Plus she's the only one who can quell pushy 11th members, who given their temperament are the most likely to end up there.

Completely unrelated to that, it doesn't necessarily have to be Ichigo that gets the majority of her unusual and aggressive attention. Unohana seems rather fond of both Isane and Hanatarou.

I think the 75 percent mentioned would probably be by her direct influence, not how many people she heals. She oversees most of the major cases, and is directly responsible in taking care and managing 75 percent of the work that takes place, leaving the rest under the direct control of her seated officers. That way it would work. And with her gone, disarray prevails.

Lost paperwork, unfiled health charts, etc.

Byakuryuu pretty much got it. Even if she were dealing with a lot of the patients on her own, more of her personal duties would be overseeing things as the head of a medical ward combined with the normal duties of a captain, like paperwork and whatnot. All that together would really start to add up. And the way I picture her, Unohana probably isn't the type to normally foist duties onto other people if she were able to do them herself.

But that's just how I see it.

BTW: Does anyone else see this as a prime opportunity for 4th Division to gain some revenge against some of the 11th Division?

4th Div. Member:? (Reading a patient chart)? Huh, that's odd.? I could have sworn that this guy was only here with a broken arm and a concussion.? (Glances down at the 11th Div. Patient, who is out cold)? ...Oh well, it's on the report, I guess.? I'll just grab some anesthetics and we'll have that appendix out in no time.

(Two other members giggle evily from the shadows)

There a lot of shinigami, and most of them aren't in any division.

Seiretei is a military place. They train warriors.
There will be daily casualties.

Actually I think every Shinigami that isn't in training is in a division. 11th which you would think has the fewest showed a large number in some of Ikakku's flashbacks. It's just that only about five in every division are actually worth acknowledging.

Besides that, 4th division is essentially the hospital, logistics, and cleaning division. If anything cuts into their capabilities such as their captain unable to work who knows what could befall SS in just a week. Be amusing if it turns out the 4th was protecting SS from monsters in the sewers that they forgot about when Unohana got sick.

More House.

"Captain Kyouraku insists that Katen Kyoukatsu is only experiencing normal symptoms of Reiaryoku fluctuation; the channeling streams of the Zanpakutou clearly show this to be the case whenever he fires blast after blast in her sealed form..." Isane flipped the chart as Ichigo continued to play with the rubix cube, apparently giving none of his attention. "Are you even listening to me?"

He didn't look at her.

"You know what I hate about this stupid cube? It's that every time I fail to finish it, I feel like my IQ's dropped six points." he twists it another way, "I bet the bastard who designed this thing liked making other people feel stupid." he frowns as an actor would on stage, "I like him. Find me the inventor of the rubix cube."

"Kurosaki-san, all the tests state there's nothing corrupting Kyoukatsu's streams... it's just another reiryoku fluctuation - !"

"Reiryoku fluctuation doesn't answer a Zanpakutou spirit's inability to come out in material form. It also doesn't answer why Captain Kyouraku's own levels of reiryoku spike enough to damage his own sword whenever he attempts to release her."

He shot the rubix cube in an arc, which swished through the basketball net in the corner, prompting a cheer from the Substitute Captain.

"It'll explain everything better if he just admits he's screwing his own sword."

Isane's eyes widened slightly.

"Are you suggesting he lied to us?" She looked skeptical.

Ichigo didn't.

"Everybody lies."
I'll post more later, I suppose.

I have to wonder; what would have happened to House if instead of those hallucinations he had when he nearly died when he first had the leg infarction, he saw seireitei? Or even if he'd died then?

He'd bring his repetitive, asinine style of drama and humor to Bleach. Which is nothing good.

EDIT: Correction, it's nothing good now.

Ichigo, the alternate doctor to Seireitei. Implausible but it'd be good.

"Hanatarou-kun...?" came the sickly Captain's voice, hoarse from all the medicine she had taken. The Seventh Seated Officer immediately took notice, "How are... Kisuke-san and his crew handling things?" she weakly managed. Hanatarou smiled in reassurance.

