Sailor Moon SI Discussion Thread

Well, as of May 11th, we have at least eight TFFers who are definitely participating in the Sailor Moon SI Challenge fic. By that I mean eight TFFers who have participated in the main storyline:

David Alan Abramczyk, SoulGriever13, Epsilon, Drakensis, DhampyrX2, The_EroSennin, windfalcon and myself. I also owe a big thanks to SeiyaxUsagi as our resident Sailor Moon expert, and to Fanboyimus Prime for showing how not to write a self insert.

The first story arc is complete, and will be cleaned up and edited into a full-length fic when I find the time. In the meantime though, we're already working on the second story arc. It will be a mix of the canon Sailor Moon with a unique twist, as well as some subplots that will run through this story arc and into the next. It's still in the basic planning stages but I think you will be pleased with the end result.

As for the SIs themselves: Well, the old adage "too many cook spoil the stew" holds very true, and thus I am reluctant to allow too many additional players into the story. At least some of the characters need to remain themselves (though if you'd like to play a certain character as themselves, you are free to ask). So, here's the list of characters who have been claimed:

Dr. Tomoe

Here is the list of characters who are strictly off-limits for Self-insertion:

Sailor Venus
Sailor Mercury
Sailor Uranus

Kunzite
Naru Osaka
Beryl
Titus

And there are at least two original characters involved in these shenanigans:

Demon Talon
Windfalcon


While this remains a crossover fic, the same rule for cooks and SIs also holds true for crossovers. Therefore, any crossover element will have to be checked out and agreed to by me. However, at least two series are most definitely in this story:

Ranma 1/2
Love Hina

Though keep in mind that this is 1991 and therefore, the Love Hina characters are all at least 7 years younger than portrayed in the first volume of that manga.

So, by all means, ask questions, submit ideas or request to be inserted or take control of different characters. If you can come up with a way to crossover a character into this story, then don't be shy about it! You won't know if it can work until you let me see it.

So, by all means, let the discussion begin.

Well, I for one have been kicking around an idea involving Titus:

A sort of sub-arc where she and Tuxedo Kamen keep encountering each other, having a scuffle, and then breaking it of, sorta like Inspector Zenigata vs. Lupin the 3rd, but with elements of Catwoman and Batman thrown in for good measure.

Griever and I have plans for the DD Girls that will probably kill them off.

Cyprine/Ptilol is someone I also have plans for, but she's likely to survive them and will probably be open for a Self-Insert (or just general abuse) by anyone else after the next arc.

My current thinking for Sailor Jupiter in this arc start with a caper, and hopefully end up setting in motion forces of destruction to be faced in a future arc.

I'm not planning any actual crossovers, but some fairly deliberate homage to Exalted, Nanoha and Robotech. I should point out that despite that list, I have no immediate plans to destroy Tokyo.

I seriously think you should exclude the Boss villains (Metallia, Pharaoh 90, Chaos and Death Phantom) excluding maybe Nehellenia on the insert list.

Edit: Exclude Galaxia too. She's too broken to be a insert.

If possible, I would take Tatewaki Kuno, but I will have to catch up on the story so far, to see what changes would have to be made to my ideas.

If possible, I'd like to lay claim to Ukyo Kuonji, and would also like to know when the first arc will be cleaned up and organized.

So far, just Tsuruko is off limits, but given that everyone in Love Hina is 7 years younger than they were in canon, you might want to stick to Ranma.

As for them, well, nobody so far is off limits aside from Happosai, Cologne, Genma (I want to make him suffer), Ranma and Kasumi. So, go for it!

I just read the through the original thread last night and want to thank you all for a good read. Now some things I was thinking about at work today that might be important.

Is it just Love Hina characters or is Negima available as well, though from what I remember of their timeline I can only see Takamichi showing up what with all the students too young and everyone else being busy with the school. For Love Hina the only two who would likely be around are Seta, Haruka, Granny Hina, and Sara's Mom. Not sure what kind of crazieness they would cause but... "Look out for that van!"

What point in the Ranma series is it? Cause that determines how powerful Ranma is and what techniques he has. Will any of the SI's try and get him to unseal the Senkens if he has them? Or get training from Cologne? Happosai might train Mamoru but... well we all know what Happosai's like. I can tell someones already got some plans for him. Heck maybe some recruiting from the defeated like Ryu Kumon or Copycat Ken. Though one thing I would like to see would be someone hitting Mamoru with Instant Jusenkyou Nyanichuan (girl) in a water balloon. :snigger: Is she a pinkette or red head?

Beyond that everything else is up to what the Si's remember I guess. Like the Rainbow crystal holders for example. Or deciding to let more people in on the secret. Like Grandpa Hino for one. Everyone needs an alibi now and again.
I had an idea of an si possesing animals to try and cheer up Hotaru but keep on having them killed by Mistress 9 cause keeping Hotaru miserable makes it easier to posses her. I also had the image of pissing on Kaolinites leg. What I thought it was funny at the time. Not going to do it can't flesh it out more in my head. Though if anyone is wondering there is another animal character present in the show at this time Hercules the huge cat who I think is a Rainbow crystal holder.

Well, Ranma's got a pregnant Kasumi to look after, so yeah, he and she are off limits. Everyone else from the Ranma verse, however, is open. Just ask before posting.

Moving on, do any of find Altalon oddly philanthropic? I mean, a guy who controls demons and kills people, knocks off a bunch of facists, roots out a ton of corrupt politicians, and is actually trying to do the the world a favor? Something's not adding up. This isn't anti-demon racism, or anything, but I think there's more to the situation then there appears. We have an Altalon, but where did he come from? Why does he have these powers? Why does he get to have hot demon babes helping him out? ... Okay, the last question isn't quite as relevant but still...

But in all seriousness, I was hoping to have some fun inserting myself into Ukyo. I suppose we could start up a spin-off thread of sorts, with people taking on the role of certain characters from Ranma 1/2.

Alt-Talon (probably a better name) has his own reasons. I mean, if you can make people dance and sing themselves to death, why not do it to total assholes?

In reality, he's doing all this because he's bored, and when he gets bored of this, he'll go on to doing something else. He's mainly doing this for the lulz, so in that sense he's like an anti-hero/anti-villain version of the Joker.

As for his standing... He's collected the life energy of Tokyo for two whole days, and he's collecting even more energy all over the planet. That's a hefty amount of power in demon terms. Even without his musical syndrome abilities he's a powerful demon in his own right, another thing demons would flock to. And finally, he actually treats his henchmen with respect and doesn't execute them just for making a single mistake. They betray him, he naturally kills them in the most horrific manner he can think of, but as the old saying goes, "dead men can't learn from their mistakes". All this combined made Titus, among other demons, think he was a better employer than Beryl. And he, naturally, takes advantage of this to score. Repeatedly.

He is a demon, after all.

We use the Japanese terms. Senshi, Tuxedo Kamen, etc. Aside from attack names-That's entirely up to you.

A general note:

According to the Sailor Moon RPG and resource book, the events of Sailor Moon take place between March 1992 and January 1993, with Sailor V around isnce some point in 1991.

Working from that, I'm working on the assumption that Sailor Moon, Artemis, Motoki and Tuxedo Mask got replaced late in March and that most of the other Inserts arrived in April. It'd currently be some point in May - canonically about when Rei would originally have become Sailor Mars.

If it becomes at all relevant, this means most of the Senshi (Rei, Haruka and Michiru being the exceptions) have not yet turned fourteen. Usagi's birthday is next, falling in June.
