Anyone else still following this?
It still remains pretty interesting, but I get the feeling that the mangaka is falling into her old trap of Zero plot progression.
Give it time. Bleach hadn't started really going with its plot by Chapter 16, either, you know. ;)

EDIT: Besides, this might be the start of the "Rescue Rinne" arc. ;)

Considering that people have been plagerizing Takahashi's works for a while, like Ken Akamatsu and Kou Fumizuki, with Kou trumping Ken on the fact that his main girl and female cast were better(likable) characters, and Inoue Kazurou ripping off Ken to create a more slapstick comedy approach by actually having the main guy be a perverted fetishist and adding more slice of life scenes and serious issues that adds a bit more realism, it shouldn't surprise me that also could see if she could get away with it too. But I figured she'd have a personal vendetta against Akamatsu for ripping off her too much.

Too bad she didn't try her hand at a new serious horror theme manga like the Mermaid Saga, which is my favourite Takhashi story.

Hell, you could describe "Ga-Rei" this way, and that's literally the first manga that came to mind as "kinda similar".
When I first read CHapters 1,2 of Ga-Rei I thought back to reading this read and since this had been awhile, I thought that it must have been what people had been talking about here.

the drawing style is (odd for some reason I wrote keeps loops instead of is) pretty new and then there are moments when I think... "Am I reading Ranma? NO WAIT! its different!"

Takahashi isn't overly fond of change.
It may seem that way.

I always loved the way Takahashi satirized martial arts genre manga and anime in Ranma 1/2, through all those crazy and absurd schools she cooked up.

LOL.

"I'm not going to address that criticism, allow me to distract you with why I fap to Ranma instead."

Oh Takahashi fans, you silly.

I never said I liked Takahashi's lack of change.

I didn't either, if you want to know that.

Me, I'm hoping for Takahashi in the future making a new horror theme manga on par with her Mermaid Saga.

Because when it comes to the stuff that makes her the most money she's a hack.

Can't that be applied to most manga writers like Akamatsu?

But I can agree that drawing out Inu-Yasha was a mistake, and that can be used as an argument for that she wanted to rake in the most she could from Inu-Yasha.

While it did make her a fortune, I have doubts that it was her decision to make.
