An idea occurred to me after reading the "different parents" thread, what if Shinji had been raised by MINE. So I come to find myself imagining a science obsessed, Lego loving, plastic model building kid in glasses that has to think for a second about everything that he says and generally delivers in a straight deadpan and is a bit of a people watcher, as I was at that age. Yeah, it's a bit strange. Then again, so was I. *chuckle* A scene I thought of while at work for the last few hours:

The clock says 3:30 AM. And I'm still awake. It's my medication again. It always does this to me. Ok, just like Dr. Sato told me, take my shoes and socks off. Take my glasses off. And sit cross-legged on the bed. Put my hands on my knees and close my eyes. Focus on my breathing, in and out. Breathe in. Breathe out. In. Out. In. Out. Nothing else. In. Out. In. Out. Nothing else.
The eye is looking at me again. I must be asleep already. It's done this before. Hrm, I didn't notice those three dark spots last time. Wait, I'm not looking at the eye, directly. I'm looking at a reflection. I wonder what else is going on around here. Oh look, there's Misato-san. I wonder why she's running. And what's that she's on. OH! It's a catwalk. Why didn't I notice that earlier? She looks upset. Hey, she's picked something up now. She's cradling it. It's purple. And I think I see some green. Wait. Is that my plugsuit!?
"BEEP!! BEEP!!! BEEP!" the alarm blares in my ear. Must be 6:30 AM already. I can't read the clock without my glasses. But I know that's what it'll say. 3 hours of sleep. Well, it's more than I usually get.

There, it's rough and REALLY needs fleshing out. But yeah, that's a brief sample of what he'd be like as...well...me. The meditation is an exercise to help calm down so he/I could sleep. The glasses...well...his father wears glasses. I figure it's in the cards for him. Besides, I can't even begin to imagine myself without my glasses.
By the way, before you even ask, yes that is a prophetic dream he just had. And yes, I do have them. And no, I don't think that makes me a psychic. I am a firm believer in Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. And besides, my premonitions are just as boring as my life is. I figure that with Shinji's future, his premonitions might be a LOT more interesting.
