It's a simple survey, really. List your top 10 most liked games and if you feel like it, why you liked them.

Mine:

10) Raiden Trad

My very first arcade shooter. It's very dated by now, but back then, I loved the hectic action and absolutely scary amount of bullets onscreen at once.

9) Psychic 9

A very old, quirky platform. It's... hard to explain. If possible, download and play it. I lost track of how many coins I wasted on it.

8) Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble

GOD. Seriously. Pretty much the only puzzle game I WILL play if I see it anywhere.

7) Out-Run

What? It still owns 90% of today's driving games for free.

6) Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness

Excellent one-on-one fighter which will likely make many mecha fans happy. And Devilotte is funny, even beyond the name (Devilotte de Deathsatan the 9th? )

5) Alien vs. Predator

Great fighting game. Not the best, but great.

4) Metamoqester

I'm probably one of the few lucky souls who found this game outside Japan. It's a great game, although it's unbelievably hard.

3) The King of Fighters '98

Best KoF. Period.

2) Dungeons & Dragons: Shadows over Mystara

The best sidescrolling fighter. Try it if you can, it's worth it.

1) The Last Blade

Best fighting game ever, if you ask me. Great characters, hard but fair, pretty graphics and well balanced.

Sooo... go, now.

Arcade?

Is that were you have to put in quarters to play one game or continue, no matter how you do?

No thanks.

I like playing my games for free.

-_-

There ARE emulators for arcade games, if you want to be absolutely anal about paying... <_<

Hmm the only 3 I ever really recall playing a lot was House of the Dead and House of the Dead 2. As well as the Simpsons arcade game.

I'd play the Time Crisis games from time to time as well.

And most arcade games end up getting ported to console anyway.

It's not like I have a total aversion to paying for games, I do buy them from time to time, but even then, once you have the game, you don't have to pay any more to play it.

Besides, I live in the Appalachian Mountains... the only arcade games I know of around here are Deer Hunter, Bust a Move, and a few pinball and video poker games.

Yep shooting games are what I love when in an arcade. I also like Police 911 or something like that in which it register your movement for ducking and jumping out and shooting.

I was able to get through the entire game only needing to put in an additional play.

My List of games in alphabetical order.

10) Alien Vs Predator
Fun side scrolling beat em up with aliens, predator and humans. Though the best was character hands down was Lt. Linn Kurosawa

09) Cyber Trooper Virtual On
Exciting robot fighting game where you had to use two joysticks to maneuver your character and defeat the opponent. A tricky game that is fairly easy to learn but hard to master.

08) Dungeons and Dragons
It was D&D on a 2d plane that gave you the ability to level up and kick the crap out of monsters and demons. Fun times!

07) ESP Ra.De.
I personally thought that this was an amazing shooter and it engulfed my attention for a week straight. Has the best hit system I have seen in many games, letting you weave through bullets and unless they actually hit you, just pass by.

06) ESWAT Cyber Police
Amusing game where you are police officers that can obtain powered armor that gives you mad firepower to fight off crime and punish criminals.

05) King of Fighters
SNK's flagship fighting game. Has a ongoing story with tons of characters and is very enjoyable to play, most of the time. It can be frustrating however as the SNK Boss Syndrome, super over powered end bosses, can really make you mad.

04) Street Fighter
A staple in 2d fighting games. Brought us memorable figures like Generic Martial Arts Dude and Must have female fighter that is weak but fast. SFIII - 3rd Strike is the pinnacle of his fighting series. The pinnacle female fighter is also Cammy.

03) Super Puzzle Fighter
A puzzle game that is not only addictive, but cute to boot. Requires insane ability to predict your opponents moves and tons of luck to pull off insane combos that will have you laughing at your friend's demise. Or crying in defeat as that super gamble blew up in your face, painfully.

02) Time Crisis / Crisis Zone
Awesome gun game that has a story and things to shoot. I feel that Time Crisis 3 was the best of them all. Though Crisis Zone was also fun in its own way.

01) Vs series. Capcom Vs SNK / Marvel Vs. Capcom / Etc.
Enjoyable fighting games allow recognizable characters duke it out against each other despite the fact that they would never actually meet in their own respective story lines.

Well I guess it's time for me to throw my list in :

10) Mr. Do/Mr. Do's Castle
I just loved the pace of this game as well as the fact that a clown that dribbles a ball that only explodes upon contact with monsters.

9)Crystal Castles
God! I can't remember how much money I spent on this game, all I know is it was a lot. Something about the bear picking up gems was just addictive.

8)Star Wars (the 1983 Atari game)
Just hearing/remembering the words "Red Five standing by." still leaves me tingling in anticipation of going through the trench.

7)Robotron: 2084
Lord I know I'm showing my age, but I have to give honors to the first multi-directional shooter developed. The sheer mayhem going on in the game was a true test of nerves.

6)Smash TV
C'mon we are talking about the a video game adaptation of 'The Running Man'. Hell who doesn't have fond memories of the 'Pleasuredome' or such phrases as "Big Money! Big Prizes! I love it!" or "Good Luck...you'll need it!" And let's not forget the brutality inherent in the game 2 years before Mortal Kombat.

