Which game should I get?

So I've been out visiting videogame stores today, because I was bored, and in one gamestop right by my house, I find a used copy of Disgaea, and new copies of Digital Devil Saga and Disgaea 2.

I seem to remember a lot of people on this board saying that at least one of those games was rare, and that they were all good.

Any advice on which one I should pick up?

Never played the second, but the first and thrid are musts if you like -Tactic games. Personally if forced to pick only one, I'd go for the Digital Devil Saga. The Disgaea games are don't take themselves serious and are light hearted (could have changed later on in game, but at the points that I stopped playing them, they were light-hearted but hard tactical games).

*Wanders off for a minute and then comes back* Yeah, just checked out some info on Digital Devil Saga, good looking game and made by Atlus (maker of Disgaea and several other good RPGs).

Pick up Disgaea (the first one) or DDS.

Both are out of print, and hard to get. Not as hard as like... Suikoden I and Suikoden II, but you'd usually need to pay retail on a used copy or more (beside being hard to find outside of ebay and such).

I'd personally go with DDS if you want a good RPG with an involving plot (albeit something that's a two-part game, so you can't play the until the conclusion unless you buy the second game), or Disgaea if you want a good SRPG with hilarious dialogue.

And while opinions may differ, I can't really recommend Disgaea 2, especially if you liked the first one.

I agree with F1, get either Disgaea or DDS. I'd recommend the latter, personally, because Megaten games in the US (and their spinoffs like Persona) are even more infamous than the already infamous other Atlus games for becoming almost impossible to find after a while. Just try finding Persona 2: EP anywhere. You'll either fail or have to pay massively inflated prices.

For the record, Atlus didn't make Disgaea; they're the US distributor. They have good taste in games, in-house or no.

I second the recommendations. Disgaea is rather rare and out-of-print, and is awesome if you like tactical RPGs with a heavy power-leveling and comedy element. Plus, Disgaea 1's voice cast is just great.

The Shin Megami Tensei games are indeed hard to find, as I've never seen one on the shelves anywhere. I've never heard anything short of glowing praise for the games, so that may be the one to go for.

Disgaea 2, you should pass on until you've had your fill of the first game. Personally, I like the changes to the game mechanics, but I dislike the changes in VA cast, and the humor just isn't as good. Also, Adell is nowhere near as awesome a character as Laharl.

Oh dear - looks like I'll be blowing some money on Amazon, then, if the SMT games vanish that quickly... I'm missing DDS2.
