What (manga) are you reading?

Right so breaking my rule because I'm intrigued, and commenting on a Jump series that will probably get canceled.

Ibitsu no Amalgam

So basic premise is dude has a tsundere love interest he sorta confessed to, they were about to go on a date, and he tries to save a kid that is a hologram who fell on the tracks, and loses everything below the belt and an arm. Hologram was used by a scientist to collect resources for a monster experiment and turns him into a bone monster thing. However he retains his sanity despite being mentally and probably physically super impaled by the monster cells because, in his words, his love's kicks hurt more.

Finally having a Violent Tsundere love interest served a purpose.

Thus far there's two chapters and not much to go on but giving the lead a bone physical body power when blood is the more popular option (See Demon's Plan's Blood Armor for another example of that recently) is intriguing and I like what it's done thus far so it could be worth it to keep an eye on it and see where it goes. However I'm a bit concerned that it's overly relying on shock value from the word go. This isn't another death game series, thank god, but it goes for the gore much like one in a lot of ways early on, which tends to be a warning sign for me for this sort of thing.

Despite that though it has potential and has shaped up some interesting plot threads thus far (though the mummified monsters bit as research for the war that was never used and disappeared before they bore fruit was kinda lame and needs expanding ala the Gamer tying history to its lore in interesting ways), so if it survives the 30 chapter mark and becomes a full series it could go places.

World Embryo finally updated.
Finally completed, you mean, after over a year of the scanlators sitting on the last couple of chapters. <_< But, I'm glad it's finally over. Ends better than the author's other work, Chrono Crusade.

Late. I already brought it up before. Unfortunately, it seems like the English translation was canceled or something, which is the only reason why it started getting posted at all nowadays.

Not that it helps because for some reason it's not popular at all. Which SUCKS because the first real fight scene that happens in a couple of chapters from now is impressive and really goes for the body horror aspect.

Reading Black Clover. Up to Chapter 22, and so far, it's a great story. It's what you get when you fuse One Piece into Fairy Tail.
Give some comments once you're at the end.

Sure, though, right now it's at Chapter 90. Going to take a few days since I got morning shift.

Okay, now that I'm up to speed on Black Clover, here are my thoughts and comments.

1) It's a really good story, with elements borrowed from Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, and The Seven Deadly Sins thus far. It works in my opinion, the arcs give us different aspects of the character (and the chapters are paced pretty well for the most part... that is until I reached the current arc in Witch's Forest. That's where I learn a few things.

2) From what I've read in the comments, this series is based off a light novel, and the manga elected to skip a section of story where Aster and the Black Bulls saved some defectors. If it kept us from dwelling too long on Aster's issue at the time, I was fine with that -- now, however, that missing plotpoint has crept back up in a major way, as we have three characters dropped on us from seemingly nowhere, with only a flashback to tie them into the story. Supposedly, this was done to get readers to pick up the light novels, but to me, who doesn't have access to light novels or can read Japanese, it's a great frustration that cannot be simply overcome, so any impact, surprise or twist relating to these people is lost.

3) Because this started out as a light novel, and the manga skips at least one arc after the Underwater Temple, there is reference in-story that it's been at least a year when we get to the Witch arc. To be honest, without knowing that, it only feels like a few months at best. Tie in the concern about the missing arc from the manga, and it feels a bit hinky, particularly when you'd think Black Bull would prioritize healing Aster over anything else.

4) Characters are fun. The Black Bulls members range from an alcohol-drinking witch that prances around in her skimpies most of the time to an antisocial with an extreme siscon affliction to a foodie who may well be the strongest member of the Order (when you threaten her meal, that is), and Marilyn Manson. The rivalry between Aster and Juno is sort of like Naruto and Sasuke, but it's far friendlier. And the Sorcerer Emperor, while being a total baddass, is also the biggest magic nerd there ever was. The villains/antagonists, though, well, they aren't bad, just, not nearly so interesting. And, again, missing arc even gouges out parts of their backstory, so any twists on their end just seems like an asspull, rather than character development.

MonsterMusume updated today, http://www.mangatown.com/manga/monster_musume_no_iru_nichijou/

While nothing still relatively happened, we got some world-building and something kind of happening, so yay. Still steadily losing interest with this shounen-esque NOT PROGRESSING THE PLOT.

It sort of is at the very end there though.

Also, outside of the current 'dangerous species' arc, the story never really had a plot.

On 2: no, it's not based on a light novel. It's a full mangá series that happens to have a Light Novel. Although you are right that this arc was sadly skipped, it's not the same as a light novel adaptation. [It's closer to how Naruto had a bunch of novels of its own that are currently being turned into animated arcs.]

Read the final chapter of Sekirei.

Well, it's over I suppose. No resolution tot he waifu wars, but at least we know how it all goes down. Kind of interesting how the series became less and less fanservicy and ettchi as time went on. Early chapters were basically soft core porn while later are fairly standard fanservice.

Here

Trinity Seven updated with a few little (Omake? / Shorts?) bits of character development from what I assume is earlier in the series considering it's references.  While I was hoping for the new chapter, I was satisfied with what we got to see.  For all people talk about harem stereotypes and such being stale- I think it just takes a good portrayal to make them fun again.

Both Monster Musume and Shin Seitokai no Ichizon updated today. MonMusu actually had some plot shit start going down, and Shin Seitokai finally is resolving the Kagami business.

Enjoy.

Shin Seitokai only has one more chapter left, according to MAL.

You mean Volume, maybe?  Because I don't see this getting resolved . . . . in a positive way . . . within one chapter.

Nope. It has 13 chapters, spread across 3 volumes.

Well, that cut on his neck looked pretty bad, but a plaster fixed it right up. Plus we only have Kurimu left to make an actual appearance.

So the new Getter Robo series just brought up the big plot twists.

Turns out the original Ryouma Nagare is in this too. And this series is meta as all hell; part of the objective of the heroes was making the local Ryouma Nagare accept he's the hero of the story. Well, it worked, and now it just opens more questions.
