And it's not coming out in 2015 either, according to Martin's publisher.

Yeah, I heard. Apparently this means the TV Series will overtake the books.

Well, that one was a given. There was no way he was going to finish the series fast enough.

At this rate, the show will most likely get a TV original end... which might very well be the only ending fans will get.

With this, they probably will get another author to finish it if he dies before it's over. Too much money not to.

So...the fans should pay for GRRM's personal trainer and Dietician?

Or just go to wherever he lives, buy out all the bacon in the stores, and bribe the local telecommunications employees to cut all NFL viewing access to his house.

I'm reminded of the Simpsons parody of hamlet

Where Marge kills herself ar the end because everyone else is already dead

The bigger question is who and what their deaths mean. Seriously do not kill Brienne off just because.

1.289 million posts on TFF and still no Winds of Winter

This topic is over 4 years old now, and the wait as such is also over 4 years.

Honestly, Martin should have an easier time of it by the time A Dream of Spring comes around. I mean, he'll have killed off so many characters there won't be anybody left to write about in Book 7.

Not really, no. Between the complexity of the plot, the number of characters and the length of the books I'd have been surprised if the book had been finished before the season. He does say that he's 'months away' from finishing so I'd guess late spring to winter of 2016 if all goes well.

He says it's months away 'if the writing goes well'. Considering his history lets assume it will not go well and add on another two years at best.

Honestly? I would expect several months at a minimum for editing work even after he's finished writing still, so I don't think any time in 2016 is likely. 2017 is more probably to me...which would be over 5 years, so I guess the post I made 4 years ago actually came true.

Remember, they want to push this one out the door. A lot. In fact I'd be a little bit worried about them not going over everything.

There should be a turbocharged version of Nanowrimo.

The total Game of Thrones series so far is about 1.75 million words, so maybe 2.25 million once Winds of Winter is out.

Once Winds of Winter is out, see if you can write more in the time it takes George to write A Dream of Spring than everything he's written up to that point for the series!

Someone should tell Martin that typing burns calories. If he wrote faster, he might be able to slim down!

He did just release a new chapter. I've actually been avoiding spoilers as much as I can on them.

Finish the book George.

Well, there's only one NFL game left this season.

Martin says it could be out in 2018. Or maybe 2019.
