If it must be single pairing, that is my preference, but...
This is one of the few animes that is trying to enforce a single end pairing I actually look forward to discovering it is a harem... In comparison to most harem animes, they all like each other, though likely not in that way, have common duties, and common end goals. None are overly violent, none really superpowered or what not, yet all have their quirks.
This is the way all multi-love interest stories should go: Everyone on even ground with no obvious favoritism to any girl. They're all being given equal spotlight time, no one is violent or overly clingy, and I don't dislike any of them. So far, this is one of the few series where I thought I had the final pair figured out right away just like most other stories of the type, but I'm doubting myself on that now. Honestly, I'll be satisfied no matter who gets picked when it's all over with at this point.

In a burst of activity, Solaris-SVU has caught up it's scanlations with the current issue of Young Animal.

Karin and Soyogi try to get closer to the Dragon God... unfortunately Shizuku has other plans.

Karin and Soyogi make some interesting discoveries about their choices in apparel, while Shizuku tries to make her dreams about a reward a reality.
Ch 48 - At The Beach Together
The Cape Maidens and the Dragon God go to the beach... the forecast is for clear skys, warm temps, and risque swimsuits.
Ch 49 - Sorry
A shower, a heart to heart, and dinner. Things are getting better. But then Nagi learns about the new sleeping arrangements....
Hopefully now we will be able to get the raws and scanlations within a couple of weeks of publication in Japan.

I like this series and I am really suprised that I do. On the face of it absolutely nothing happens most of the time. There is no real conflict, no great secrets or anything. There is no action and only the occasional humerous bits. There is some character development, but for the most part the manga seems to mainly run on atmosphere and mood alone.
I am reasonably sure that this manga must hold some sort of record for the most panels without any characters in them. There are so many establishing shots of anything from boats in the habor to an empty kitchen that it really isn't funny anymore.
It seems Kou Fumizuki just wants to draw pretty pictures of the ocean, beach and the island and occasionally includes pictures of girls in swimsuits to round things out.
I think the Mangaka made it clear where his focus by the things he changed for the tankoban release. Solaris-SVU the scanlators who do scans of both the magazine and the tankoban chapter had some comparison pictures up for the difference between serialized and collected version of the manga. Where some artists use the tankoban release to correct minor mistakes or draw in nipples (To-Love-Ru), The creator of Umi no Misaki did things like replacing some establishing shots with different all new establishing shots that he for some reason liked better.
The real strange thing is that he somehow manages to pull this of succesfully. You don't snatch up the latest release from Solaris-SVU the moment it is out because you expect anything to be resolved or developed, you just expect some pretty pictures that set the mood for a very slowly developing story.

I remember someone having the same sentiments as me on the forum: It would be interesting if Nagi was not the Dragon God- or at least, no one noticing he was its reincarnation.
I'd love to see a fanfic where Nagi has to deal with xenophobia, and having little to no support/friendship/romance with the Maidens.

What about throwing in some more Shounen elements as well. Instead of Dragon God just being a title(as it has so far) have conflict and some fights and epic villains as well. There would have to be some way for Nagi to know that he is the Dragon God though, say there's some Monument/place on the island that triggers either some guardian/spirit/retainer of the past Dragon God that can guide him/fill him in on the history.
If you throw in the Shounen elements as well they'd probably teach/train him about his abilities he'd need to fight with as well. Though I generally think that given he's supposed to be a reincarnated/reborn (I just realized there's some eerie parallels here, Dragon reborn anyone?) GOD his foes would probably need to be a bit more epic than the typical monster/villain of the week of most Shounen/Shoujo stories.
Just an idea. My personal leanings are always more towards action even though I do enjoy a good romance it gets dull after awhile with nothing else to spice it up.
Edit- I wonder if we should make an idea thread.
