TFF Webcomic?

Something that got kicked around while ago, but never really got of the ground, probably because it spawned by sidetracking the mother thread. I figured it would be better to just create its own thread so it could be discussed at length.

Right now, this is just to determine interest in making/reading the webcomic, as well as a place to bounce ideas around. I've got a couple, but I'd like to see interest levels first, and let the creative juices flow and see what else pops up before sharing them.

Oh, shit, I forgot I was supposed to be helping with this!

Finally! My summer has been boring as hell. (Thanks, Zero!)

Well, I'd love to bounce around some ideas for it. I mean, I can't draw but I can sure as hell write.

So, what would the comic be about? Us? The TFFers in general? Perhaps having adventures in the in-between place between our universe and the universes of the fandoms we populate?

I kinda wish we had a TFF webcomic.á With the number of deviant minds, it wouldn't be hard to create a decent number of one shots, and I'm sure there are at least a few artists hiding around here somewhere...
Do you have a premise? Or would it attempt to capture the day-to-day ramblings and perversions of the Hivemind?

Would you be willing to pay commission for it? (I suck at visual art BTW.)

How far would you be willing to go to see that it gets off the ground? Would you keep it running?

<s>Who would the target audience be?</s> (Forget I asked.)
No real premise, mostly just a random collection of the wierdness that happens around here. Maybe set it in Zeni's RPG world.

This was an idle thought, and I'm not willing to invest money into it. Maybe once I get a job, but probably not.

Wouldn't put too much effort into it, sicne it was an idle thought, and I doubt that it would make much money from ads.

Target audience, besides TFF, would probably be other fanfic writers/gamers.

Maybe we would have two 'themes'.

One 'discussion' which is actually, you know, talking. Day to day goings on at the board, LR's latest rant of DOOM ?, arguing about weird concepts, that treatise on DnD allignments from one of Fosfor's fics would probably make a good theme or something. Pretty much just people talking.

Then we have ... the TFF Alliance, set in Zeni's RPG world, as suggested. This would be where the budget is spent. Two guys talking? Cheap. Some of the stuff that comes out Z's RPGs? I've seen hollywood action films with less explosions, bad-assitude, and lasers.

I wonder, should we start a serious thread for this? I mean, short of commision work, I don't think a lot of people would seriously make a comic for us. And I'm not optimistic enough to think some one on the board is going to do this for free. But, you never know. People have made some fan-comics of one of Vathara's fics, so this isn't too unusual.

If I ever wondered before whether there really is a TFF hivemind, I don't anymore.

I've been thinking about a TFF webcomic for a while now.

The best way to do what you guys seem to want to do is to do two seperate webcomics.

For the one with a plot, I suggest following the evolution of the various TFF RPGs.á To avoid the inevitable slide they had from cheerful school randoness (Academy) to interstellar war, start in the future, with someone narrating, and a few snapshots of the end game (TFFer POWs being killed, people dying in various manly and tragic ways etc.) and have the page end with the line "How did it come to this?"

From there, do the TFF Academy story, starting with a normal day in the school (Heh.á Normal.á ) and then zoom out to include more and more of Academy City.

Then do a few arcs about different TFF exploration teams (from the most recent RPG attempt, maybe Nanashi and NGD in the Nagasarete joke world, or Vex on planet *twitch*).á And then start the Cerberus-ing, with the Yaoi bombardment on Academy City, and the Assault on Yaoi.

Just my rambling thoughts, but not a bad framework, I think.

I like this idea, but did you have a plan for the second of the two comics?
Slice of life? Go through the archives from PWNage or the TFF relationship guide or the rules guide, and just crack jokes about the randomness of it all. :D

Jokes about AJT's ability to write a crack concept (the origin of said concepts?), or the tendency of jailbait to hit on DesDes, how everyone drops to their knees when Hawk appears, or the Raine vs. everyone flame wars, Luthorne's overwhelming knowledge about teh internets, NGD burning fire, how everything Fosfor turns to gold...

Yeah. Lots of material.

EDIT: Going through the song collection, found The Champs "Tequila".

You know what rukia has on his work desk? 190 proof alcohol. We could do a whole bunch of comics about TFFers getting totally smashed, and write about their stories while listening to the song.

Anyways, the webcomic...

It should probaby start as mainly comedy, since there won't be much to draw in non-TFFers at the start. This would serve to establish the main characters without too much serious getting in the way. A good way to tart would be with your generic epic!opening, followed by a massive explosion and someone apologizing.

Once the characters and the setting is established, segway into the first Yaoi-ist invasion, as well as start showing off the insane ability to kill.

Some profile pages would be entertaining. Essentially a brief biography of a character, accompanied by a higher quality drawing/sketch.

