Third Time's The Charm
As suggested by a reader, what if Keitaro passed the Exam the third time and Naru her first, with him. As Mutsumi has to meet them, they may still endure the events of running away, thinking they failed. The magic of the Hinata District, and the deposed Hina gods, means their binding promise from 15 years ago will only let them fulfill it together. So, if they passed and thought they failed, and went hither and yon, ending up on the island, then returned, together, to file the exam results and become todai students, what would happen next? This is that story.
ôWe did it. We really did it. Before we cross the line, thereÆs something I want to tell you, Naru,ö said Keitaro, tanned from their adventure to Okinawa with Mutsumi. Naru raised an eyebrow. Mutsumi crowded in on NaruÆs other side to listen in.
ôNaruà I love you. I have since we met,ö he admitted. ôAnd all our time together has made me love you more.ö And they stepped forward, the three of them, into Todai. There was a strange shimmer around them.
Dreams, murmured a voice of memory.
A promise kept, sighed another.
A love found, voiced the third.
ôHuh, did you just hear that?ö asked Keitaro before thinking. Mutsumi looked very thoughtful.
ôAra, so thatÆs why Kei-kun looked familiar. Ià donÆt feel faint anymore,ö she admitted and the ditzy look she often had seemed to fade away. She looked at Naru. Naru was red with embarrassed fury.
ôKEITARO!!ö and nailed him with an uppercut. He yelped and his chin flew back. Then he flopped forward again, not having moved, blood leaking from his mouth a moment later. An ugly bruise appeared.
ôOWW! That hurt Naru! WhyÆd you do that?ö whined Keitaro. Naru snarled with rage, wondered why Keitaro wasnÆt flying into the lower atmosphere like usual. And why he was bleeding from a mere punch. And why her hand hurt so much.
ôDonÆt you know IÆm a violent lesbian?ö snarled Naru, wincing at the growing pain in her hand. ôI think I broke something,ö she suddenly realized.
ôAra, you like girls, Naru?ö asked Mutsumi. Her eye twinkled.
ôOh no!ö cried Keitaro. ôI thought we would be happy together!ö
ôWe can beà with me in the middle,ö pointed out Mutsumi. ôI donÆt mind, Naru. And Kei-kun is pretty. I want you too,ö she cooed.
ôIà ahà what?ö said Naru, confused, all thought blocked by her throbbing hand. Mutsumi took them by the hand and directed them away from the staring students.
Thus began one of the stranger Todai polygamies, a story of a wussy man surrounded by hot girls, and his two girlfriends, one a voluptuous bisexual Okinawan majoring in social economics and winner of the Nobel Prize, the other a violent lesbian boxer with a fetish for motorcycles, formerly the top student in Japan. In their first year, he married the Okinawan but somehow the Lesbian was always around. The Wuss never did lose his look of confusion and always showed some bruises.
ôI fell down the stairs,ö was his frequent answer.
Nobody believed it for a second.
