OK, so this is as of right now about a few different ideas that mesh pretty well together.
The first part was spawned from the concept of mirror's having unique properties in regards to magic.
They can act as Cages/Portals.
The first time it would be used would be in the end of First Year in front of the mirror of erised.
When Voldemort's spirit exits the corpse, additional runs Dumbledore added sucks in his spirit. As well as Harry's scarcrux.
This pretty much ends Voldemort.... But it also sets into motion the main conflict.
The perpetrators? Atlantis. After emerging in Atlantis in a body, Voldemort is easily decimated by the local peace keeper.
Long story short, Merlin (Non pottermore Merlin) cast the island of Atlantis into its mirror image. (Reflected from an unusually clear Ocean... Or something like that)
The people of Atlantis have long been watching the world of the living however. They rather enjoyed making snide comments about their cousins appearances. As well as any advances, few as they were, that the wizards would make. Especially in the Department of Mysteries.
Dumbledore linking Erised, having Voldemort alert the Alanteans that a new portal was open...
As well as an unfortunately stored in the Room of Requirement...
Now a few year jump to Fourth year right in the middle of the world cup....
A huge liquid metal sphere builds from nowhere.
Like imagine this but a few hundred times bigger:
Then dropping out of it, flying out of it in machine, the troops of Atlantis storm the stadium.
What better place to try to take over the world than when many magical state leaders are involved as well as a fair percent of the population?
At the same time Dumbledore is taken prisoner at Hogwarts as they capture Hogwarts.
The ministry is pretty much wipes off the face of the map. Magic and Non.
Then a week or so later giant towers that act as magical dampeners appear across the world... But the invading forces are not affected.
Meanwhile the cast of heroes?
Three different groupings:
The Stadium Group:
Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred, George, Cedric, Cho, Seamus, Dean, Fluer, Victor, Bill, Flitwick, Sprout, Karkaroff
(Deaths: Arthur, Percy, Charlie, Hannah, Susan, Draco, Cissy, Fudge, Crouch, Various Others)
Ottery St. Catchpole Group:
Molly, Luna, Mr. Lovegood, Mrs. Diggory, Neville, Mrs. Longbottom, Daphne, Tracy, Dudley Dursley, Marge Dursley.
(Deaths: Vernon Dursley, Petunia Dursley)
Azkaban / Isle of Man Bunker Group:
Kingsley, Tonks, Muggle Prime Minister & various high ranking muggle officials, Mad Eye, Severus Snape, Bellatrix Lestrange & various D.E.s under her charge, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew.
(Deaths: Carrows, Greyback, Minerva. Hagrid, Barty Jr.)
Naturally the Stadium group is pretty self explanatory. The second group is a little bit trickier, but putting Marge and Tracy living in Ottery makes it a little easier.
The third group... I am putting Azkaban as close to the isle of man and putting a bunker in the isle. Pettigrew coward he is was in the middle of pulling out breaking Bellatrix out(Since he couldn't find V-Mort) Of course Barty Jr. was pretty much forcing him to do it but.... Kingsley was guarding the Muggle PM... Like to think of that as a permanent position. Through him the other Non-DE Magicals were taken as assets in assessing the Atlantean threat...
