I't's a story i have been thinking of for a while, the idea of a hive mind facinate me.
It's also a challange to write a story from such a diffrent prespective, the one of one mind in several bodies. The demon/aliens/something creepy, in this story got some things in common with the Xenomorphs in the Alien movies, they dont look exactly like them though. Just like ants are similar to termites but still diffrent. I like the look of the Xenomorphs, the black exoskeleton and the way they move so i am likely to use that on part of the characters. now...on to the start of the story.

The Ascension of the black swarm.
The barrier shield around the masters lair collapsed with the death of the slayer. History developed as known, the slayer was resurected by the white knight with the help of the leach.
What wasnt known at this time was that in a closeby, partly collapsed tunnel there was an egg, trapped in the edge of the magical stasis shield. When the shield went down it started to develop as if nothing happened. The partly developed Queen stirred, feeling Minds close by, She quickly went back to her slumber. it was not yet time to leave the egg.
It had been two years. The Queen have been growing, developening. It was time. Breaching the shell she reaches out with her mind by instinct, trying to find the Mind of the rest of the swarm. There was nothing...no swarm. There was one mind in range though and in absolute terror from the sheer LONELINESS she latch on to it!
On the street five meters above above one human, one Xander Harris walk by on the sidewalk. The feeling of the Queens mind latching on to his make him scream out in pain, their minds joins and merge, forming the Mind of a new swarm.
Opening his eyes Xander, he blinks and look around. His other body, the one of the Queen do the same. Not with eyes though, but with a kind of sonar.
He shake his head, this is a whole new level on his Wierd-Shit-o-Meter! Still, the part of his mind that was the queen already know what he need to do. Grow. Protect the Hive. Spread.
After taking a minute, sitting on the grass next to the sidewalk he get up and head towards the nearest underground entrence. His other body is still trapped in the collapsed tunnel.
He need the Queen body to be able to spread.
It took a while, but with the help of the telepatic contact telling him where his other body was, he could find the right tunnel. With the Queen digging on one end and he on the other they where able to free her in just a few hours.
They turned and walk back through the tunnel, turning a left, a right and then two more lefts until they arrived into the masters old cave. It was perfect for a start of the hive. The Xanders Queen body head into the cave and start to get it ready, its time to lay egg.
Xander turn and walk back out, moving through the tunnels towards the exit. He have to meet buffy and the others in the library...besides. It wouldnt be good if they went looking for him. They could'nt find the Hive before it was ready to defend itself...
