The Negima Spring and Summer OVAs were just released here in the US, and I thought I'd pick them up.

While watching it was made immediately obvious that Asuna's eyes aren't different colors like they are in the Opening/ending credits and the earlier full series.

I'm at a loss. Was there a reason for this? Other than being cheap in the animation department, that is? The only logical reason I could think of that they'd do it story-wise was once her pact-curse was lifted at the end of the anime series, her eyes must have reverted...

Rumors/theories/facts related to this?

the spring and summer ova's aren't connected to the first series. -_- anime continuity for negima is sketchy at best. It's done by the production company that did the second series of negima, which was a disappointing reboot with no connection to the to the original or the Manga, it was actually given it's own manga, Negima Neo, which to my knowledge flopped.

in Short

Manga, Negima!(first series), Negima?!(second series), and Negima!!(the live action drama) are all different continuities. The spring and summer OVAs were a transition of sorts between series 1 and 2, a changing of the guard. Summer is vaguely connected to the manga plot but goes it's own way and changes some of the characters. Spring ova is an original story with no connection to the manga.

Note - The new set of ova's is thankfully right one with the negima manga... but there's only going to be 3 and they on'y cover the forming of the ala alba which is about 6 chapters way far along 176-182. So if you haven't read up to those chapters in the manga, or only watched the previous animated series you'll be very confused...
