouge can duel wield. If your other class is level 14 Warrior he cannot duel wield, at least not until you raise the warrior half of your character to level 15. If the rouge was only 14 it wouldn't matter how high the warrior's level was, no duel wielding until the rouge class has the skill.

Each class combination has a small number of unique skills available at specific levels.

Crafting is almost exactly the WoW system. Leather Working was folded into Tailoring and Black Smithing. Cloth materials were dropped entirely, as was fishing as a skill. Wood was added to the list of materials and is gathered exactly like minerals and herbs. There is no restriction on the crafting skills, you can learn them all, on the other hand the ranks raise VERY slowly in some cases, by the time you can make something you WILL have better. (Hopefully something that will be rebalanced soon.)

There is also some major flaws in the mage class as it is. An entire branch of mage spells require one other spell's side-effect to be active before they can be cast; and effect that only occurs 30% of the time! Also another mage skill is a fairly powerful attack skill, but it dispels your armor buff spell as a requirement.

I play this game. I enjoy it. I really do. My only real problem with it is that, in order to get pretty much ANYTHING, you need diamonds, which you buy. No permanent mounts. Unless I can shell out twenty bucks, which I can't for two months, it would cost well over two million gold to get the required diamonds from the Auction House.

My guild, Divine, also has issues with another guild. Considering my guild is newly reformed, we are not ready to settle the issues through war. So I could not hunt down and kill the priest that was slandering my guild.

In case anyone wondered, the guild is called Twistedsanity.

Oh, and my hobby is to kill crowned monsters. I've got the Wolf and Bear kings under my belt right now.