Beyond that, all I had was some ideas for random filler comics. Not necessarily TFF based, but could easily fit in. I'll try and think up some more TFF relevant ideas.

Maybe just make it a warped version of a high school fic? Sort of like TFFA, but a bit more toned down?

...now I totally have a mental image of some malevolent entity laughing maniacally as hands reach out of the computer screens of TFFers, dragging them screaming with despair back into teenage bodies, back into high school...and all the TFFers swearing to fight a bloody war against everything, with the malevolent godlike entity doing all this to us continuing to fix the school after we blow it up or set it on fire, resurrecting the teachers, and all that sort of thing, possibly with some sort of 'out' offered to us if we can only find it...

...and it's all your fault!

I don't suppose someone could supply a link to the thread this idea originated in? That said, I would certainly be interested in reading it, and maybe act as proofreader or spellchecker for it, when it gets up off the ground.

We could have an entire side story on the debate about 3rd-11th dimensional beings, or the kinds of personal philosophy shared after reading the newest snippet of Shinji WH4K installment.

And possibly have someone's head explode during said conversations.

What sort of medium would you all be going for? Drawn, sprited, OMG! Tentacles?

Alright, I'll address some things.

Medium: I think drawn would be best, since there could be a large variety of characters, and using sprites would probably be too much of a hassle to hunt for new ones to represent new characters. Of course, OMGWTFTENTACLES!!!Style is always a possibility if you have an idea n how to accomplish this.

Positions we'd need for this: Multiples may be possible

Artist
Writers
Editors/Proofreaders
Webmaster/site manager
I'm sure there are probably more, but this is the bare bones. Though we could ditch the Editor position I suppose...

Story: While TFF is in the title, that doesn't serve to define the webcomic, just its origin. If you guys want to write about the childhood of a pony and can garner enough support for it, trhen we'll go with that. If we want to base it off of TFF, that's fine too. I'm mainly interested in just getting people involved in this project right now.

Heck, we could even have two or three. One dedicated to the weirdness of TFF, one story based TFF, and one stand alone work. It's pretty open at this point.

Or heck... A comics version of Key Through the Heart. That'd make writing the thing a heck of a lot easier if I just have to focus on telling the story and someone else doing the visuals.

This sounds insanely fun! If you want editor/proofread I'm interested. For the other current positions, there should be a thread in which prospective artists can showcase their pieces.

Note: By drawn style, are you referring to anything in between xkcd and megatokyo, or are you leaning towards the latter end of the scale?

@ajt: Bah! Then it'd be a Key Through the Heart webcomic not a TFF webcomic...

I suppose favoring the megatokyo side would be preferable. I'm not saying that we should have epic level background and character detail, but I would like to have at least above average drawings.

Something around this level maybe? http://www.misfile.com

As for a KttH webcomic... I like the idea, but that seems like a project for AJT to deal with, and should be treated as a separate thing.

I'd be interested in helping in some way. However, if you ever saw me draw you'd probably kill me out of sympathy, so it can't be as an artist.

#16
Ah, ok, Then I probably shouldn't draw either, but writing may be fun... We'll see.

I'm, perhaps, more interested in what submissions people hand in. ;)

Yeah but uh... I can't really draw. Like, well. At all.

Oh well... I'll still help on this comic any way I can. I did have an idea for a Naruto-inspired original story, if you'd like to hear it?

Hmm if this get's off the ground i'll help drop links for it everywhere i can if needed, but more importantly, with all the diffrent writer's and artiasts that Would/Should be working on this it should be something akin to Snafu we put up little oneshot image's and story's as there made.

EX: short funny one image story is completed, is put up, Page 19 of the ___ Series is completed, is put up after that.

And maybe a directory so you can find all the page's of ___ in order.

We need to get some artists before we go much further. Any ideas on who we can recruit?

I guess we should just have an open audition for artists, all mediums are acceptable, sprites, stick figures, Picasso Level, whatever. We need to get someone to draw this before we get too into this.

uhh... i dont have a list or anything and art (by us) is almost never mentioned but i know that SHINKIJIN is/was/tentacles good, the first three pages in the Ranma image thread have some of his work from a few year's ago.

I don't know if he'd help us, but it couldint hurt to ask. Also try asking Lord Raine, she keep's track of so much stuff it couldint hurt to ask him if she know's anything about any TFFers that are good artists, he might even have a few idea's.

It would also be necessary to determine who appear in it, do what and the most important what they look like.

I personally know what my "character" look like because I used to RP some years ago, but what of some of the others ?

I believe I've already taken some minor steps along this particular road, though in all fairness, it's more of a modding thing than an original comic.