5)Street Fighter II
The premier game that introduced the concept of combo's. The sheer joy of beating a player that just used one move or smack all buttons while waving the control stick like a madman while retaining a perfect is priceless.

4)Raiden II
I loved the lock on laser and just dodging all the bullets while destroying anything else with the laser stream.

3)Bubble Bobble
I can still play for hours on this game.

2)Buster Bros
Poppin' balloons around the world don't get no better than this.

1)Marvel Super Heroes
Fond memories of beating just about every person that challenged me when this first came out. Loved using Dr. Doom and Thanos

Well there you are flames and criticisms are expected.

mmm...let[s see, at the moment, my memory is a littly fuzzy when it comes to Arcade games as it has been quite a while since I played them both on an emulator and outside the house.

Let's see here....the top ten (or how many that I can even remember that is) choices that I have currently are:

1-5) Metal Slug Series minus 6 as I haven't played that one yet.

Nothing like shooting tons of bullets and grenades at random bosses and such.

6) Time Crisis 3

Doesn't hurt that I used to own the game before and went on a frenzy trying to beat the game without dying. I'm waiting for the fourth one to come out on the PS3 though as playing it in an arcade is REALLY expensive.

7) Dungeons & Dragons: Shadows over Mystara

I like it because..well I like the fact that the Priest can finally get a kick ass weapon (Morning Star) and that the fighter can dual wield (even if the sad fact of the dual wielding being short swords) in it.

8) Megaman

Yes, there's a Megaman Arcade game. Two of them in fact. Both are before the X series. First one plays with Protoman/Blues, Megaman/Roce and Bass/Forte against Wily's bots. Second one includes Duo into the mix. Both are two player.

9) Super Puzzle Fighter

I like it because it's oddly cute.

10) nearly any game that's co-op but let's me be able to hit those that are playing with me without loss of life. Namely my brothers because it's fun.

Nuff said.

Coming up with 10 arcade games I like was hard. Putting them in order was even harder, but here you go:

10) Bust-a-Move
My second favorite puzzle game, second only to my number 8 on this list. I will say that I don't particularly care for the Bubble-Bobble version.

9) Star Wars
I don't remember much about it other than the graphics were wire frame and it was awesome.

8) Tetris
I'm talking about the original, with the Russian sounding music and the dancing cossacks in the background. Still the best puzzle game out there.

7) Ninja Turtles
When I first saw this game, I wasted quarters on it like no other. It was fun to see how little money I could spend and beat the game. I think my record is $2.00 (8 plays - 24 lives).

6) The Simpsons
Pretty much a carbon copy of Ninja turtles, but a little more fun nonetheless.

5) Silent Scope
A game in which no home port could ever do it justice. As if sniping the bad guys wasn't fun enough, you get to peep on hot girls if you're lucky.

4) Turtles in Time
Took the original Turtles formula and made it even better. I bought the TNMT 3 game for PS2 just for the Turtles in Time port (what a disappointment that was...).

3) UN Squadron
AKA Area 88. Space Invaders like atmosphere, cool planes, and catchy music. To this day, I still have fun picking out all of the different airplanes featured in the game.

2) Dance Dance Revolution
Yup, I've been a part DDR craze, however in my opinion the franchise has fallen off in recent years. My personal favorite is 3rd Mix Korean v2. The last good one was 5th Mix. MAX 2 was decent. I don't care for Extreme at all.

1) Time Traveler
Anyone else remember this gem from SEGA? Plays like Dragon's Lair. The gimmick was its hologram like graphics. It was all done with mirrors, but still... There was nothing quite like it, and I don't think there will be anything like it for a long time.

The only games I ever was truly into AT an arcade were Lethal Enforcers and the X-Men arcade game.

Dragon's Lair
Space Ace
Tetris
Silent Scope
Top Gun
Time Killer - really enjoyed the dismembered characters still fighting on.
Spy Hunter - Till this day I still love the Peter Gunn theme.
Joust

I gotta stop I could keep going on and on.

1) Gauhtlet legends (Had a max leveled archer all the way throught eh tigaress secondary class. Many a fun weakend for sure...)

2) Dungeons and Dragons (I only had access to this unit for a short time before they nixed it from the arcade I went too. good times though)

3) X-men (I loved that game. It gave you access to a bunch of my favotire mutents that you normally didn't see at the time. Nightcrawler and Dazzler were my favs.)

4) Ninja turtles (Loved it... beat it on several occations.)

5) Original Gauhtlet (I loved this game, my old gaming place had a machine like this and even with all the computer games, mintures games, and RPs going on I always took time to play a few lives. Elf, needs food badly)

I'm only doing five because most of the others slip my mind at the moment...

Hmm, the arcade I go to (yes, I still go to arcades, sue me) recently received two interesting-looking games named Matrimelee and Guwange. The latter is a shooting game, and is best described as bullet hell.

Just for the record, I love your sig.

"POTION!" *crash* *agonizing scream*
Snippet no jutsu!

Little does anyone know, potions and their ilk need to be introduced directly into the bloodstream for maximum effect. The many small wounds created from glass shards are widely regarded as the most efficient method.

Incidentally, this effect was discovered one day when a chemist with a wandering eye was caught by his wife 'teaching' one of the younger female chemists in his lab.
