Harry Potter Training Harry

Recently, there have been dozens of fics that have Harry going back in time for various reasons. One of these are the fact that Harry need training to catch up with Voldemort's experience.

What would be an alternate way of teaching Harry and Co. the nessessary spells to fully survive against the Death Eaters.

--

My idea for an alternate teaching method...

Use a few dozen "Pensives" with memories of various Auror level spells being cast. Using the memories of how the spells are cast should decrease the amount of time needed to learn a spell.

So...kinda the Harry Potter answer to Naruto spamming KB to learn stuff? I suppose that works; though I'm not sure how you'd build a plot around this idea, or is this just to get around the whole time travel aspect of turning Harry into a magical Terminator?

It's more of a short cut for learning the spells. He gets to "feel" how the spells are done.

This would be done one spell at a time...but, the multiple pensives means that Harry can train on his own without taking away the experienced Order members from missions.

You do realise that the only real mission that the Order of the Overcooked-KFC has is 'babysit Harry'. That's not a fanon delusion, it's canon fact, as shown in book 5.

But seriously, the only way that Harry would get any real and proper training is if someone highly skilled in the art of Self-Preservation took him under his/her wing.

I had Harry becoming powerful by dusing with a dementor, going back in time, and becoming Merlins best freind/team mate. The two become great wizards, and eventually Harry (now known as tom) helps a weakened, and dieing Harry in the same situation. They use, go back in time, and train with mirlin fifty years, then they all join mind, and go to Hagwarts. I hope it was original.

a good one i havent seen in a while it Harry jumping forward a little in time, Training under himself, then going back, and being the one who trains himself.

I had an idea that solves the problem in a simple way.

Instead of training Harry, have him cause a magical accident during said traiaing, which caues his soul and Lezard Valeth's (from Valkyrie Profile) to be switched.

Cue Voldy getting nuked by a Celestial Star spell.

Mind you, the main reason why I liek Lezard is because he's worse than Voldemort, in a way. He's a creepy stalker obsessed with a Goddess to the point that he made loli-clones of her - a Lenneth-quarium, if you will.

I mean, why bother with training when you can write a crossover that is all sorts of wrong at once?

Seriously...

You can''t say he's not what Harry will become given enough time, enough cynism and enough insanity. :snigger:

I just thought of a great way to train Harry: drop him repeatedly into a pit of hungry cats while tied up in fish sausage.

...what?

OK, jokes aside, one of the better characters from another series to train Harry would be Revan, former Dark Lord of the Sith. Now, how Revan arrives in the HP world has to be very carefully done, lest it be a clichÚ. I'd tell you all how I'd do it, but I'm saving it for my KotOR/Ranma story that I'm working on. Still in the early stages, but.

Well one way to supercharge Harry is mabey for him to have an accident while practecing leglimency, and somehow he ends up mind-raping voldy.

Not seen to many of fics where he does that.

Has anyone ever done a fic where Harry was adopted by mad-eye Moody?

Yes. It was absolutely hillarious too. Can't find the bloody link here, however. Must be at work. :/

Check Rorschach's Blot on ff.net, he has like 3 chapters of a Harry Moody in his odd ideas fic randomly distributed amongst the chapters. It's mostly a crack-fic though...

The chapters of the story are in odd ideas chapters 2, 4, and 12 I believe...
Here's the first chapter: First chapter of Harry Moody

There's a bunch of other crackfics/ideas in that selection too, so if you want a good laugh, go check them out as well.

I'd love a 'trained by Dark Schneider' fic. Guy's got a worse case of meglomania than Voldie, but has the power to back it up...

Of course, that's before it became a magical DBZ.

Another choice would be Kyoshiro Mibu from Samurai Deeper Kyo. Guy's a bit of a perv, a powerful wizard, one of the most deadly fighters in the world. He's also got a split personality.

Erm, I can see the Pensive thing not working too well. For one, he would just be watching them do the spells, without knowing how they are cast, what they really do, or what he needs to know in order to cast them.

I agree with Dubrichius in that it would have to be someone very skilled. Harry can learn a lot on his own, but that only goes so far.

What I feel is most amusing in all this discussion is that Harry uses nothing from the normal world. All I see that Death-eaters are, NEPUTs (Non Electrical Pop Up Targets).
Why can't anyone use a rifle, handgun, or knife, and kill the little shits? All they seem to be in both fanon and canon are badly dressed KKK members.

Have harry trained to use his mind, stick him in the SAS, US marines, or the SEALs, although him getting in is kinda non-existent.

To be fair, Bastard!! is one of the few manga who went all DBZ-y and STILL managed to not suck. It may be because Dark Schneider was always supposed to be absurdly over the top, and also because he's consistently weaker than the opponents he's currently fighting... not to mention his followers in the past have all been almost as strong as him.

How else would Gara, Kall Su and Arshes Nei have survived that long in a post-apocalypse Hell-infested earth?

The only answer to Self-Preservation is Rincewind, all others fall short.

One possible way for training is if the idea of extra space being put in whatever then why not extra time, though preferably without aging. Similarly something like a Room of Requirement features added in with access to every sort of knowledge, equipment and materials needed and the ability to simulate situations. So in goes inexperienced wizard and a few minutes later out comes archmage/mad scientist/trained killer. In the end though, he would probably need to acquire assassin skills with very "outside the box" thinking skills so that he figure out how to destroy Tom's organization and sympathizers (even if they are members of governments) as well as going after the head.

So... and upgraded room of space and time? Now I'm sure you can do better than that!

Well I was trying to go for the most simple and direct route that would still be within canon.

A more different idea which is not in canon is that the Sorting Hat also skimmed and absorbed a bit of magic (which quickly grows back) as well as knowledge even greater than anyone believed as a failsafe by the founders and encouraged the future headmasters to periodically consult with the Hat as a secret confidant so they can get some advice and insights as if the founders were still there. Albus has not done so for a long time. The Hat decided not to push the issue and simply bided its time. Later it might get a message to Harry to put the Hat on, then download all the knowledge and skills into him, along with some magic. After Harry mumbles "All are one" and sings "The Touch" and some meditation, he would have access to all the knowledge of previous headmasters as well as knowledge of all the kids that went under the hat (not necessarily having much magic skills as it is for location of things and places and the relationships of various people and how they handle themselves). Maybe even some of those with non-magical parents may have had parents who had an interest or an affiliation with certain groups in making homemade explosives, weapons and various skills of those types of groups and passed along the knowledge to some extent to their kids while still young.

Killing curse renders Harry a shaman/necromancer. Allows Harry to summon spirits of the dead, or allows him to visit the bao. Basically a waiting room between life and death (though I've most likely misspelled it.) Get some of the best trainers to ever exist around, plus allow him to reunite with parents.
