Everyone remember Natsume and Kurumi from the OVAs?

Well, remember how they wanted to help their 'father' so much?

Well then, one should ask what Soun's greatest dream was not involving his wife or a locked Ranma-chan?

Simple. We need a story of Natsume and Kurumi trying to accomplish Soun's dream and unite the schools.

Unless of course this already exists. If so, links?

I don't recall ever seeing a lengthy write-up of either Ranma/Natsumi or Ranma/Kurumi. I really don't read anything new in the fandom anymore but when I still did, it wasn't hard to notice that those two girls appeared in very few stories overall. Perhaps writers just didn't like them, or didn't have use for them if they did like them; or perhaps the writers weren't as familiar with the OVA's as they were with the general TV series and/or the movies.

It could be any of the above. It could be all of the above.

Incidentally, I seem to recall reading that the page in the scanned manga where Soun says he will take Ranma as his wife if Ranma never gets unlocked, is a total mistranslation. As I can't read Japanese I don't know whether or not this is true, but what I recall hearing is that the real text says something like "Clan Tendou will arrange a marriage for you as a bride".

Back on topic, if someone were going to write this story seriously, one of the things that needs to be first decided is how the girls are Soun's daughters, because from what I recall when I saw that OVA a long long time ago, they're not. Since we know Soun was married and the Tendou household is extremely large, it seems possible the family is wealthy (it not rich in cash). Maybe the family owns a lot of property; I've posited that in the past. Perhaps Natsumi and Kurumi's mother was Soun's mistress. It doesn't seem terribly likely but a good writer could probably manage it.

Ranma and Akane both react rather strongly to it so it's certainly not a positive suggestion for either of them.

The actual text, first part seems to be reasonably accurate but I'm not sure on the second part which indicates what Tendo.
乱馬くん万が-男に戻れないその時は
天道豙からお嫁に出してあげるからねつ

Also the two characters are boring OVA OC's, barely worth a mention.

The last attempt at a long story centering on a Ranma and 'other Tendo' match ended when it turned out the author changed his mind 8 chapters in and decided to do another pairing instead and drop the other tendos off the story...

I have since vowed not to read anything new by that author.

Any such author attempting this should follow it through.

I know they were later to discover that they were not actually Tendo girls, but it was a ploy on Happosai's part, having claimed that he was Soun Tendo when he rescued them from a bear.

The point was, that while they did believe--and Soun as well--that they were his daughters, what would happen if they decided to help their father 'unite' the schools, as it were.

Well... therewould be multiple problems to solve.

The other fiancées would not stand for it for one. Though potentiaally they might go along with it short term if it took Akane out of the running.

There is the matter of actually getting Soun and Genma to agree to or approve of it, though it might merely be a matter of getting them drunk enough

An alternative approach would be to go through Nodoka instead. This may be possible as the girls strike as the traditional type. Getting her approval should be far easier IMHO.

There is also the matter that they would actually have to succeed in wooing/seducing or otherwise getting Ranma's attention in that kind of light. This is not exactly easy, but then, no one ever in canon actually tried *normal* methods on him.

I haven't watched the OVA but I read a summary and I have to ask, would Soun really go along with that? The man is an idiot but surely even he would remember siring illegitimate children. Unless the fic takes place after the OVA and instead of leaving the girls stay and Soun officially adopts them.

He may have, but even he couldn't rule them out as possibly his daughters. He seemed to go along with and support them--including not throwing a fit when they defeated Akane. Until they discovered it had really been Happosai who had saved them, he didn't put up a fight, especially given the level of proof they offered.

Somehow, I got the option he was either a wuss on the issue, drunk and most of his training with Happosai is shrouded in a drunken blackout, or both.
