The end of an Era

Let me start from the beginning, a friend of mine told me at school the day before yesterday that the entire Ultimate Universe is being canceled. Ultimate Spider-Man along with it.

What is my possible inclination to the think this? This sirs, this.

Well, Marvel released their solicitations today for their April-shipping books, and the following was stated for Ultimate Spider-Man #133:

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #133
Written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
Pencils & Cover by STUART IMMONEN
The end of an era? The last issue of Ultimate Spider-Man? Peter Parker is Spider-Man no more? Is Spider-Man dead and gone in the events of Ultimatum? This final issue will leave you jaw-on-the-floor shocked at the turn of every page!

Is that final sentence accurate?
Is it really the final issue of USM?

Discuss.

Marvel has pulled some chains before. Hell they've thrown us for a loop. But I think Ultimate Spiderman has probably been the best running comic they've done in years.

Does anyone know anything about this? Anyone? Please tell me it isn't true! :blue: :blue: :blue: :blue: :blue: :blue:

If the release date is April 1st, you have nothing to worry about. They're just pulling their April Fools Joke early. Besides, the current generation of Marvel movies is primarily based off the Ultimate Marvel Universe. They might make dumb moves, but risking their financial wellbeing isn't likely.

Dude. They've done this like, every fifth comic book.

"The New Avengers Will Succeed. . .

BUT ONE AMONG THEIR NUMBER MUST DIE FOR VICTORY!!! WHO SHALL FALL TO THE FURY OF EVIL? WHICH AMONGST THEIR NUMBER WILL TASTE THE BITTERNESS OF A FINAL FAREWELL?!"

They've done this so, so many times before. I don't even pay attention to what the covers or dramatic summaries say anymore. It's always just dramatic nonsense they throw out to suck people in and maintain suspense. OMG WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?!

They'll do whatever they think it takes to make more money is what will happen next. Ultimate brings in money. Thus, it will go on, even if they have to create a metal glove powered by magic gems that can auto-solve all the problems by resetting the entire universe to do it.

Ultimate Spider Man is continuing. Ultimate Fantastic Four and X-Men aren't though after Ultimatum.

They're cancelling the whole Ultimate Universe, but I bet they will start again with New Ultimate Spider-Man (NUSM), New Ultimates (NU) and New Ultimate Fantastic Four (NUFF said!)

Last I remember, they're ending the entire Ultimate Marvel line save USM and The Ultimates.

...Well I suppose the April 1st thing SHOULD have stuck out for me...I will say that I was so blinded by surprise that I I forgot to check.

Yes that saves my pride.

But man, Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate F4? Geez, I can understand the Ultiamtes continuing too but maaaan, X-men ultimate was amazing.

Well I suppose I'll never find out until this stuff is resolved.

And yeah Raine I know they do tend to do the whole "OMG AMAZING issue" crap but...given the economy it wouldn't not make sense to have them cancel USM, even if it is their greatest product atm.

BUT, only if they got Bendis on the main stream spidey, only then.

Not that I really follow marvel, but from what little of Ultimate X-men I saw, I hated it. Then again, I only really read the first volume and have never been fond of the X-men franchise in general, but I really didn't find that particular version appealing, like at all.
