This popped up while re-watching Kenshin where Seta is remembering his childhood. What if at some point in his childhood Harry while visiting the museum accidentally stumbled across a katana that unknown to the anyone else still contained the spirit of its former wielder, Makoto Shishio

Hmm, interesting possibilities, the whole 'sword-possessing-samurai-master-possesses-keitaro' thing has been done before but never with Shishio (to my knowledge) and so it would be very cool to see done.

It sounds potentially interesting, but, I have to ask...and, what?

Harry is possessed by the spirit of Shishio Makoto? What happens after that? What is the *point* of this story base?

Umm... this Harry, not Keitaro.

 Sorta forgot to come back and outline more didn't I.

The main idea was that either that Shishio's desires to conquer Japan and sense of will kept him from fully passing on but being a muggle he was incapable of becoming a ghost and laid dormant inside of Mugenjin until Harry ended up touching the blade by accident, creating a connection between the two of them (and perhaps breaking the one that he shared with Voldemort) or that Shishio actually nearly did manage to carry out his comment of conquering Hell, but was once again betrayed and ended up bound inside of the Mugenjin; anyhow Shishio ends up in the Mugenjin which some how ends up in a British museum where Harry frees/awakens him after accidentally touching the blade.

Shishio ability wise is somewhat similar to a Shaman King ghost as can only seen by the psychic/spiritually aware and is capable of fusing with Harry during which the two possess all of the abilities that Shishio had in life (and perhaps the ability to control hellfire for the second option). On the other hand he is incapable of actually possessing Harry without his consent, is unable to go a certain distance from the Mugenjin, and actually needs Harry to 'feed' him magic through their connection in order to keep from being re-imprisoned within the Mugenjin.

Shishio then spends the next several years installing his own beliefs and morals into a young Harry to the point that when his Hogwarts letter arrives, Harry already knows everything that the Dursleys' know about his parents and the wizarding world and the Dursleys themselves either live in mortal terror of the boy or already died some time before.

Goal wise it somewhat depends; option one's Shishio's goal would still be to conquer Japan (and possibly search out any users of Hiten Mitsurugi-Ry? to settle his battle with Kenshin), while Harry's would be to transform Britain back into a world power. While option two's Shishio would be far more interested into getting back to hell to carry on his goal of conquering it, Harry's goal would more or less still be the same but he'd probably be far more interested in the truly darker magics.

Oops, sorry, slip of the fingers, but I like the idea, Harry being 'brought up' by some evil entity is always high on my list of favorites. If it is done I'll be looking forward to it.

Here's a thought:

When voldemort tried to kill Harry he also unknowingly transfered a copy of his conscience to the infant. Years later when Harry first meets Voldie that conscience is awakened.

This Voldie exists only in Harry's thoughts and is unable to take over, also he'll be fully independent from the original Voldie, and will have very divergent interests. Who knows maybe he'll decide from boredom to prepare a better dark lord.

Wouldn't it make Harry a Horocrux ? Because the first thing that get to my mind when you said that is the possessed diary...