He set down the damp towel into the basin, wringing it of any excess.

"Ah, Urahara and the others have taken over the duties quite well, Captain." he placed the towel upon her forehead, "Or, anyway... as well as things can be." he sighed slightly.

It was quiet, for a while as Hanatarou observed his Captain.

"Ichigo-san does things very differently!" the young Medic suddenly exclaimed, to Retsu's mild shock, "He leaves his paperwork all over the desk and insists it's his filing system!"

She twitched.

He leaves a mess?

"And whenever someone comes in for a check up he just disappears if it's his turn! Ishida-san and Yasutora-san have had to fill in for him dozens of times!"

She twitched some more.

He skips clinic hours?

"A - And he speaks very rudely to everyone! I - It's like - like the boss of some delinquent-filled high school!"

Another twitch.

He's shown attitude... to my subordinates?

"B - But that's not the worst part!" Unohana braced herself for Hanatarou's oncoming blow, "Yamamoto-Soutaichou wants to make him part of the Fourth Division's Command Chain!"

Unohana's eyes widened.

Oh no. If Kurosaki-san and his swagger made it through to her delicate division... especially with the Captain-General's approval, there'd be no end to the chaos! She'd have crying nurses, lawsuits of malpractice, broken confidence from the newcomers... not to mention the clinic hours lost! No, no! She was a Healer and she would prevent this... this travesty from taking place. She'd get better and scoot the little rascal away from her lovely Division if it was the last thing she'd do!

"But he did do something good, though!" Hanatarou admitted with a smile.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, he cut down that ugly ginko tree on the front lawn."

Unohana screamed.

What I have to wonder is what exactly Kubo wanted to imply when he decided that the 4th Division was the one responsible for all of the healing.

I mean, given the whole "Four reads as Death" thing, it seems just a bit odd.

Unless you assume that Hanatarou's zanpakutou is representative of the Division as a whole, in that they're nice and kind and totally devoted to healing people right up until the moment they snap and have to choke a bitch.

So figure that Zaraki is going to actively try to make things worse in the hopes of getting a good fight out of Unohana now that she's sick enough to be willing to let the facade slip a bit.

And then she utterly demolishes him. And then she and Yachiru share fizzy drinks and chocolates afterwards, getting increasingly plastered, until the point where the chocolates run out. Whereupon they start riding Minazuki to the far corners of Seireitei in search of more chocolate, interesting drinks, and attractive men.

Of course, Unohana's "flu" is probably just her equivalent of a spiritual limit break after a thousand years of dealing with shit since her last one.

And why not make it so that Isshin was Unohana's Vice Captain (or at least her 3rd or 4th seat) the last time she went on a bender? And part of the reason he quietly faked his own death and left Soul Society is that he knew that her next flu episode was overdue and decided to book it before the catastrophe.

It's the whole irony thing. The death division healing the dead.

"Luck-luck-luck-lucky!"

"Why didn't you tell me the bald one was delirious?" the stubble made itself prominent to Rukia's face, with Ichigo scrunching the lower half of his visage to voice his dissatisfaction with the whole affair, "I would've used a tranquilizer dart instead of an anaesthetic."

"Look, Kurosaki, Madarame's gone kookoo! You got to get him under control!" Shuuhei voiced, flailing his hands wildly, "Do you realise the kind of damage he's capable of?"

"Tranquilizer dart it is." Ichigo rubbed his chin, rounding on Rukia, "Get me one of those African blowpipes. It'll be easier to aim."

"KUROSAKI!" he exclaimed.

"I know what to do, Sixty-Nine. Kinky, by the way."

"Hello my dolly, hello my honey, hello my rag time gaaaaaal!"

"Oh for the love of - Shut UP!" he sent a tired glare to Ikkaku, who promptly silenced himself. "Oh, look. He stopped. Rukia, drag him back to the psychiatric ward."

"But he'll touch me again!"

"Enjoy it. Probably the closest you'll get to sex."

I'll post it over the weekend. I fell in love with House again, so I decided to make this my main focus.
