Worst dialogue because of translational issues, or just because it sucked regardless?

I think, in terms of sheer bad story, I'd have to pick Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun. I spent most of the cutscenes in that game thinking, "W...T...F...?"

Really? I was laughing at the bad acting in TS. Though I might of ingored most of that by just liking most of the game.

Worst voice acting? All of the C&C games. Worst dialog? Some game from 2FlashGames that I can't recall the title of.

Worst VA... hm. Every game that uses german words where they don't belong (and that means: in any way, shape, place, time or anything in those games, because non-native speakers just /don't/ get it right)....

(hey, the Voice Acting of the Red Alert series was awesome. Apocalypse Tank <3)

Worst Dialogue.. hm... very, very hard to say. But my choice is Heroes of Might & Magic V, the Necromancer-Lord during the campaign. That guy is so BLOODY annoying..

Well, I guess I'll bump in with the obligatory note of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's dialogue between Richter Belmont and Dracula.

It's become a fun meme, though. ^_^

Can you explain that to someone who never played it? :c

"What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talking - have at you!"

The above line defines the corniness of the confrontation between Richter and Drac...

EDIT: Full text:

Richter Belmont: Die, monster! You don't belong in this world!
Dracula: It is not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was brought here by humans who wish to pay me tribute.
Richter Belmont: Tribute? You steal mens' souls and make them your slaves!
Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...
Richter Belmont: Your words are as empty as your soul. Mankind ill needs a savior such as you.
Dracula: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets... But enough talk, have at you!

That dialogue ain't by far "bad" in my books - cliched, a bit, yes, but outright "bad"? Wouldn't say so.

Best part? Not only is the dialogue corny as hell, the voice acting is so bad. They somehow managed to overact every half-syllable. XD

The rest of the game is almost as bad. But it's so awful I sit through the dialogue just for the lulz of it.

edit: If you'll notice, Dracula pretty much non-sequiturs in every response.

"You wil regret those words!"

"WHAT!?"

Indeed, it was so bad that it became strangely fascinating. ^_^

Okay. Crappy voice acting might do its part... :D

Richter Belmont: Die, monster! You don't belong in this world!
Dracula: It is not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was brought here by humans who wish to pay me tribute.
^-- "I didn't come here, I was brought here, kthxbai"

Richter Belmont: Tribute? You steal mens' souls and make them your slaves!
Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...
^-- "Sure I steal souls and enslave 'em, but so does any religion"

Richter Belmont: Your words are as empty as your soul. Mankind ill needs a savior such as you.
Dracula: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets... But enough talk, have at you!
^-- "Mankind = miserable + secret = in need of saving... oh and plx die now"

As for non sequitur -> see above, no :D

Okay, I'll give you this one.

Richter Belmont: Tribute? You steal mens' souls and make them your slaves!
Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...
^-- "Sure I steal souls and enslave 'em, but so does any religion"
Even bringing up religion is a non-sequitur here. Or at the very least, too far a stretch.

Richter Belmont: Your words are as empty as your soul. Mankind ill needs a savior such as you.
Dracula: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets... But enough talk, have at you!
^-- "Mankind = miserable + secret = in need of saving... oh and plx die now"
Okay, seriously, that's stretching it even for playing the Devil's Advocate, dude.

I like the way you paraphrase old Fangsy.

What happens afterwards? Does the Vampire Hunter dust the FAnged One or does he get SMISH SMASH SMUSH BLAM through the nearest castle wall into an early grave? :c (and, honestly, I think that Dracula has every right to bring religion into play when it comes to soul-sucking. After all, what else can a vampire compare himself to? :p)

Meh, you can do the latter when you (as Alucard) face Richter later on. You are supposed to save him, but nothing keeps you from squishing him like a roach.

Or at least, trying to. Richter is a seriously badass Belmont - he'll kill you a lot faster than you can kill him if you aren't careful about what you do, and he abuses items and Item Crashes...
