Harry Potter "Where the hell am I?!"

I need help, but don't worry, I'm not asking for "that" kind of help. My doc already gave up on that end so I figure I won't subject you to it ether.

But I guess in a way this will appease my (in)sanity. :p

With the abysmal ending to the Harry Potter books I thought it was appropriate for the series to go down the same path as our dear Saotome Ranma. Because nothing screams "CROSSOVER" more so than a bad ending to a good concept. Not only that but we're working with MAGIC here, the excuse "A wizard did it" is so obvious I shouldn't even have to say it.

So far, the most popular crossovers I've seen are...

1) Lord of the Rings
2) Star Wars
3) Stargate

...and that's it. :blue:

Oh sure there may be a few Harry Potter crossovers other than those top 3 but really now, how many of them can we say are GOOD? 5, maybe? I've only seen two and trying to account for the potential of the rest of the internet -as you can see my prospects aren't that high.

So I've decided this needs to be fixed. Pronto.

 We HAVE to compile the best of the best HP crossovers HERE in one place, I can't trust anyone else but you guys to actually get quality over quantity *cough*ff.net*cough*.

It's All Relative on the Hellmouth

A post-Voldemort Harry Potter/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover. This one connects Harry with the only British (living) member of the BTVS cast.

Some hints of Harry/Buffy towards the end, because some people have to know that upfront.

I'm writing a crossover with Fatal Fury that is called "Painted Grey". The completed prologue and incomplete chapter one may be found in the Previews section of the HP subforum.

oh Haruhi, I've read all of those except for "Eldritch Asylum" -which I'll begin reading right now.

But hey those were easy to find. I wonder are there any decent HP/video game crossovers out there? That aren't FF?

A BtVS Crossover. HP&T Exiled Slayer. That Slayer being Faith, of course. Additionally, the best place to find HP/BtVS crossovers is at Twisting the Hellmouth. It's got a category to itself there. Suggestion: Filter by word count. Word count generally correlates well with fic quality.

Mahou mo Ken. Not explicitly a crossover, but it certainly feels Crossovery. If you like Xander from BtVS, also check out the author's fic 'For the Better'.

Skysaber's The Wizard of Gotham. With the name, the crossover's fairly obvious. It's decent, although avoid his other HP fic (the self insert one). Also, Carrotglace's A matter of force, which crosses over with several things. Although I haven't read the last few chapters, so I'm not sure what its quality level is currently at.

Arsenic and Old Lace. A Dresden crossover.

Shadows in the Graveyard. Short. Crossover's hinted at in the title. Just read it.

Color of Magic. Discworld crossover. I'm fairly sure I've mentioned this in another thread.

Wizard Superheroes and Jackalopes. As the title implies, some superhero stuff. Harry/Luna, yay! Hasn't been updated in a long time :/

And... the reason I bothered to reply to this, a fic that has probably been removed from FFnet. It was a Harry Potter/Belgarath the Sorceror crossover, and the fact that I can't find it either in my C2 or in my favourite stories lists means that I either missed it when I searched for it, or it's gone now. Damn. It hadn't been updated in a while, though.

Finally, Shadow Crystal Mage has written a bunch of HP crossovers, but their quality is... dubious. Readable, certainly, possibly enjoyable, but nothing to write home about.

Finally, Chibi-Reaper's Honor Among Thieves is a Harry Potter/Ranma crossover. It's decent.

Thx, very nice selection. I was GONNA contribute "Wizard of Gotham" but, eh, to late!

Is the Eddings crossover To End All Wars by Padfootjr24? Because he got in a car accident, and handed off that fic to a friend of his.

The new link is here.

And yet another HP/Dresden crossover. Harry Potter: Abjuration The premise is nice, the writing is very readable, the only problem with it is that there's only three chapters to it so far. Argh.

Thanks, Christopher Robin - that was exactly what I was looking for.

I like Shezza's Denerian Renegade....but at the same time I hate it and others of it's ilk since it (and the others) just cherry pick parts of the Dresden-verse to mix in with Harry Potter while ignoring the rest. Cause I can damn near guarentee that HP wizards wouldn't be tolerated (nor stand a chance against) by the White Council and their rules. I mean, they're willing to hang Harry and others even in situations where the violation of the Rules was unintentional or in self-defense. What would they do to HP wizards and their society?

That being said/ranted, I haven't read too many HP/Dresden crossovers. Mostly for the reasons above, I can't imagine the two worlds being successfully merged or crossed :huh.:

*goes back to reading 'Blood Rites'*

Blood Rites is an actual dead tree book. It's the sixth in the series.

There is a HP/Hellraiser cross that is pretty good.

Evil Be Thou My Good by Ruskbyte on FF.net.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2452681/1/Evil_Be_Thou_My_Good

The author also has an interesting HP cross with Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy where Harry takes Billy's spot. It only goes up thru the sorting thou, and hasn't had anything added in 2 years.

Something Grim this Way Comes.

Ishtar has a Addams Family cross by the name of Family Values. It starts when Harry gets dropped off at the Dursley's and has jumps up to first year.

I would have to dig around for some others.

On the subject of crossovers, does anyone know of any type-moon/hp crossovers, negima/hp crossovers or nanoha crossovers?

Not quite. Nodoka married Genma as in canon R1/2 and divorced him when she learned that Genma denied Ranma his heritage as a last descendant of Slytherin.

And I do apologize. I've got half of a new chapter for it done, and am just kind of hung up at the moment.

Perhaps ... and shame on you for getting my hopes up and then presenting something like this. I'm biting my way through in the vain hopes that things pick up, but even the first couple of chapters are already enough to void any potential win a Discworld cross brings with it. Emo-Harry. Angsty-Harry. Deus-ex-Hermiochina. My god, it's like one bad cliche piled on top of the next, with no end in sight.

ETA: Upon further inspection, I see that my feelings of foreboding were indeed correct. Flubbed the character voices, inconsistencies in attitudes ... some of it is downright painful to read. Verdict: Nay.

I once saw a good Harry raised by Granny Weatherwax, but I have no idea where it is.

Does anyone know of any HP/Negima crossovers? After all, I'm pretty sure Ken Akamatsu got the idea from reading HP.
